Chapter 128 Dreaming of a Quiet Death...
quiet
Quiet
Deathly silence
Ever since the last incident, Mary and her group have been inexplicably trapped in a delicate and rigid situation.
After Jello returned to adulthood, Johnny unilaterally broke with him, making it a point to never speak to him again. Manden Tim, however, developed a fondness for Jello, admiring his willingness to risk his life for the one he loved. Just when things were clearly about to get off on the right foot, Jello forcibly opened a gap between Mary and Johnny and barged in.
But the intruders were ultimately different from the guests who had been invited, and the relationship between the three of them became awkward. Like twisted parts, they could no longer fit together smoothly and continue their tacit understanding.
With Manden as his new brother, Jello didn't bother to try to curry favor with someone who didn't seem to care. He didn't regret it at all, so why would he bother saying sorry to his rival?
Dating is like war. Mary would kiss him, what does it have to do with Johnny?
Mary didn't know what to say. She knew Johnny was furious, even hating Jero Zeppeli for betraying him. But no matter how much Mary doted on Johnny, she wouldn't give up Jero's life just to make Johnny happy.
Although the three men didn't communicate much, they had to cooperate in order to spend more time with Mary, and tried their best to help Mary speed up and become a potential stock to win the championship.
The three top horse racers took turns competing, teaching Mary many practical techniques and valuable lessons. Under the guidance of these three ace coaches, Mary's skills were further improved. Even if Johnny and the others stopped deliberately slowing down, Mary could still catch up.
From the first to the sixth stage, Mary transformed herself from a bottom-tier rider into a rising star capable of competing with top riders.
Now they were in the channel in the middle of Lake Michigan and were wondering how to cross the river.
"Woo-ooh..." A soft animal cry came from behind Mary. She turned around and saw the little wolf cub she had fed this morning. It had followed them at some point and was cautiously begging for food from her.
"Tsk, Mary, I told you not to feed it, don't feed it. Look, it's caught up with you, right?" Jello yelled. "Who knows if there are wolves hiding behind it? If we're attacked at night, we're doomed!"
"So cowardly?" Johnny snorted coldly. "Weren't you very brave before? Wouldn't you be willing to charge forward for love, even at the cost of your life?"
If he were in his previous state, he would have chosen to feed the furry little cub, but unfortunately, he was so angry that he wanted to kick the dog if it came near him, so he didn't do it.
Damn Italian, damn little punk.
Facing Johnny's sarcasm, Jello also had bad intentions and showed a sinister smile: "You are powerful, you are not afraid. Wait until your butt is bitten by a wolf and becomes crescent moon, then you will know how powerful I am."
After saying this, he grinned smugly, immersed in his own brilliant jokes, looking quite irritating.
Johnny was so angry that veins popped out on his forehead. Before he could retaliate, Johnny's top enemy opened his beautiful lips and sneered, "Hey, long time no see, Joestar-brother, Zeppeli-brother, and... Mr. Tim. I see you guys are getting along really well. I'm really envious."
Looking at the people with different expressions, he mocked them from the bottom of his heart.
Men's friendship is more fragile and thinner than paper. Looking at them like this, you can tell that the friendship boat has capsized.
Jello rolled his eyes in disgust. This man was disgusting in every way. He didn't know how Mary had provoked such a disgusting slug.
Johnny directly asked his slow dancer to block Mary and looked at Diego coldly with an unwelcome look on his face.
Mandon frowned handsomely, but still maintained basic decency: "Long time no see, Diego Brando. What can I do for you?"
Diego slowly dismounted and pulled the wolf cub, curled up in the snow, out of the way. Perhaps because of the dinosaur's aura, or perhaps because the wolf cub was so close to him, the little guy actually curled up into a ball in the man's arms.
Diego took a few pieces of dried meat and fed the little wolf before replying, "I saw Mary passing by and couldn't you come over and say hello?"
When Manden heard this, he felt it was not appropriate to intervene and speak on Mary's behalf to say that this guy was not welcome.
Jello's nose twisted in anger, looking at Diego's hypocritical behavior! He seemed to have said nothing, but in fact he was bullying him! Haha, he was doing the exact opposite of what he said, wasn't he just trying to highlight his own truth, goodness and beauty?!
This wolf cub is also a fool. He can't even realize that the man holding him is a big dinosaur who eats people without leaving any bones.
Diego is a madman who competes with others for everything. He is a man who would eat shit even if it is sharp!
"Now that we've said hello, you should leave quickly." Johnny and the other two men stood in front of Mary from all angles, erecting a thick barrier and trying their best to prevent the two from looking at each other.
I felt upset and wanted to sigh. If Mary hadn't wanted to collect the remains, Johnny would have withdrawn from the competition by now.
The people around me are like sticky candies. You can't drive them away, throw them away, or get rid of them. They can even shamelessly say that they are just traveling the same way and it was not intentional.
Diego looked at them with an unhappy expression. Just as he was about to mock them, his expression suddenly froze.
Jello also instinctively felt uneasy, an instinct born from countless battles. He dismounted, placed the iron ball on the ground, leaned over to listen, and indeed, noticed something was amiss.
"The enemy is coming."
"Enemy?" Mary subconsciously looked at Johnny with a puzzled look on her face.
The purpose of Fanny Valentine recruiting troops was to collect the remains for Mary. Now most of the remains are with Hert Panz. Why did Valentine send people here instead of finding that woman to intercept the remains?
"Are they really enemies, not other contestants?" Mary asked.
Just as Jello was about to answer, Diego spoke again. "No, it's definitely not a rider." He pointed a finger at his nose. "I clearly heard the sound of eleven horses running, but I only smelled the scent of one person. There's definitely something wrong."
"They are very close to us and will be here in less than twenty minutes. What do you want to do, Mary?" Diego asked.
"You go find a way to cross the river first. If you find the trick, you can go first." A silver light flashed in Mary's hand, and the dagger, whiter than snow, carried a chilling aura.
Diego knew Mary's strength too well to worry at all, so he rode his horse to find a safe path.
Manden Tim stayed by Mary's side like a loyal knight. Jero and Johnny separated, each occupying a small area to observe the thickness of the ice.
"If they are really enemies, you go first. Do you understand?" Mary's words startled Manden Tim. Johnny even shouted directly, "Impossible, Mary, how could I let you face danger alone!"
"Who was the person who almost died by the lake last time?" Mary's words made Johnny fall silent.
He had no way to refute it.
In every battle, he was never the winner who controlled the overall situation, but rather a survivor dancing on the edge of a knife. Every victory could be described as a fight to the death.
"I can guarantee my survival, can you?" Mary's tone was gentle, but it was no less sobering than a blow to the head. Johnny wanted to say, "I'm getting stronger and stronger, I can handle things on my own," but he couldn't bring himself to say something as frivolous as, "I'm sure I'll survive."
"I cherish you, and I cherish everyone." Mary listened to the sound of the approaching, even-tempered hooves. She dismounted and handed the reins to Manden Tim. "If a war really breaks out, please protect my horse."
Mandon Tim took the reins. "My pleasure."
Mary stood in the snow, ready for battle.
I hope she is making a big deal out of nothing, and that they will just leave after they find the body on her.
She thought she was prepared, but she was still surprised when she saw the enemy. After all, seeing eleven identical, expressionless faces was incredibly eerie.
"Hand over the body and I will spare your life." Eleven people opened their mouths and made the same sound.
Mary, who had never used her power before, tried her best to get closer to Fani, appearing arrogant and naturally caustic. "Use your stupid brains to remember that I am the president's subordinate with the highest authority. If you know what's good for you, get out of here right now."
After hearing these words, the eleven men responded by drawing and loading their pistols from their waists. Their pistols were rarely positioned in the same way, pointed at different people.
Just as Jello was about to take out the iron ball to fight back, Mary said, "You once swore that your life belonged to me. Now leave and don't bother me!"
After hearing this, Johnny's eyes were blazing again. If it weren't for the need to maintain his image in front of Mary, he would have already said countless swear words.
Diego chuckled sarcastically, "Haha, Italian men are just like that, always giving useless things to others."
As soon as he finished speaking, Manden laughed without restraint. Johnny, sworn enemies with Diego, struggled to suppress the curl of his lips. Jello looked at Diego, regretting that he hadn't listened to Johnny and killed him. If God gave him another chance, he would definitely attack Diego with the iron ball and kill him instantly.
Perhaps realizing that no one took them seriously, anger flashed in the eyes of the eleven people, and they actually said, "Leave the body behind and we'll spare your lives. If you dare to escape, we'll kill you on the spot."
Mary sneered and waved her hand casually: "Just keep going forward. I want to see who can stop you today."
The anger of both sides accumulated at the same time, but different outcomes emerged.
None of them had anticipated that, at full speed, Mary could reach speeds comparable to those of the demons in the stories. Like a hurricane, everyone saw nothing but a flash before their eyes, and the next moment, their guns were completely severed in half.
All the blade edges were surprisingly consistent and extremely smooth.
Before the battle even began, they lost their tools and became fish on the chopping board. Mary, a skilled chef, used her most refined knife skills to cook these brainless fish.
Blood splattered on the snow, forming a dazzling red and white pattern. Mary's blade struck just as she remembered, with impeccable speed. Without any dramatic movements, she stabbed each enemy in the neck, dispatching them all with swiftness.
As the last man fell to the ground in the snow and stopped breathing, Mary heard Jello's cry.
"Mary, will you marry me?"
"Dream on." Johnny raised his middle finger to Jello.
