Chapter 34: Reunion The horses shuttled through the woods, Mary...

The horse shuttled through the woods. Mary searched carefully for footprints on the ground and finally saw fresh footprints half an hour later.

With a gesture to Fani, Mary turned over and dismounted. Fani also tightened the reins to stop his mount.

Mary explored the direction of the footprints alone, her movements like a leopard entering hunting mode. She avoided every dead branch or leaf that made a sound under her feet, and nimbly moved around the dense and chaotic branches and trunks.

Finally, she saw a figure against the light.

He is

"Lilith?" Mary couldn't help but shout out. She thought the other party died alone in the rainy night, but she didn't expect that he was squatting on the ground picking up dry branches at this time.

Hearing Mary's voice, the thin and handsome man in front of him froze in place, and the firewood in his arms fell to the ground with a crackling sound.

He seemed unable to believe this was true: "Is... is it you?"

They were like mirror images, emitting the same emotions. Mary came to her senses first and nodded to Lilith. "It's me." She walked towards him. "Why are you here?"

Fang Ze did not calm down because of Mary's calmness. He took a deep breath and before Mary was about to check on him, he suddenly screamed: "Manden!!! Johnny!!! Mary is really here!!!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of a wheelchair sliding and running was heard not far away.

The first person to emerge from the shadows of the trees was Johnny, whom he had not seen for a long time.

He was thinner than before, and his already small face looked even more delicate than before, especially his eyes, which were like two finely cut blue diamonds embedded in deep eye sockets, filled with her reflection.

Mary had never expected to see Johnny here, and she felt like she was dreaming. She stood there stupidly as Johnny slid his wheelchair towards her.

"Mary!"

She saw tears in the other person's eyes, wet like the blue sky after the rain, so clear and pure that it seemed to suck people in.

The boy grabbed her arm and kept repeating her name anxiously and persistently: "Mary...Mary...Mary" His voice became more and more urgent and louder each time.

"I'm here, Johnny." She kept responding to the boy's call. It was clearly a scene of reunion, but for some reason she felt a lump in her throat.

Perhaps, he was infected by Johnny who was crying in front of him.

Even though he knew Mary wouldn't leave, Johnny still didn't let go of his hand. He held Mary's wrist tightly, never letting go from beginning to end. His other free hand rested on her cheek, savoring the warmth of her skin with his palm.

No matter how many times, Mary would sigh that Johnny was just too handsome.

His features held a feminine softness, yet also a masculine handsomeness. The two blended together to create an inimitable beauty. And this beautiful face gazed deeply into hers, never looking away.

"I'm sorry... Johnny, I didn't tell you about my situation." Mary was the first to apologize, revealing the words she had been holding back. "I'm sorry, but things are really too complicated. If you're willing to give me some time, I'll explain everything clearly."

Johnny grabbed Mary and pulled her into his wheelchair. He sat on her unconscious thighs and tilted his head to listen to her heartbeat. "No..." Tears welled up in his eyes, and he choked out, "As long as you're alive... that's good."

He held Mary with all his strength, as if he were holding his own beating heart, wanting to put this living heart back into his chest. She patted his back soothingly, as gently as if she were treating the only sunshine on a rainy day.

Lilith looked at the scene in front of her, hiding her surprise very well. She had never thought Johnny would have such a personality. She had never seen this guy smile or relax in the past few days. He even rarely showed any expression.

She thought of that rainy night

She thought she would soon fall into the arms of death

Her wounds were so severe that, although she had the ability to heal herself, she lacked the strength to even stand. When she transformed into a dinosaur, her thick skin and flesh blocked some of the blood flow, delaying her death. But for Lilith, this was no less than a slow slicing.

She would rather die quickly than die slowly in cold and fear.

Without any warning, the sounds of fighting around him suddenly disappeared, and the stand ability applied to him was also directly lifted.

Besides the sound of falling raindrops, Lilith could only hear her own heavy breathing. She tried hard to look up and around, but there was only an indissoluble darkness.

All the living people around me disappeared.

This is as good as any ghost story

Blood gushed out again, and the powder on her neck was washed away by the rain. Hypothermia brought her consciousness into a state of confusion, but she knew clearly that she was about to die.

She didn't know if she was on the verge of collapse, but she heard a voice.

"Mary! Mary, where are you?" The man's voice was hoarse, and he seemed to have been calling like this for a long time.

"Oh my god, what the hell is going on here?"

Was this her dying fantasy? Why did she hear Mr. Manden's voice?

But soon she realized that it was real and Mr. Mandon was not her figment of the imagination, because she felt the vibration of the horse's hooves on the ground.

Human life is many times more tenacious than imagined. She found that she still had the strength to speak: "Save me..."

She thought she was screaming at the top of her lungs, but in fact, she had been dissolved by the sound of rain. If Manden had not smelled the blood, she would have been missed.

Mandon Tim dismounted, minimizing the possibility of disturbing the murder scene. This was his professional ethics, and he couldn't change it for the time being. Johnny rode straight inside. When he saw the silver bullet, his breath stopped.

That guy! It really is that guy!

"Johnny, there's a living person here!" Manden's voice did not call Johnny, who was concentrating on thinking. He had actually found two bodies on the ground, but neither of them was Mary. That was not important to Johnny.

The moment Lilith was dug out of the mud and water by Manden, he knew clearly that he was saved.

As long as it's Mandon Tim, he will definitely find a way to save himself.

This was her last thought before she fainted.

When she awoke again, the first thing she saw was the warm candlelight. Its fiery, pulsing red was like seeing life brimming with passion. Lilith felt her pupils well up again. He touched her neck; the fatal wound had been properly bandaged. With trembling hands, she pulled the pills from her bag and swallowed them in large gulps. It took her a long time to recover.

The room was small and shabby, but it had been cleaned and was fairly clean, so he didn't have to worry about getting infected or suffering a secondary injury. There were two other people in the room besides him: Manden, the good man she was familiar with, and Johnny, whom she had met only once.

Before she could rejoice, the blond boy who looked very much like a cat slid his wheelchair in front of her and asked anxiously, "Who are you? Why is there so much blood in that place? Why is Diego's horse there? Did you see the woman with brown hair and silver eyes?"

A barrage of questions made her dizzy. Just as she was trying to sort out her thoughts, the young man in front of her suddenly pushed her shoulder and shouted anxiously, "Speak!"

"Johnny, what are you doing!" Manden stopped Johnny's actions: "Don't you see how badly injured this guy is?"

The young man retorted with a higher-pitched voice, "I'm worried because he's so badly injured!" He spoke bluntly, "I told you, if Mary is dead, you can't expect to live well either!"

"No matter how anxious you are, you can't do this to a seriously injured patient." Manden did not give in. He stood in front of Lilith, but could not block Johnny's sight.

Lilith looked at the young man in front of her. His pupils were a frightening blue in the night. They were cold, empty, and furious... all the bad emotions kept piling up in his eyes, making people think of a cold glacier.

Even with the warm flames behind her, Lilith felt a chill run down her spine. Johnny… didn't feel alive anymore, more like a ghost seeking death on a terrifying rainy night.

Enduring the pain in her throat, Lilith explained the whole story as quickly and efficiently as possible. However, he was listless and his words were a bit disjointed, making his expression far less clear than if he had narrated it in detail.

To his surprise, the horse racer's logic was even clearer than he'd imagined. He quickly sorted out the cause and effect, and the look in his eyes made him feel panic unconsciously: "So... no matter what you did, Mary was still in danger, right?"

Too creepy

Lilith lowered her head. Johnny's eyes were too sharp.

Manden came over to smooth things over: "Let's rest first. If it's really as Lilith said, they are definitely not dead. Now we can only wait."

Johnny also knew that this was the truth, so he unwillingly swallowed all the worries in his heart.

They settled down in the dilapidated house temporarily. Johnny would always stay at the crime scene for a whole day, fearing to miss any movement.

During this long wait, not only Johnny, but even Lilith was waiting impatiently.

She was truly relieved when she saw that Mary was still alive.

The president quickly emerged from behind the bushes, giving her a second wind. He walked briskly, his expression gentle and resolute, completely devoid of the contempt and indifference he had shown when he pushed her to block the knife.

"Mary" Fanny Valentine said, "Who are these three? Could you introduce them to me?"

Mary looked up and said, "From left to right they are Lilith, Johnny Joestar, and Manden Tim."

It was impossible for everyone not to know the president, and Mary was standing in front of everyone, so everyone maintained a superficial peace. Manden was the first to take off his hat and greet Fani: "Hello, it's an honor to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, too." Fani nodded politely, his eyes drifting towards Johnny who was holding Mary's hand tightly.

"...Hello." Johnny responded in a low voice.

Lilith's superficial efforts were far inferior to Fani's. She turned her head away with a stiff expression. Valentine ignored this small matter and went straight to the point: "Have you searched Brakmoya? Have you found a strange mask? If so, please hand it over immediately."

Mary quickly added, "It's a very dangerous weapon and must be destroyed immediately."

Johnny didn't trust the president, but he believed in Mary. Without hesitation, he took out an extremely ugly mask from the bag behind his wheelchair and handed it to Mary.

The damn thing looked like it was carved out of crude stone and was cold and rough to the touch.

This...? This is the thing that can turn people into vampires?

Although she knew Fani wouldn't lie, she still couldn't believe it. Fani saw Mary's doubts and naturally drew his knife and slashed at Mary's palm. Blood gushed from her flesh and dripped onto the mask. Suddenly, something disgusting, like spider tentacles, popped out from behind the mask.

"What are you doing!" Johnny grabbed Mary's bleeding palm and quickly wrapped the bloody wound with his handkerchief.

Fani spread his hands and said, "Young man, I thought you knew Mary's physique."

"Won't she feel any pain?!"

Seeing Johnny's angry expression, Fanny Valentine bowed to Mary in a compromising manner: "I'm sorry, my dear."

Mary patted Johnny's arm soothingly, indicating she was fine. She lowered her head and picked up the threatening stone mask. "Does it work by putting it on a person's face, smearing blood on it, and then triggering a switch?"

"That's right." Fani took the stone mask and smashed it without hesitation.

Manden looked at the two people with serious expressions and suppressed his curiosity.

In the silence, Mary suddenly said, "I want to talk to you alone, Fanny."
