Chapter 11: Treat others the way they treat you

At daybreak, Chen Qi walked out of the house yawning and rubbing his face. From the yard came the sound of hitting wooden stakes.

"She's quite energetic." Chen Qi yawned again and said, "It seems Xingzi is enjoying her meal."

Last night Miss Jun inexplicably wanted to eat apricots. She didn't want candied or dried apricots, but whole ones, preferably fresh ones.

It is really difficult to find fresh apricots in the first month of the lunar year.

Fang Jinxiu and Liu'er did not refute. Instead, they went out in the middle of the night, knocked on the door of a shop and bought a jar of pickled apricots to make up the number.

"What on earth are you thinking about? Why don't you say what you want to do, but instead want to eat something?" Chen Qi said, "It's just as weird as a pregnant wife."

Liu'er, who came out of the kitchen, pouted when she heard this.

"My young lady is thinking about something. What's wrong with eating something while thinking? You're not surprised by anything." She said.

"So what does she think?" Chen Qi said.

The two were arguing when Miss Jun came out from the backyard.

"Chen Lin," she said, lowering her sleeves, "after dinner, go to the Wucheng Military Division. I have already written down what they need to do. You will be responsible for arranging their actions."

Chen Qi answered yes and watched Miss Jun walk past him into the hall.

"She called me Chen Lin." He added, with a strange look on his face.

Liuer rolled her eyes.

"Isn't your name Chen Lin?" she said.

Chen Qi touched his head.

"My name is Chen Lin, but this is the first time I heard her call me that," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "It sounds weird, I can't even recognize myself."

Besides, almost no one had ever called him Chen Lin. It was only written in the family tree, and he himself had almost forgotten it.

It's scary to be called so formally.

I hope what happens next won’t be so scary.

"That's what they are responsible for, mainly maintaining order." Miss Jun said, "Is there anything else you don't understand?"

Chen Qi was still looking down at the papers in his hand and nodded when he heard this.

"No, I understand it all. It's very simple," he said.

"It's easy to say, but not necessarily easy to do." Fang Jinxiu said, "You should be serious about it."

"Of course I am serious. My head is hanging on my neck, how can I not be serious?" Chen Qi said.

Fang Jinxiu stared even more.

"What nonsense are you talking about?" she said.

Miss Jun smiled.

"He's right. We are now playing for our lives. If we play well, everyone will be happy. If we don't, it's all over," she said.

Fang Jinxiu frowned and looked at her.

"Did you eat too many apricots? They're so sour." she said.

Miss Jun laughed, Chen Qi also laughed and put the paper away.

"Then I'll go to the Bingmasi." He said, and walked out.

Miss Jun also picked up the medicine box.

"Are you going to the Imperial Hospital? I'll go with you." Fang Jinxiu said.

Miss Jun thought about it.

"Let Liu'er go with me, and you stay home to watch over her." She said, "We will need a lot of money and manpower in the future."

"Isn't it the government that's issuing this?" Liu'er interrupted.

Fang Jinxiu nodded.

"It's urgent, and the people and money from the government have to go through various approvals, so it's better for us to act quickly ourselves." She said, "You go, I'll be at home, and I'll work with Manager Liu if there's anything."

Miss Jun nodded and walked out with Liu'er, who was carrying the medicine box.

At this time in Lu's residence, Princess Jiuli and Lu Yunqi were just preparing to have breakfast.

The maids came in and out quietly, placing a sumptuous breakfast on the table.

Princess Jiuli and Lu Yunqi sat opposite each other and ate quietly.

"Mr. Gu has added riding and archery lessons for Prince Huai." Lu Yunqi said suddenly.

Being able to take horse riding and archery lessons means that my body is completely healed.

Princess Jiuli nodded.

"It's time for him to learn this," she said, smiling again, "Mr. Gu is really knowledgeable and talented."

Lu Yunqi nodded.

Even between the couple, they would not talk much about this topic of Prince Huai.

Lu Yunqi said nothing more, and Princess Jiuli asked no more questions, and the two continued to eat in silence.

"Are there many children with pox coming from outside the city?"

But after a pause, Princess Jiuli raised her head and spoke again.

Lu Yunqi was slightly surprised.

Princess Jiuli never takes the initiative to ask about outside affairs.

But then I didn't feel surprised.

The pox involved the woman.

The woman named Jiuling who successfully attracted the attention of Princess Jiuli.

However, she not only attracted the attention of Princess Jiuli, but also her own.

"Don't worry, Princess. The Emperor has already made arrangements," he said.

Princess Jiuli nodded, but did not remain silent like she did before.

"Has Miss Jun received the imperial edict and taken full responsibility?" she asked again.

Lu Yunqi tightened his grip on the chopsticks.

"Yes," he said.

Without waiting for Princess Jiuli to say anything else, he put down his chopsticks and stood up.

"I'm going to the town doctor first."

Princess Jiuli put down her chopsticks, nodded with a smile, and watched Lu Yunqi turn around and walk out.

The maids on both sides stepped forward to clean up with some uneasiness, but Princess Jiuli picked up her chopsticks and continued eating. The maids quickly stepped back and looked at Princess Jiuli with some regret.

Lord Lu has not been to the outer residence these days. He has been either in the town's care office or at home. However, his relationship with Princess Jiuli has not improved at all. They are still treating each other with respect. Moreover, it seems that the princess has made Lord Lu unhappy today.

Everyone in the family knew that Lord Lu didn't like Jiulingtang, but the princess kept mentioning it. Even if Jiulingtang cured Prince Huai, the princess would still have to take her husband's preferences into consideration.

Princess Jiuli ate another bowl of rice before putting down her chopsticks, stood up and walked out, stopping under the eaves and looking outside.

"This Miss Jun is really interesting." She said to herself.

Princess Jiuli was not the only one who thought Miss Jun was interesting; everyone in the Imperial Hospital thought so too.

The actions of Jiulingtang have attracted the attention of the whole city, and just as Miss Jun promised, the progress and arrangements will be clearly reported.

The soldiers had just been reading along the streets that the court had requisitioned the Guanghua Temple outside the capital to house smallpox patients. At the same time, checkpoints were set up on various routes to provide guidance, intercepting sick children on the road who had heard the news and rushing to the city, to prevent them from entering the city.

At the same time, soups and medicines to dispel evil spirits have been prepared for distribution and spraying.

Naturally, everyone in the Imperial Hospital also knew about these arrangements.

"The necessary herbs and cooking methods have been transferred to the Pharmacy Bureau according to Miss Jun's instructions." An imperial physician said, looking at Miss Jun sitting in the room with a bit of laziness, "The distribution and sprinkling will be ready by the afternoon at the latest."

Miss Jun nodded.

"Then Miss Jun, just tell us what medicine you need and we will deliver it to Guanghua Temple." The imperial physician continued.

Miss Jun handed over a list.

"All the medicines needed are listed," she said.

The doctor took it and handed it to the clerk beside him without even looking at it.

"We'll be ready in a moment," he said, standing up.

Miss Jun sat there without moving.

"Miss Jun, do you have any other instructions?" The imperial physician looked at her with some confusion.

"In addition to medicine, I also need people." Miss Jun said, "I need no less than ten doctors to help me rescue patients."

The doctor looked surprised, as if what she said was very strange.

"How can we do this?" he said. "How can we go with Miss Jun to help patients? We can't cure acne. If we go, Miss Jun might not be able to cure it, and then we will become sinners."

Miss Jun was not unfamiliar with this statement. She had expressed similar ideas to the imperial physicians who had consulted her when she was driven away after curing Prince Huai years ago.

"I don't have anything to tell you. Your Highness, I am cured. If there is anything else, it is your business. Just don't blame me when the time comes."

She didn't expect that these imperial doctors would use this sentence to refute her so soon.
