Side Story: The Number One Swordsman (Part Two)

Gingerbread used her body as a sword to charge towards the heavenly lightning, but the sword energy surrounding her did not allow the lightning to harm her in the slightest.

The auspicious clouds dispersed.

She descended gracefully from the sky, her clothes fluttering.

The white sword energy seemed to contain a hint of lightning, and even without getting close, one could feel its terrifying pressure.

"How was it?" Fen Jue smiled, his phoenix eyes revealing a hint of pride.

"Um……"

The girl opened her palm and made a loose clenching motion twice.

"It's okay..."

His eyes and brows were clearly brimming with excitement and pride, yet he pretended to be nonchalant.

"Just okay?"

He walked over to Gingerbread, his eyes lowered, and gently brushed the dust off her shoulder.

"Hey……"

Gingerbread chuckled and grabbed Fen Jue's arm, shaking it. "I was faking it."

"It's not just okay, it's so exhilarating to be able to turn the world upside down with a flick of the wrist!"

As she spoke, she struck out with her palm towards the desolate, uninhabited area.

Half a mountain was instantly reduced to dust.

"I can cause this much damage without using the Surging Wave Sword. Isn't that impressive?"

Her eyes crinkled with laughter.

He looks like he's asking for praise.

Fen Jue clenched his right fist and pressed it against his lips to hide the smile on his face. He cleared his throat before saying, "Impressive."

Fearing that Gingerbread might not be satisfied, he added, "I've searched the entire Eight Desolate Continents, and there's no one more powerful than you."

"Um……"

"I guess only someone from my younger days could compare."

"Hmph, I knew it! I'm talented and have a strong comprehension ability... wait, no, no..."

She realized what was happening and shoved Fenjue with a laugh, "Oh, so you're praising yourself, aren't you?"

He pulled the person into his arms and gently patted Gingerbread's back with his right hand. "No."

"snort!"

The person in his arms was clearly agitated; he rested his chin against the top of the girl's head and gently rubbed it.

He coaxed her like he was petting a cat.

"When I was young, I could barely compare, but the Fairy of Cakes is still the best..."

"It's not that exaggerated..."

Gingerbread blushed as she was coaxed, feeling dizzy and completely captivated by the man.

They also didn't forget to raise objections.

"The name 'Fairy of Cakes' doesn't sound nice, you're not allowed to call me that."

"Really?" Fen Jue tilted his head, paused for a moment, and glanced at her curled eyelashes. "I think she's very cute."

Gingerbread's ears and neck turned red.

He smiled and said, "If you don't like it, I won't call you that anymore, okay?"

"Hmm..."

She nodded hesitantly.

Actually, after being praised for being cute by Fenjue, the name "Fairy Cake" doesn't seem so bad anymore.

Isn't she kind of cute...?

...

Something that should be celebrated throughout the entire Eight Desolate Continent has happened: following the ascension of Immortal Lord Crane Feather five hundred years ago.

Finally, the second person to ascend to immortality was welcomed.

That is, Sect Leader Wuya!

While Jiang Bingbing was practicing her swordsmanship atop Xianyu Peak, a sudden burst of dragon and phoenix cries erupted from the back mountain.

All the disciples of the Sword Sect rushed to the back mountain.

The sect leader, Wuya, had his eyes closed, and his coarse cloth robes fluttered without wind. Suddenly, a beam of white divine light descended from above his head, accompanied by a blue dragon and a red phoenix circling around the divine light.

Immediately afterwards.

The seven-colored rosy clouds lifted up the Boundless Sect Leader.

As he opened his eyes, a compassionate and divine quality flashed across them, and he said, "Han Chuan."

Ling Hanchuan quickly came out, "Master."

"With my departure, the position of sect leader will be handed over to you. I hope you will remember the sect rules and protect our disciples."

Ling Hanchuan replied earnestly, "This disciple obeys."

Gingerbread and Fenjue stood in the back row watching the show. The Wuyai Sect Leader in mid-air looked at Fenjue, tears streaming down his face, and said with trembling lips, "Thank you for your grace, Ancestor!"

"It was this divine rain that gave me the opportunity to ascend to the Heavenly Palace. I will never forget your kindness."

An elderly man, who was about to ascend to immortality and exuded an ethereal aura, suddenly burst into tears.

Like a child.

Gingerbread tugged at Fenjue's sleeve, "Quickly appease our sect leader, or it might become a 'legend' in the cultivation world."

Fen Jue smiled and pressed down on her restless hand.

I looked up at the boundless expanse.

"While divine rain is rare, your talent for enlightenment is the key to ascension. We'll meet again at the Heavenly Palace."

"Okay, okay..."

The sect leader wiped away his tears, beaming with joy. Even after his ascension, he would have someone to rely on.

The sect leader, Wuya, rambled on for a long time.

They instructed Qin Jueyi to keep an eye on Immortal Lord Qingxue and True Lord Taixuan, and to tell them not to always quarrel.

They were urged to cultivate themselves diligently.

They painted a picture of a bright future for everyone, encouraging them to work hard and ascend together to heaven to reunite.

Seeing that this newly ascended deity was talking non-stop, showing no sign of stopping.

The colorful sunset seemed a little impatient.

It carried Master Wuya towards the end of the pillar of light.

Before entering the Heavenly Palace.

Wuya channeled his spiritual power and shouted, "Little Bing, to prevent you from slacking off, after I leave, you will serve as the deputy sect leader, assisting Han Chuan in handling sect affairs—"

"Service..."

Accompanied by the echo of the last word.

The azure sky slowly faded, and the Azure Dragon and Crimson Phoenix turned and flew towards the horizon.

Gingerbread blinked blankly. "What did he say?"

Fen Jue pursed his lips, then his smile widened: "I told you I'd appoint you as the vice sect leader to assist Ling Hanchuan."

“But… the Sword Sect doesn’t have a vice sect leader position at all!” Ginger Cake’s little face scrunched up.

Ling Hanchuan walked over silently. "Vice Sect Leader Jiang, you will start working at Giant Sword Peak tomorrow."

After saying this, he lowered his head and bowed reverently to the burning embers.

Then he rushed back to handle official business.
