Chapter 9: Comfort and Return Together

Miss Jun's voice was soft and slow, and became quieter towards the end. Only Old Mrs. Fang could hear the last sentence clearly.

Old Mrs. Fang looked at the girl in front of her. Even though she had experienced many ups and downs, she still had a look of surprise.

"What did you say?" she couldn't help asking.

Miss Jun had already let go of her hand and took a step back quietly.

"I have already made things clear between me and the Ning family. From now on we will have nothing to do with each other." She said softly.

Have you explained the matter with the Ning family? Have you nothing to do with it?

How come she doesn't understand what this means?

Of course if it was someone else saying it she would understand, but this Miss Jun...

Old Mrs. Fang looked at her strangely.

Although the girl in front of me was wearing some weird old clothes, her face was still that evil one.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

The little girl had recovered from her fright and snorted when she heard these two sentences.

"My young lady has broken off the engagement with the Ning family." She said, her voice choking with grievance as she said the word 'broken engagement'.

The young lady is so pitiful. Her husband and wife died early, and she has to deal with such a useless grandparents who can't help her and even bully her.

The words "broken engagement" were heard by everyone around, and this time the maids and servants were all shocked.

"How is that possible?" the maid standing closest to him blurted out.

Miss Jun looked at her and smiled.

"How is this impossible?" she said softly.

Of course this is possible, but getting married is impossible. The Ning family will not recognize this marriage at all. However, what the little girl said was that my young lady broke off the engagement with the Ning family.

Miss Jun came to Yangcheng just to marry into the Ning family, and she made such a fuss for the sake of marriage that she was even willing to sacrifice her life. How could she agree to cancel the engagement?

"Of course it's possible. My young lady..." The little girl looked at the maids and spoke with hatred on her face.

She was interrupted by Miss Jun before she could finish her words.

"Let's talk about this when we get back." She said, looking around.

Everyone subconsciously looked around and noticed that there were people gathering around to watch the excitement.

Some people were pointing and whispering at them, obviously knowing who Miss Jun was.

When Miss Jun was in Yangcheng, she wished that everyone would recognize her as the fiancée of the tenth son of the Ning family. Now that she has come to Beiliu Town where the Ning family is located, she will definitely be even more ostentatious.

Add to that the scene of her hanging in the inn, and I'm afraid everyone in this small town knows who she is.

But wouldn't it be more satisfying if there were more people? Why did she take the initiative to leave?

Everyone's eyes fell on Miss Jun.

Miss Jun stood with her eyes downcast, her expression calm and no emotion visible.

"Thank you, Grandma, for coming to pick me up in person." She bowed slightly, "I'm sorry to have caused you so much trouble."

Old Mrs. Fang's hand trembled slightly, and she looked at Miss Jun with even more surprise, and there was a hint of complexity in her surprise.

I'm shocked and troubled.

It was really unexpected that she would hear these words, especially from the mouth of her granddaughter who refused to even look at her.

This thought flashed through Mrs. Fang's mind and her surprise disappeared, leaving only suspicion.

What does this granddaughter want to do?

"Miss, you are joking. It is us who have caused you this humiliation." She said calmly, glanced at Miss Jun, and said nothing more, "Since you want to go to our Fang family, then let's go."

She turned around and winked at a maid, who understood and took a few steps back.

Miss Jun didn't say anything and just followed her.

Miss Jun was about to leave. The little girl glared at the servants and maids of the Fang family hatefully to express her disgust and dissatisfaction, but she didn't say anything else and followed them.

Old Madam Fang brought two carriages. She got on one, and the maid led Miss Jun to the other. Then the maids and servants all crowded into Old Madam Fang's carriage.

Of course Miss Jun would not ride in the same car with such lowly people.

The two carriages sped away in front of the crowd, but no one noticed that a maid from the Fang family was standing in the crowd, listening to everyone's discussions.

Although we were not on an official road, the carriage was still running smoothly.

"What kind of carriage did you arrange for us?" The little girl complained with disgust while sitting in the carriage, "Is it for transporting people or goods? Why don't they put a charcoal brazier in such a cold day? Are you trying to freeze the young lady to death on purpose?"

Miss Jun took a look at the carriage. To be fair, the carriage was well made, but there was no decoration, let alone a few small charcoal basins. It was just a thick mat and pillows.

"Of course it's to recruit people." Miss Jun said.

Miss Jun who was hanged and so badly injured that she couldn't get up, or Miss Jun who was dead.

Miss Jun stroked the cushion of the car. This arrangement was originally a good one and was useful. The only accident was that the dead person's body was taken over by her.

Although Jun Zhenzhen is really dead, her body will not lie down.

The wind swirled through the curtains in the carriage, bringing with it a biting chill.

"Miss, are you cold?" the little girl asked with concern, rubbing her hands. Then she complained, "Why don't you put a heater in the car?"

Although Miss Jun and her servants looked down on the Fang family, they could enjoy everything from the Fang family with peace of mind and as a matter of course. In their hearts, they felt that this was the honor of the Fang family.

What a ridiculous and hateful child.

Miss Jun couldn't help but sneer, but the smile was fleeting, and then she was overwhelmed with emotions.

In the hearts of those people, it is natural that they enjoy everything that has been snatched from them, and then feel proud of the charity given to them.

Her hands, which were placed on her knees and covered by her sleeves, were clenched tightly, and the pain prevented the scream that was about to form in her throat from coming to an end.

Since waking up, everything has been too bizarre and beyond her understanding. She can only deal with reality calmly and suppress those emotions that can easily make people lose their rationality, so as not to drive herself crazy.

Hatred is the emotion that is most likely to make people lose their rationality.

Miss Jun reached out, lifted the car curtain and looked out the window.

"Miss, it's too cold, isn't it?" The little girl didn't notice her emotions, only saw her actions, and said in agreement, with a look of dissatisfaction on her face, "Why don't you even have a hand warmer?"

The little girl turned and moved to the front of the car.

"Stop, stop," she called out. "Bring me the hand warmer."

The people outside were a little confused by her shouting, but they dared not disobey, so they had to report to Old Madam Fang in front. A moment later, the maid in the carriage in front brought a hand warmer.

The little girl frowned as she looked at the hand warmer.

"This is an old hand stove," she said with disdain.

The maid looked forbearing.

"I was in a hurry to go out and didn't prepare it. This belongs to the old servant. Miss, please use it first."

The little girl threw the hand warmer away.

"Oh my god, it's so dirty. Why does it smell so bad?" she screamed.

The maid was so angry that her face turned green.

But the little girl wasn't done yet.

“…Why is there no charcoal brazier in the car? The mat is so frozen…” she complained.

Miss Jun, who was originally in a trance, couldn't help but laugh.

"Liu'er," she called.

The little girl immediately stopped talking and responded.

"Okay, as I said, we have to act urgently. It's not far, we'll get there if we bear with it." Miss Jun said.

The little girl obeyed the young lady's words and snorted at the maid.

"Let's go." She waved her hands in disdain.

The maid bowed stiffly to Miss Jun and turned away.

The convoy resumed its movement. Looking at the maid with a sullen face, the other people in Mrs. Fang's carriage all had sympathetic expressions.

They also heard what the little girl said just now.

"Miss Jun is quite easy to talk to this time." The maid said after a moment's silence.

No matter what, she is the old lady's granddaughter. The old lady can hate her, but she is her blood relative. Even if bones are broken, tendons are still connected. As servants, they still have to be sensible.

Old Mrs. Fang, who had been leaning on the pillow with her eyes closed, snorted.

"One of them plays the villain and the other plays the hero," she said. "Let's see what she is up to next."

The maids lowered their heads and did not dare to answer.

The curtain of the carriage was blown up by the wind, and the voice of a little girl in the carriage behind could be heard faintly.

"...Miss, I will put my clothes on you..."

"…Miss, would you like some tea?…You haven't had tea in such a long time…Luckily I had several cups at Ning's house…"

"…There is no tea on this train…They are so…"

Miss Jun turned her gaze from the car window to look at the little girl.

"No, I'm not thirsty or cold. I'll just lift the curtain to get some fresh air." She said, "You should rest for a while too."

The little girl vaguely felt that when the young lady asked her to take a rest, was she asking her to shut up because she was too noisy?

In the past, she would not think too much about what the young lady said. Whatever the young lady said was what she meant. However, since the young lady had just talked with Madam Ning at the Ning family, all the words were obviously very friendly, but Madam Ning left in a sullen face in the end, she thought about it now and felt that there seemed to be hidden meaning in what the young lady said.

As the young lady's most capable and only maid, Liu'er felt that she must understand what the young lady said, so as not to go against her intentions and make mistakes.

Liu'er was quiet for a moment and didn't see the young lady say a word to her, which made her even more certain that the young lady wanted her to shut up.

Miss Jun stared out the window motionlessly, and Liu'er felt that her neck was stiff from staring so much.

"Miss, what are you looking at?" she couldn't help asking.

Miss Jun looked out the window. Outside Beiliu Town was a plain with a wide view. It was winter and the view was desolate and a bit rough.

“To see the view,” she said.

She had been to many places and seen many landscapes, but she had never been to the place north of the capital. She never thought that she would be able to see it after her death.
