Chapter 7 For the stars F1 selection...

Chapter 7 For the stars F1 selection...

Wen Mu was shocked at first, but quickly regained his composure.

She had been avoiding the topic of married life. The last time she mentioned not wanting children, she skipped it when she saw that Song Xingran didn't ask any further questions.

But now it seems that the racing driver obviously has no intention of letting her go easily.

"Actually, I." She tilted her head slightly to avoid his hot breath.

"I eat very little, so I don't get hungry easily."

Song Xingran nodded, his eyes sweeping over her slender waistline: "Yeah, I can see that. You barely moved your chopsticks when eating just now."

He leaned in closer, nuzzling the tip of his nose against her earlobe, "But this won't work."

"Look how distressed my mother is," the man chuckled, his fingertips brushing against her wrist subtly, "and..."

"I'd feel bad too."

Wen Mu glanced at him speechlessly, silently stretched out his index finger, touched the man's forehead, and then pushed it away decisively.

Pretend to be affectionate.

She slowly walked to the swing and sat down, then said slowly, "I thought you preferred freedom. After all, doing that kind of thing doesn't feel very free."

"To both of them."

Song Xingran's expression suddenly became intrigued. He placed one hand on the swing rope, trapping her in a tight spot. "Are you so considerate of me?"

"How about we go somewhere else?"

"In the car, on the balcony, in the lab..." His breathing grew heavier with each word. "I'll make sure I don't delay Teacher Wen from watching the stars."

This is not right. Why is the style of painting getting more and more off track?

Wen Mu asked hesitantly, "Are you willing?"

She didn't care, but she was afraid that this "blank slate" young master would turn around and accuse her of "slandering her innocence". After all, he had run away from home at night just to escape his marriage.

The man narrowed his eyes and said, "You are my wife." He emphasized his words.

"If I don't want to be with you, who should I be with?"

Wen Mu hesitated to speak, his eyes complicated.

"Teacher Wen," he lowered his voice, "Do you think I'm that kind of person?"

"Do you want to hear the truth?"

"Do you really think so?!" A storm was brewing between the man's brows.

"I don't think you are."

Just like pressing the pause button, Song Xingran's anger dissipated instantly.

He touched the back of his neck and suddenly turned his face away: "Since I'm married to you."

"You are the only one in my life."

The words were spoken very unfluently, as if squeezed out from between teeth, but his ears were completely red.

Wen Mu was slightly startled.

She envisioned it would be a miracle if this marriage could last two years. Once the funds for the new building were in place, if he insisted on getting a divorce, she could always sign. If he was too embarrassed to ask, she wouldn't mind taking the initiative.

Anyway, for her, divorce is just a life experience, not a stain; for a favored child like him, it is even less worth mentioning. He is young, handsome and rich, and there are still many girls pursuing him after the divorce.

She didn't expect to hear the word "for a lifetime", and it came from the mouth of the man in front of her.

The night wind blew by, and the star lights cast tiny spots of light between the two of them.

The man would steal glances at her from time to time, as if waiting for some important response.

"Yeah," Wen Mu finally said softly, "I know."

"That's it?" Song Xingran frowned unhappily. "Shouldn't you also tell me, 'I'm the only one in your life'?"

Wen Mu hesitated for a moment. The swing swayed gently, and his toes touched the ground.

"You are the only one in my life."

The koi in the pond jumped out of the water, splashing water with a "splash".

The man's Adam's apple rolled and his eyes fell on the woman's slightly trembling eyelashes.

"A Ran——" Chen Sui's voice came from the corridor, "We should go home."

As if startled awake, they both looked away. Song Xingran turned first, striding towards the main house. Wen Mu watched his back, a belated feeling of embarrassment building over him.

Never mind, just treat it as...

Make your brother happy.

She adjusted her skirt and walked into the house. The night breeze blew, and the star lights on the swing swayed gently, casting a fine light on the ground behind her.

*

Wen Mu rarely felt like reading any literature tonight.

She leaned against the headboard, holding a copy of "The Thorn Birds" - one of her few ways to relax.

As a person with extremely calm emotional fluctuations, she needs to experience the extreme state of human emotions through those melodramatic love stories. At this moment, Meggie and Father Ralph's forbidden love is developing to a critical point, but her cell phone suddenly vibrates.

Lgnis: [Home]

Jupiter: [Roger that.]

Lgnis: [Do you usually talk to students like this?]

Jupiter: [No.]

Jupiter: [This is how my teacher spoke to me.]

The message "Inputting" was displayed on the other side for more than ten seconds.

Lgnis: [Can you please stop talking to your husband like that?]

Jupiter: [Roger that.]

The phone was completely silent.

Wen Mu picked up the book again, and Yu Mo's message bombardment suddenly interrupted him.

Momo chirps: [Your fiancé went to your house for dinner tonight???]

Momo chirps: [[screenshot.jpg]]

The screenshot was from Song Xingran's WeChat Moments—a night scene of a backyard pond. The composition was brilliant, the focus on the shimmering water, but a glimpse of a slender leg unexpectedly caught in the upper left corner. The hem of her dark blue skirt rippled in the evening breeze, her ankle looking like a carved piece of white jade.

The text has two words: [beautiful]

Published: 21:27 (3 minutes ago)

Wen Mu stared at the leg that was accidentally caught in the picture for three seconds.

When did this guy secretly take this photo? Why didn't he just amputate her legs?

Jupiter: [I didn't know he posted on WeChat Moments.]

Momo chirps: [How is it? It's the first time for my son-in-law to come to your house. Are you satisfied? ]

Wen Mu recalled Song Xingran's performance tonight. She apologized sincerely, gave thoughtful gifts, and even remembered her father's dietary restrictions when serving food to the elders.

Jupiter: [It's fine.]

Momo chirps: [So it's really settled?]

Jupiter: [Yeah.]

Suddenly, the other party sent five crying emojis to the screen.

Momo chirps: [The cabbage was eaten by a pig!!! (Although it’s a handsome pig)]

Jupiter: [It's alright.]

Jupiter: [I'll just treat it as a dog bite.]

Momo chirped: [You didn't let him go either.]

Wen Mu thought of the hug on the swing. It seemed that it couldn’t be considered a hug. It was him unilaterally invading his safe distance.

His fingertip hovered above the screen and he changed the subject.

Jupiter: [Do you know any racing drivers?]

Momo chirped: [My cousin has it! What, you want to check on your little husband?]

Jupiter: [No.]

Jupiter: [Can you help me with something? ]

Yu Mo sent an emoji with ears pricked up.

Wen Mu deleted and revised it, and finally sent out a line of words.

Jupiter: [What are the average physical stats for professional players like them?]

Jupiter: [That aspect.]

On the other end of the phone, Yu Mo rolled off the bed.

She held the phone in her hands, her pupils trembling, her mind full of "No way, no way". He was asking this right after dinner, was it already?!

No--!

Momo chirps: [Baby, do you think this kind of question is easy to ask???]

Momo chirps: [But from what I can see, it should be... okay? [sneak peek.jpg]]

At least the fight that night was really intense, maybe it can be transferred to...

On the bed?

Wen Mu recalled carefully. Song Xingran had a high nose bridge and long knuckles. As for more specific details...

That night at the racetrack, she seemed to have glanced at him accidentally.

Jupiter: [I agree with your point.]

Yu Mo slammed her pillow in frustration.

Momo chirps: [It's already this late and you're still discussing this in academic terms! ! ! ]

Momo chirps: [I know you guys are definitely going to... after you get married, but you must protect yourselves! [worry.jpg]]

She was genuinely worried. Although Wen Mu was only 168cm tall, she had a slender frame, and Song Xingran's physique looked like it could easily wrap around her.

Yu Mo imagined the scene in her mind and suddenly covered her nose.

Jupiter: [He promised not to have children for two years.]

Momo chirps: [Quite sensible]

Momo chirped: [Then I'll help you find out in the next few days? ]

Jupiter: [Momo is so nice.]

A smirking expression came from the other side.

Momo chirps: [But why are you asking about this? You'll know if you try it~]

Momo chirped: "Oh, I see! If he's not good enough, you'll find another way out?"

Wen Mu pushed his glasses and replied seriously.

Jupiter: [We need to make plans based on data to avoid variables that get out of control during actual operations.]

Yu Mo stared at the line of words three times, then slowly buried her face in the pillow and screamed.

Momo chirps: [I! Give! Up!]

Momo Chirps: [Are you planning to write a "F1 Driver's X-Function White Paper"? ? ?]

Jupiter: [If I have time.]

*

It was six o'clock on Sunday morning and the sky was already bright.

Wen Mu stood in the cloakroom, his fingertips skimming over a row of plain dresses. He finally chose a haze blue silk shirt dress, tied with a thin belt of the same color, and a Tiffany bracelet on his left wrist, which just covered the Latin tattoo.

Cicadas chirped outside the window. She pulled her long hair up loosely and picked up a beige tote bag—a simple and practical one she had bought at Zurich Airport last year. Inside was her star chart and glasses.

"Zhizhi, so early?" Qin Yi was watering the jasmine flowers in the front yard, the water droplets reflecting tiny glints in the morning light. "Can't you sleep in a little longer on the weekend?"

Wen Mu bent down to tie his shoelaces. "Today, there's a summer stargazing event at the planetarium."

"Are you going to be a little teacher again?" Qin Yi smiled and shook his head.

"Mom," Wen Mu raised the corners of his lips slightly, "I'm not a kid anymore."

"You'll always be a little girl in my eyes." Qin Yi reached out and straightened her collar. "Remember to apply sunscreen. The sun is very strong."

The Ningchuan City Planetarium, just across the street from the university town, is a partner institution of the Ningchuan University Astronomy Department. After returning to China, Wen Mu volunteered two weekends each month as a guide.

Pushing open the planetarium's glass doors, a cool breeze mingled with a faint fragrance wafted in. A massive model of the solar system hung in the center of the hall, and a flowing nebula was projected onto the dome. The entire space felt like being encased in a dreamy cosmic bubble.

"Dr. Wen!" A staff member wearing a starry sky T-shirt trotted over. "Are we talking about the Summer Triangle today?"

Wen Mu nodded: "Is the reservation full?"

"It's already full!" the staff member lowered his voice. "Many parents have asked to hear your explanation."

The event starts at nine o'clock sharp.

Wen Mu stood beneath the holographic projection, tapping the control panel with his fingertips. The dome instantly transformed into a summer night's starry sky, the Milky Way stretching like a thread.

"Children, today we're going to find the Summer Triangle." She said in a clear voice, pointing to the bright stars on the projection. "First, find Vega in the constellation Lyra. It's the brightest vertex of this right triangle."

The children sat in a circle on the carpet, looking up at their little faces.

A girl with pigtails raised her hand and asked, "Teacher, can the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl really meet?"

Wen Mu squatted down and patiently explained to her the difference between stellar distance and mythology, with his eyes slightly curved.

During the intermission, Wen Mu realized he had forgotten his water bottle. His hair was damp with sweat, sticking to his fair skin.

"Teacher Wen, have some water." A male researcher wearing black-framed glasses handed over a bottle of mineral water with a red face.

The bottle was halfway through when it was suddenly blocked by a bony hand. Another bottle of sparkling water, with the cap unscrewed, was handed to him, with condensation on the bottle dripping down the slender fingers.

Wen Mu tilted his head. Song Xingran was standing behind him without him noticing. He was wearing a black sleeveless T-shirt, revealing his toned arms. Several metal chains dangled from his overalls, jingling with his movements.

That handsome face was full of dissatisfaction. He raised his eyebrows slightly and stared at the researcher, then turned to her.

"Which bottle do you want?"
