Side Story: The Number One Swordsman (Part 4)

When Gingerbread woke up, Fenjue was sitting beside her.

A bowl of steaming shredded chicken noodles sits not far away.

She rubbed her eyes. "How long have I been asleep?"

Fen Jue placed the shredded chicken noodles on the table and said in a calm and unhurried tone, "Not long, only about four hours."

What?

She slept for eight hours!

I glanced outside; the night sky was as dark as ink, and the stars shone brightly.

"I can't believe I slept for so long, I must be really exhausted." Gingerbread covered her mouth and yawned, then walked over and washed her face with water.

Then I sat down at the table and ate noodles.

“It’s delicious!”

She looked up, her pure eyes sparkling.

Fen Jue met her smiling eyes, poured her a cup of floral tea, and pushed it towards her, saying, "Eat slowly, be careful not to choke."

"Uh-huh....."

They ate the gingerbread in small bites.

After finishing her meal, she sipped her tea with her eyes half-closed in enjoyment.

"Xiao Jue, I just fell asleep and dreamed that I went to the Heavenly Palace again."

Fen Jue raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

Gingerbread's round almond-shaped eyes curved into crescents. "I dodged the heavenly soldiers and ran to a pavilion. In front of the pavilion was a stone tablet, on which your life story was recorded."

He was slightly startled.

The little guy accidentally wandered into his mansion.

"And then?" he asked.

“Then—” Gingerbread recalled, resting her chin on her hand, “Then I met a handsome man. He had a gentle smile, not the kind of gentle smile that Pigsy had, but a smile with a hint of compassion and tolerance. In short, he was a really nice person. He even said he knew me and that he was your colleague!”

Fen Jue frowned slightly, guessing that the man Jiang Bingbing mentioned must be the Lord God.

Silence for a few seconds.

"Is he a good person?"

Fen Jue snorted, "He's good at bluffing. You'll see how wicked he is once you ascend."

"Huh? Who is he?" Gingerbread popped its head over and asked curiously.

"He is the oldest and worst person in the Heavenly Palace."

Fen Jue, his expression unchanged, asked, "What else did he say?"

"They even say I'm from the same clan as Fairy Feng'ai. Does that mean I also have a powerful background?"

Gingerbread asked with great interest.

Fen Jue was taken aback, then suddenly remembered that he had known for a long time that there was a goddess in the Heavenly Palace who also had a Chaos Spiritual Root.

It turns out that Xiaobing and she are from the same clan.

Doesn't that mean the little guy is a descendant of the cycle of reincarnation?

It was when Fenjue sent the Nine Luminaries King back to the Heavenly Palace that he learned about Fairy Phoenix's background from the Lord God.

“Fairy Feng’ai is a member of the Reincarnation Dao Clan. When I first saw your spiritual root, I guessed that you had some connection with her. It turns out that you are from the same clan and origin.”

"Like the Path of Immortality, the Path of Reincarnation has seen its members dwindle, with few descendants remaining. As far as I know, only you and Feng Ai remain in the Path of Reincarnation, while I am the only one left in the Path of Immortality."

"So that's how it is."

Gingerbread felt a sudden realization dawn on him: "So, is that why I dream of going to the Heavenly Palace?"

"That's right."

"Let's put it this way: you are destined to ascend from birth, or you could say that the Heavenly Palace is your home, so it's easy for your consciousness to leave your body and go to the Heavenly Realm when you dream."

Gingerbread seemed to understand something. "Oh, I get it."

After saying that, he shut his mouth tightly.

The cicadas outside the window were chirping louder and louder.

No one spoke inside the hall.

Seeing her droopy eyelids and listless appearance, Fen Jue guessed what she was thinking.

"Do you believe that your talent doesn't belong to you, but to the original gingerbread? And that you feel like you stole something from someone else?"

I didn't expect Fen Jue to ask so directly.

Gingerbread pursed his lips into a thin line.

Although time travel was not her intention, the chaotic spiritual root she possessed was indeed not her own.

"Um."

She felt extremely guilty, always feeling that she had taken something precious from someone else, even though the original owner of this body was killed by Ruan Ci.

I'm feeling really unwell.

Cool fingers pinched her cheek.

Gingerbread looked up blankly, only to see Fen Jue smiling faintly and saying, "You are her, and she is you."

"What?!"

This sentence.

The fried gingerbread was stunned for a long time.

It took a long time.

She then asked, "What...what do you mean?"

When Fenjue returned to the Heavenly Palace that time, he thoroughly investigated the matter of gingerbread.

I had planned to wait until she ascended to immortality and witnessed the Three Thousand Lesser Worlds firsthand before explaining it to her.

Now I see her upset about this.

Once the fire is extinguished, there's no need to worry about anything else.

What is the cycle of reincarnation?

"From birth to death, and from death to life, is the cycle of reincarnation."

"Two of you, both of you."

"In other words, when you, the one from the Eight Desolate Continent, enter the cycle of reincarnation, your true self will come to cultivate. When you complete the entire cycle of reincarnation, that will be the time for you to ascend to the Heavenly Palace."

"She is your clone, and also a wisp of your divine consciousness."

The girl's red lips parted slightly as she stared blankly at him.

These words had a profound impact on her.

It also swept away her long-standing guilt and worries.

It turns out they were one person!

Fen Jue's gaze fell on her silly little face, and he couldn't help but smile. "I originally wanted to wait until you ascended to immortality and witnessed the twelve paths of cultivation before telling you about them."

"I never imagined that you would sleepwalk to the Heavenly Palace and even encounter the Lord God."

Another piece of news has shocked Gingerbread.

"You mean that handsome man is the Supreme God?"

"Yes." Fen Jue frowned. "He's handsome?"

"He was handsome, especially his eyes, the color of his pupils was very light and unique." When Jiang Bingbing recalled the appearance of the man in white, she did not notice Fen Jue's unhappy face.

"And his fingers are so long, and when he smiles, the corners of his mouth..."

Just then, a cool voice interrupted.
