Chapter 131 The Banquet - 3 The Change of Leaders is a Major Event...
The change of leadership is a major event, and Tang Bufan, who was originally idle, suddenly had something to do. He thought that the orcs of the Western Federation probably didn't bring formal attire to the banquet.
Besides him and Lu Yi, the other invited guests included several high-ranking orcs: Bren, Sirius, Fick, and Anderson.
Tang Bufan was genuinely surprised to see Anderson on the invitation list, knowing that Anderson's reputation was terrible. He couldn't help but worry whether Guo Wen had seen the list.
But since Pei Zhishu delivered it personally, there shouldn't be any problem, right? Tang Bufan thought about it again and again, but still didn't contact Pei Zhishu to confirm again. He sincerely hoped that Anderson could go with them, otherwise it would be too pitiful to exclude him alone.
Tang Bufan then put away the invitation and, guided by Kai Ge, went to the training room to find Bren.
Lu Yi was also there. He was wearing a light screen goggles for simulation training. The training pod simulated a space environment, and you could see his tied-up hair floating lightly in the air.
Tang Bufan watched with curiosity for a while, then walked over to Bren and handed him the invitation Pei Zhishu had given him.
“We brought a formal military uniform; that will be fine for the banquet,” Bren said. For soldiers like them, a uniform adorned with medals was the best dress uniform.
Tang Bufan understood and thought that there was no need to prepare formal attire for them.
“If you have one, that’s fine. I’ll take Anderson to order a set.” Tang Bufan then said.
Brun frowned slightly upon hearing this. He remained silent for a moment before asking, "Is Madam sure you want to take him?"
“Of course, he’s on the invitation too.” Tang Bufan’s expression turned slightly serious as he spoke up to defend Anderson: “He’s Lu Yi’s adjutant, and he’s taken good care of me over the past year.”
"And he was someone my father sent to be by my side." Lu Yi's voice came from the side. Tang Bufan turned his head and realized that he had come out of the training pod at some point.
Lu Yi had already taken off his large-screen glasses and raised his arm to wipe the sweat from his forehead. The high-intensity training had made his face flushed, and his tied-up golden curly hair was also a little damp.
Tang Bufan looked at him in surprise, not quite understanding what he meant.
“My father couldn’t possibly not know that Anderson disappeared from the mental hospital, but he didn’t send anyone to arrest him. At first, I thought he was letting Anderson go for Angus’s sake, but then I realized that he had been using Anderson to track my movements all along,” Lu Yi said with a rather complicated expression.
Tang Bufan thought for a moment and then understood. Lu Yi really wanted to run away from home, so in order to avoid being caught and brought back, he had kept his personal AI off until the two of them needed Evelyn's help in that town of poisonous people, at which point he had no choice but to turn it on.
If Lu Yi hadn't met him, he would likely have kept AI locked up forever. Hans had obviously guessed this, so as a father, he tacitly allowed Luther to release Anderson and use Anderson's pursuit of Lu Yi to obtain information about Lu Yi's whereabouts.
Tang Bufan was speechless at this father. Was he really not worried that Anderson would kill Lu Yi?
Bren was somewhat surprised to hear this; he seemed unaware of it.
"And you also obtained aircraft technology from the humans in the West District." Lu Yi's golden-green eyes looked at Bren with a slightly deeper gaze: "You traded me for it, didn't you? If I'm not mistaken, my father arranged for you to take me back."
"..." Bren fell silent. He had brought his elite troops to the east because he had received orders from Hans to bring Lu Yi, who had been away from home for a year, back.
“The humans in the Western Underground City don’t accept my brother as their leader, so they made a deal with my father. They gave us the technology to manufacture aircraft, but in return, I must be the one to take over the Western Federation.” Lu Yi’s calm voice carried a hint of complexity: “I’ve been thinking a lot lately, whether even my running away from home was part of his plan. I’ve always wondered why he would bring Ethan into the picture. Although he does resemble my mother in some ways, he’s not a very good person. But now I think I understand.”
Bren remained silent, not uttering a word. Tang Bufan stood quietly to the side, not daring to interrupt, but he grew increasingly alarmed by Lu Yi's complicated family situation.
“I’m sorry, Young Master Louis.” After a long while, Brun sighed softly and slowly said, “I don’t know what the Führer is thinking, and sometimes I find some of his decisions strange, but the Western Federation is getting better and better under his leadership, so I will resolutely carry out all his orders.”
Lu Yi didn't mean to blame Bren, but after thinking it through, he was so angry he almost laughed, realizing how Anderson had felt when he was tricked.
“Anderson will be coming with us,” Lu Yi said earnestly to Bren. “And I will restore his commander status later.”
Brun paused again, then bowed slightly to Lu Yi: "Just as I trust the Führer, I also trust all of your decisions, Young Master Louis."
Tang Bufan had come to inquire about the dress, but he didn't expect to hear these things. After being taken aback, he felt a little emotional, thinking that he probably couldn't beat Lu Yi's father.
It's a shame he was so arrogant back then, saying he would take Lu Yi back to defeat his father and brother; his confidence was truly baffling.
Tang Bufan felt a little embarrassed, so he decided not to disturb Lu Yi's training. After leaving the training room, he glanced at the time and then called Anderson again through Kai Ge.
He didn't tell Anderson about the invitation. It wasn't until he took him to a custom-made dress shop halfway up a mountain in Taicheng and the owner came over with a measuring tape to take Anderson's measurements that Anderson realized what was going on.
"What, are you inviting me to your wedding?" Anderson sneered, realizing he had misunderstood.
Tang Bufan didn't expect the news of his and Lu Yi's upcoming marriage to spread so quickly. After thinking about it, he figured it must have been Lu Yi who excitedly told the news.
"No, it's because Mr. Guo Wen is retiring, and his son Guo Shen is succeeding him as head of state. He invited us to the ceremony and banquet," Tang Bufan explained to him.
Anderson paused, then clicked his tongue in annoyance: "What does that have to do with us? I'm not going."
"You're my bodyguard, you can't not go." Tang Bufan cut off his refusal and started choosing fabrics with the shop assistant.
Anderson gave him a disapproving look and complained, "You've always liked to give orders, and now that you're a wife, you've become even more confident in doing so."
Tang Bufan, picking out fabrics, chuckled softly: "Who told you to be disobedient?"
Anderson listened to his laughter and felt as if it were a spring breeze. He couldn't help but chuckle and "tsk," and obediently let the shop owner measure his bust, waist, and hips.
The handover ceremony of the head of state was very grand. Although the time was a bit rushed, Pei Zhishu arranged everything very well. After this period of rest, Taicheng has recovered most of its vitality. However, the repair of the city walls will take a long time.
As the heir of the Western Federation, Lu Yi was arranged in the front row center position, and Tang Bufan benefited from his position, enjoying a great view of the Eastern Federation's mini military parade.
Well... although the orc soldiers and various land vehicles were impressive, there was a lack of high-precision weapons on display, and their numbers were not as large as Tang Bufan had seen on TV before.
The harsh terrain and low birth rate greatly limited the development of the orcs.
To make it easier for the human attendees to participate in the banquet, the banquet was held in the inner hall. After taking a bath, Tang Bufan changed into his custom-made evening suit. He did not choose the Chinese style he usually wore, but rather a more classic Western style, in order to match Lu Yi, who was wearing a formal military uniform.
The dress was black and fitted, with a crisp white shirt and a small bow tie underneath. Tang Bufan also tied his hair back with a black silk ribbon, elegantly and low.
Lu Yi, who was waiting outside, turned around and his eyes lit up. He couldn't help but raise the corners of his mouth and look Tang Bufan up and down several times.
"How was it?" Tang Bufan blushed slightly under his gaze, but still spun around in front of him with a flourish.
"Looks good." Lu Yi reached out and touched his lips, his delight evident. He had originally thought Tang Bufan was suited to Tang suits, but now he realized he was being naive. Tang Bufan looks good in anything.
But when he looked at Tang Bufan, who wasn't wearing makeup and just had his hair neatly combed back, he felt something was missing. So he reached out and touched Tang Bufan's earlobe, and suddenly realized, "Teacher, you're missing an earring. Why don't you have pierced ears?"
"...I think most men don't have pierced ears," Tang Bufan remarked.
“It’s normal for men to wear earrings,” Lu Yi said, already having a plan in mind: “I’ll put some on you later, I have a bunch of jewelry earrings at home.”
Tang Bufan raised his hand to stop him: "No need."
As they talked, the two went to find the others to join them. Bren and the others had arrived, all dressed in crisp, formal military uniforms. Only Anderson and Tang Bufan wore custom-made Western-style suits.
His tuxedo was silver-gray, matching his silver hair, which he tied back with a headband. He still looked nonchalant, leaning lazily against the wall.
When he saw Tang Bufan arrive, Anderson glanced at him briefly, his silver-gray eyes scrutinizing him for a moment before casually looking away.
A group of people walked along the passage inside the mountain into the inner hall. Lu Yi and Sirius had been here before, so they didn't look around. The others, however, were more or less observing their surroundings.
Anderson walked at the very back, with Fick, who had black hair, in front of him. Tang Bufan wasn't very familiar with this orc, only knowing that he would take over for Bren when he was busy.
Brun is a senior commander, while Sirius is a promising young researcher. This Fick is about the same age as Sirius, and the fact that Hans sent him here must mean he has exceptional abilities.
Seeing Tang Bufan turn around slightly to look at him, Fick nodded to him indifferently.
“Fik is the son of the Lord of Naples,” Lu Yi whispered to Tang Bufan, “and also the future successor to the title of Lord of Naples.”
Tang Bufan understood, thinking to himself that he was indeed a formidable figure.
The group entered the inner hall. The human prisoners had already been assigned and taken away by their respective orc husbands. They were now all in the midst of a horrific period of mutation.
However, the inner sanctuary did not appear desolate; there were still many uniformed orcs and armed human special police.
Tang Bufan thought of Yu Shi. He was the only one left who hadn't been assigned an orc partner. Because of his special status, the Eastern Federation hadn't urged him. However, they didn't have much time to dawdle. After the banquet, the peacekeeping force would take this year's supplies back to the dungeon.
The New Business Alliance will remain, while Fang Yue will go with a group from the Eastern Federation to the Penglai base to survey the terrain and make construction plans.
Lu Yi planned to go with Fang Yue. First, it was not safe to stay in Taicheng, as Zero was clearly attacking Taicheng relentlessly. Second, he wanted to learn about the construction of the human base by Fang Yue's side. Third... he also wanted to spend his honeymoon with Tang Bufan on that island.
Ultimately, the two decided not to postpone their wedding date for Guo Wen's sake. Lu Yi liked May 20th and didn't plan to hold a grand ceremony. He just wanted to stay quietly with Tang Bufan, just the two of them, driving their RV to a deserted hillside or taking a spacecraft to space, exchanging vows and taking their wedding photos.
Tang Bufan had no objection to this, but silently complained in his heart that this child really had a strong tendency to withdraw from the world, and didn't even want others to be involved in his marriage.
The group passed through the main hall on the first floor of the inner palace and entered the main venue of the banquet. People from the East District Underground City and some high-ranking officials from the Eastern Federation were already inside drinking and chatting. Upon seeing them, they paused their conversation slightly.
