Chapter 93 Tied to the Mountain

Perhaps the bumpy ride was too much, and Tong Wenyao woke up. She frowned and carefully looked around. It was too dark! Maybe it had just rained, so the moonlight was not very bright, and there were occasional dark clouds obscuring it. She was lying on the donkey, and there were two people holding torches in front of her, and two more behind her, escorting them up the mountain.

She could barely see the road on the ground, and her first impression was that it was too steep. Xing'er was next to her, but Tong Wen Yao did not wake her up to avoid scaring her.

After walking for about half an hour, Tong Wen Yao saw them enter a cave. It was pitch black inside and it would take about a quarter of an hour to pass through the cave. Then they had to climb up. Fortunately, they were on the back of a donkey, so it would be much easier as long as the donkey climbed up. What made Tong Wen Yao speechless was that mosquitoes still bit her in the middle of winter. But think about it, the temperature in the mountains is much warmer than outside, and they were lucky not to be bitten by poisonous snakes or beasts as they were walking through the forest.

After walking for more than half an hour, Tong Wenyao finally saw the red light shining above her head. Seeing this, Tong Wenyao immediately pretended to be unconscious. The two people behind her came to untie them and carried them to a room. Their hands and feet were tied up. Thinking that they were still unconscious, they threw them to the ground and left them alone. It was not until the sound of the door closing that Tong Wenyao opened her eyes and looked around.

At this moment, the cool moonlight poured in through the wooden window. After his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he could barely make out the room. It seemed that there was another woman in the room. After Tong Wenyao half sat up, the woman beside him asked softly, "Were you also captured from the inn?"

After hearing this, Tong Wenyao did not resume her female voice, but continued to speak in the voice of an old man, "Miss, I originally wanted to take my daughter to Cangzhou for treatment, but I had to stay at an inn halfway. I didn't expect this to be a black-hearted inn. They robbed me of my money and even tried to kill me to silence me. I finally stood up to resist, but I didn't know I would wake up here."

As Tong Wen Yao was speaking, she pulled the girl's hand with her bound fingers and said, "Girl, what should I call you?" The woman probably didn't expect Tong Wen Yao to be so calm and didn't seem afraid at all. Instead, she asked her name. However, she still had to finish the task quickly as she was almost freezing to death in this fireless room.

"Just call me Liu'er. Old man, don't your family members object to you taking your daughter to Cangzhou for medical treatment?" Tong Wenyao sighed and continued, "My daughter and I depend on each other for survival. If her illness can't be cured, I won't live either."

Liu'er frowned, a hint of anger rising within her. She wondered what the third brother was doing, capturing two people. He had no money, no people. What could a sickly old man like him do in the village? He was worse off than the couple next door! At least his family said they would pay the ransom.

Even though Liu Er cursed in her heart, she didn't show it on her face for a moment. Instead, she asked with a concerned tone, "I wonder what disease your daughter has and what medicine she is taking now?"

Tong Wenyao heard this and sighed, "Tuberculosis!"

When Liu'er heard this, her face changed drastically. This damned Third Brother had actually brought this infectious disease here! Hearing that the woman was actually suffering from tuberculosis, Liu'er didn't want to stay here for a moment. However, the task assigned to her by the eldest brother was to find out the old man's background, and now she had almost completed it, so she should get out as soon as possible!

While she was still thinking, she heard a cough nearby. Liu'er immediately moved away from Tong Wenyao. Damn it, could this old man also be infected with tuberculosis? She had just been talking so close to him, would he infect her?

The thought of staying with these two patients made her feel uncomfortable all over, as if bugs were biting her body. After Tong Wenyao closed her eyes and rested for a while, she heard the woman next to her wailing. The sound continued. The person guarding the door opened and said, "What are you doing, you little bitch!"

Tong Wenyao glanced at the gatekeeper quietly. Although she called him a little hoof, her tone was respectful. It seemed that her guess was right! A person who was locked in a room by bandits couldn't have such clean hair. Even her face and hands were not obviously dirty.

Tong Wen Yao sneered in her heart. She had encountered this trick many times in her previous life. She had been caught and trapped in a room before. There was also a person of about the same age as her. At that time, she thought she was also a wanderer in the world.

Unexpectedly, it was a trap of theirs. After the woman got the words out of her, she actually wanted to kill her to silence her. Fortunately, she reacted quickly and was smart enough, so she led them to the place where the supplies were hidden. Finally, Tong Wen Yao used zombies to fool them. From then on, Tong Wen Yao became cautious.

When she came back to her senses, she saw the gatekeeper pulling Liu'er out and then slamming the door shut. At this time, Tong Wen Yao woke Xing'er up.

Xing'er was knocked unconscious. She frowned and touched the back of her head. "Dad, where is this?" Tong Wenyao stretched out his hand and shushed him. "Wait a minute, I'll sneak out and check the situation. You stay here and cover for me."

When Xing'er heard this, she thought this was impossible and said hurriedly, "Miss, let me go!" Tong Wen Yao touched her head. There were many bandits, so they could not win by fighting, so they could only rely on wits!

Just then, the gatekeeper took Liu'er away. Tong Wen Yao took a look at the rope on her hand and quickly moved her fingers. After a while, the rope loosened a little. Tong Wen Yao just took her hand free, and even the binding on her feet was untied in a moment.

"Xing'er, stay here. I'll be back soon." Tong Wen Yao felt that people outside didn't need to think that the two of them were powerless. So after Tong Wen Yao pried open the door, there was no one outside. Instead, there were cries coming from the next room.

At this moment, Tong Wenyao didn't think about going to see what was going on. The most important thing now was to find out how many people were in the village and how many weapons they had. In fact, Tong Wenyao was still thinking about whether she could find where they kept their money. If she could find it, it would be even better. She could just plunder their money.

The houses in the village were built along the mountainside. The higher you went, the better the houses became. The top floor even had blue bricks and red tiles. Tong Wenyao narrowed her eyes, climbed up a tree, entered the space, changed into a nightgown, and came out. The girl wrapped around her waist obediently, making her look slender and thin.

Tong Wen Yao tried her best to move closer to the top of the mountain from the house next to her. Fortunately, as the night deepened, most of the people in the village had already gone to bed, except for the room at the top where a fire was still on!
