Chapter 78 Ocean "Sir... you are... here...
"Sir... you are... here..." Blackmoya's cold and gloomy voice brought Mary back to her senses. She then realized that she had been sitting in the ward for the entire afternoon.
I thought I had forgotten those memories, but I didn't expect that as long as I thought about it, they were still as vivid as yesterday.
"My Lord... did you discover anything yesterday?" Blackmoya continued, "Last night... you... didn't come home all night..."
"I found Kaz." Mary's words made the other person's eyes light up. He wanted to say something else, but he closed his mouth because of the gesture of silence.
"He's not only powerful, but also incredibly intelligent. I don't think it's wise to fight him here." Mary clenched her fist, leaving her thumb hanging, and waved it toward the window. "This is Naples, after all. If we make a scene, we'll inevitably be investigated."
"Indeed... that's the case..." Blackmoya nodded slightly. "The relationship between countries is inherently... complicated..."
"That's right, so I think holding back is the best option. As for the rest, I'll report back to the president, and he'll make the final decision." After Mary finished speaking, she felt the man look at her strangely, and couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing... I just feel... you" seem to have let go of something and are clearer than before.
Blackmoya thought about it, but still did not say the intimate words. He said businesslike: "Then what should I do next?" He was a subordinate and could not cross this red line and make decisions on his own.
"I need you to investigate whether vampires will appear in Naples starting tonight." She pointed her finger at the ground. "And collect branches from that vampire tree. Preserve them and bring them back to scientists for sampling and research."
"Yes..." The action-oriented Blackmoa immediately set out to carry out the mission, leaving Mary watching the sunset outside the window, worriedly knowing that she would have to fight wits and courage with the annoying Kaz again tonight.
With a soft sigh in her throat, Mary resigned herself to her fate and jumped out of the window. Without disturbing anyone, she landed steadily on the grass.
Hope... everything goes well these days.
Mary prayed silently in her heart and jumped under the crimson clouds.
Although Naples has a warm climate all year round, it is still cold in winter. Mary smelled the salty smell of the sea and stopped at the edge of the sea, trying to see the end of the sea with her naked eyes.
On the other side of the river, far, far away, could Johnny be waiting for her at the agreed place?
The weather there is so cold, it might even snow. Is Johnny wearing enough warm clothes?
Oh, she almost forgot something very important.
Christmas is coming and she has to prepare a gift for Johnny.
And…Diego and Mandon.
Suddenly realizing that there were a few more names in her impoverished mind, Mary couldn't help but curl up the corners of her straight mouth.
"You seem very happy?" A pleasant male voice sounded from behind, ruining Mary's good mood again.
Why is this guy always able to sneak up behind her without anyone noticing? ! !
Suppressing her emotions, Mary tilted her head with a stern expression, her smooth brown hair flowing with her movements like the warm fur of an animal. "Didn't we agree to meet at the same place? Why did you break our agreement without permission?" She returned her gaze to the sea, watching its mechanical ebb and flow. "That's not a sign of obedience."
"Oh?" Kaz, still wearing the same suit from yesterday, uttered a meaningful syllable, paving the way for his next words. "First of all, you broke your promise." He pointed at the completely dark night sky. "You didn't come to see me after dark as promised, so I came here specifically to find you."
"Secondly... you made too much noise at the auction and attracted quite a few people to investigate. Do you want me to stay there and kill them all for dinner?"
After he had said all the good and bad things, Mary could only stop and say: "Okay, it's my mistake." Her eyes were once again fixed on the mysterious sea that had completely turned black. She was not willing to be sucked dry immediately.
"What's so good about this?" Kaz asked.
"Of course it doesn't look good now, because..." Mary bit her tongue before she finished speaking.
She had wanted to tell him that at night the sea almost blended with the sky, looking quite frightening, but as soon as day came, the ocean would turn into a fascinating blue again. Even if one did nothing, just looking at the endless blue would make one feel more open-minded.
But from the time he was born until now, Kaz had never seen such a beautiful and magnificent scene.
She said stiffly, "Just like you said, it really doesn't look very good." She lifted her brown hair, revealing her fair neck, "Eat it."
With Mary's approval, Kaz gladly accepted it. His warm fingers naturally climbed up her neck and slid slowly on it.
Even though Mary was prepared for his blood to be sucked, her body still tensed up because of his actions. She suppressed the urge to fight back and closed her eyes.
One second
Two seconds
The expected pain didn't come. When Mary opened her eyes, she saw Kaz standing by her side, sizing her up jokingly as he observed her nervousness. "It's a bit of a waste to suck blood now."
Knowing that she was being teased again, Mary felt her blood boiling. This time, she started punching Kaz's handsome face without mercy, but he dodged it nimbly.
After missing the first attack, Mary threw another punch without hesitation, but was skillfully blocked by Kaz, who easily resolved the attack that contained terrifying power.
"Yo..." He drawled out his tone with ease: "You are quite a hot-tempered fellow."
"You're such a mean fellow," Mary counterattacked with a cold face. "You're not happy with just a gentle poke from a lady. You're so petty."
Kaz snorted noncommittally, "I won't get beaten for nothing just because of a word from you."
They were fighting and chasing each other along the coastline in a place without street lights, stirring up a strong wind.
Rather than saying they were fighting, it would be more accurate to say they had transformed into animals in nature, with the female and male engaging in a test of each other during their interaction.
"Hey, Mary." Kaz's sudden words made Mary hesitate for a second, and Kaz immediately seized this fleeting opportunity and restrained Mary's two arms.
"you!"
Without giving Mary time to break free, Kaz grabbed her head and tail and plunged towards the raging waves without hesitation.
“Crash!”
Mary felt a sharp pain all over her back the moment the ocean touched her body. Luckily, she didn't fall onto the rocks, as the consequences would have been disastrous.
She didn't even think about where that bastard Kaz was. Instead, she struggled to get her head above the surface and breathed in deeply. The seawater splashed into her mouth, bitter and salty, making her feel sick.
Suddenly, her feet were grabbed by a pair of large hands, and she was so frightened by the scalding sensation of the warm and cold sea water that she almost swallowed another mouthful of sea water. She immediately jumped on her toes and kicked backwards desperately.
Kaz had anticipated her attack pattern, and he finally floated to the surface, his long purple hair floating with the waves, and his fair skin, stained by the moonlight, looked like the bewitching siren in the sailor's story.
Mary found herself constantly forcing herself to let go of her anger because of Kaz's face. She sighed imperceptibly and said helplessly, "What on earth are you going to do?"
"No reason." His blood-red pupils, perhaps tempered by the ocean currents, revealed a gentle tranquility. "It just suddenly occurred to me that I've never been in contact with the ocean, so I wanted to experience the difference between the sea and the stream."
"And what was the result?"
"It's more fun than I thought." Kaz quickly mastered the technique of maintaining balance in the ocean, easily surfacing his entire body as if lying on a water bed. "Do you have any recollection of the past at all?"
Mary, in the same pose, gazed at the starry sky, yet she could hardly help feeling lonely: "I can't remember anything...my age, birthplace, parents, friends, even my name...I know nothing."
"I see..."
"Um."
There was no further communication between them. Mary and Kaz both had extraordinary patience at times. They just wandered in the embrace of the ocean, appreciating the starry sky that humans had not yet reached with pure eyes.
A huge wave hit Mary, who was lighter than Kaz, and was instantly pushed dozens of meters away. Before she could even glance at Kaz, she was grabbed by a pair of broad hands, belonging to Kaz.
Feeling the warmth from her palm, Mary really wanted to ask how she knew I was here.
But she already knew the answer in her heart. Kaz must be paying attention to her all the time, so that he could reach her side in an instant and grab her hand accurately in the dark.
She tilted her head to look at the flawless Kaz and suddenly asked a question: "What does it feel like to be almost immortal?"
"What a strange question," Kaz replied. "I've read books written by humans, and they either have an extreme obsession with immortality, or they look upon it with awe and fear. As someone who actually possesses immortality, I simply think it's perfectly normal, and I have no other thoughts at all."
"But without your tribe, aren't you lonely at all?"
"Of course not," Kaz denied flatly, his words becoming increasingly obvious. "There are so many interesting things in this world. Even after all these years, I still haven't experienced much. How could I possibly have the time to feel... lonely?"
“Is that so…?”
The two men fell into silence again. They idly enjoyed the waves of the sea and felt the fish swimming beside them. These fragile lives had no idea that these two men were much stronger than sharks, and trust slipped through their fingertips.
Kaz silently watched the schools of fish coming one after another, and moved his body to make it easier for them to pass.
Mary took his behavior to heart and felt that his complexity had risen to a new level.
They spent the entire night leisurely in the sea. When the dark clouds in the distance slowly changed to other colors, Mary quickly pushed Kaz beside her and said, "Get up. It's time for us to leave."
"No," Kaz's voice trembled with the enthusiasm of a gambler, "I won't leave before the sun rises."
"Are you kidding me?!" Mary yelled. "Once the sun comes out, it will be bright soon. It will be so fast that you won't have any chance to regret it."
Kaz ignored Mary's pushing and clasped his arms around Mary's waist to ensure they stayed tightly together and were not separated by the waves.
"Come on," his voice was filled with suppressed excitement, "The sun!!"
He gasped heavily, and his scarlet tongue licked the water droplets on Mary's neck restlessly, reminding Mary of a wild wolf in the wilderness.
A red sun slowly emerged from the edge of the ocean. At this moment, Kaz bit through Mary's skin without hesitation and swallowed the warm blood in big gulps.
Mary watched the golden sunlight approaching her step by step, climbing onto her shoulders, and white smoke from the burning flesh rose from behind her. The sound of it was terrifying.
"Kaz, let's go!!"
Without even looking up, the other person fought with her wounds that were beginning to heal, mumbling incoherently with a bloody mouth, "It's... no use!!"
Mary lowered her head nervously and looked at Kaz's arms around her waist. Although his hands were burned red, they did not dissolve exaggeratedly.
As the sun climbed higher into the sky, the dark sea water unknowingly turned into Mary's favorite blue.
It's dawn
Kaz is still alive
