Monster Hunting in the Misty Mountains 2

Monster Hunting in the Misty Mountains 2

Ce Mie couldn't shut his mouth at all; he kept muttering a lot of nonsense the whole way. Huai Wen didn't like listening to it, but he didn't shut him up either.

Their chattering as they moved through the mountains and forests provided some noise, preventing the place from becoming too quiet.

The fog in the mountains and forests was still very thick. Huaiwen reached out to touch it and could sense that it wasn't created by Ce Mie. It was something that naturally existed in the mountains and forests, but it was very thick, even thicker than the fog Ce Mie had created, making it impossible to see the road.

Although the two continued to fly forward, they were practically traveling through thick fog, relying on Huaiwen's small nightlight to illuminate their path.

After a while, Ce Mie said they were almost there. The two flew down and landed on the ground. As they walked forward, the fallen leaves on the ground made a crisp sound under their feet.

The ground is dry. Huaiwen thought to himself, and unconsciously became alert.

Are you sure those people are here?

Ce Mie slumped down, his face expressionless, and replied, "I'm not so bad that they don't even remember where I ate."

Huaiwen clearly didn't believe her completely, and she put on airs to scare her: "If you lead me the wrong way, I'll eat you up."

Ce Mie, who was walking in front, turned around and glared fiercely at Huai Wen: "I'll eat you! You want to eat a demon all by yourself! You're incredibly audacious! You've gone too far!"

Huaiwen's playful side kicked in again, and she laughed, "But now that I've caught you, I can say whatever I want."

Ce Mie gritted his teeth: "You..."

"Just you wait," Ce Mie didn't say the second half of the sentence! After he turned around, his fierce and angry mood vanished in an instant.

Suddenly, fallen leaves swirled up, surrounding Huaiwen layer by layer. Huaiwen assumed this was Ce Mie's tactic and wasn't too worried. But when she broke through the siege of leaves, she was horrified to find that Ce Mie was gone.

But her Clear Sword was still binding Ce Mie! He couldn't possibly have escaped! Huaiwen looked around, but all she saw were trees and thick fog; she couldn't tell where she was!

She sensed something was wrong; she was afraid she had fallen into Ce Mie's trap amidst his incessant rambling! She had now entered Ce Mie's snare!

She flew upwards, but before she could reach the height of a tree, she could no longer fly. Huaiwen landed back on the ground, realizing she had no choice but to disperse the fog first.

She intended to disperse the fog as she had done before. But as soon as she raised her hand, she sensed hidden weapons shooting towards her from all around.

When the hidden weapon was right in front of her, Huaiwen realized it was her Mingjing Sword! She grabbed the hilt and was pulled backward by the enormous force.

Then she heard Ce Mie's mocking voice: "You underestimate me! Your sword can't bind me here! I'll teach you a lesson—just wait to die."

Ce Mie's sinister and cunning voice echoed in Huai Wen's ears. Before Huai Wen could even identify the voice, she lost her balance and was pulled along. Then she felt her body become heavy and cumbersome; although she was being dragged along the ground, it felt like she was in water, unable to breathe.

Fortunately, Huaiwen managed to stay still. She broke free from the force, half-kneeling on the ground, clutching her chest to catch her breath. But before Huaiwen could catch her breath any longer, she was struck by branches from all directions.

These tree branches were far more formidable than the vines Ce Mie had initially created. They were like people, adept at strategizing and taking turns confronting Huai Wen's swords. Before she could react, a branch struck Huai Wen's back, causing her to wince in pain.

Huaiwen knew she had already separated herself from her body, diverting her energy and magical power. She couldn't continue this stalemate, wasting her energy. She needed to think of a new plan.

Since these trees look exactly like people, let's tie them all up! As soon as the idea came to mind, Huaiwen immediately put it into practice, and the trees were soon unable to move.

But Huaiwen was not out of trouble yet. She thought she still needed to break through the mountains and fly into the sky to see where she was.

Huaiwen gathered his strength in his dantian, and with a burst of energy, raised his sword and broke through the invisible barrier, flying out of the forest. Outside, the sunlight was gentle, and a light breeze blew. But the forest below was a vast labyrinth!

Huaiwen looked around, her brow furrowing. This wasn't Qimin Mountain! She had specifically looked at the terrain before coming here; it wasn't like this!

Not far from the mountains and forests, a vast expanse of tender pink could be seen. It was the flowering season, and the entire mountain was covered in blossoms, shimmering with golden light under the sun, like a scene from a fairyland. A gentle breeze blew, and the clouds swirled around, and she seemed to smell the fragrance of the flowers.

Huaiwen gazed at the beautiful mountain scenery, wondering where she was.

A sudden gust of wind blew Huaiwen's straw hat away, and she chased after it. The hat fell rapidly, and just as she was about to grab it, a cold light pierced through, splitting the hat in two. Huaiwen dodged to the side, and before she could even glance down, someone flashed in front of her, giving her a cold, icy look.

In that instant, Huaiwen seemed to lose her balance, plummeting downwards. She was falling with lightning speed; she feared she would be torn to pieces upon impact. Huaiwen suppressed the panic in her eyes; her body was being controlled, and she couldn't break free.

Fortunately, she can still move her wrist.

At the critical moment, Huaiwen was quick-witted enough to throw his Mingjing sword behind him, using it to brace himself against the force of the fall. Fallen flowers swirled and scattered everywhere, but Huaiwen managed to land on his toes, avoiding being torn apart.

She flipped over, grabbed the Mingjing sword, spun around twice, and before she could even stand up straight, the fallen petals gathered together like flowing yet sturdy ribbons, attacking her from behind. Huaiwen dodged to the side, but the ribbons of petals came from multiple places, attacking Huaiwen haphazardly.

With a determined heart, Huai Wen raised his gleaming sword and, in a swift motion, caught the haphazardly falling petals. He controlled them with his sword, pushing them away from the force of the falling blossoms. With each step he pushed them out, he circled back, and slowly, it became a sword dance amidst the flower-filled forest.

Falling petals brushed against her moon-white outer garment, as if they were not meant to harm, but rather dancing petals, graceful as a dragon in flight, elegant as a startled swan. Huaiwen's feet seemed to be on clouds, light and agile, yet each sword strike she made revealed vigor and power.

She lacked the coquettishness and allure of a dancer, instead possessing the composure and resilience of a victor. The fallen petals seemed to be mere playthings in her hands, allowing her to manipulate them and dance them in the most beautiful arcs.

As if a dance were drawing to a close, the fallen petals swirling beneath Huaiwen's sword flew upwards on her toes, the petals following her like intertwined ribbons, soaring together towards the clouds. Finally, Huaiwen gently touched the petals beneath her feet.

In an instant, petals floated down, scattering freely in the air.

Huaiwen fell slowly, mingling with the falling petals, and she saw that person again.

He was born with a cold and aloof beauty, his brows and eyes sharp and piercing. When he lowered his gaze, one could see his long, thin eyelashes. His nose was high and straight, outlining his arrogant profile. His thin lips were tightly pressed together, exuding an air of unparalleled pride. His long, black hair was casually scattered, with a few stray strands falling across his forehead, adding a touch of untamed wildness.

His fair and translucent skin made him appear even more aloof. He wore a crimson brocade robe with cloud-patterned designs embroidered with ornate gold trim. A jade pendant depicting landscapes hung at his waist, adding a touch of elegance. A red jade jewel adorned his shoes, revealing his wealth and extravagance in every detail.

The ultimate luxury and wealth are on full display. This is the complete opposite of Huaiwen, who is dressed in plain clothes.

The man simply stared at Huaiwen without speaking. Huaiwen lowered his gaze, thought for a moment, and then spoke first, asking, "Who are you?"

The man coldly retorted, "You come here and ask who I am?"

Huaiwen sighed inwardly and explained, "I didn't mean to barge in here. I accidentally fell into a trap set by someone else, which is why I came here."

"In other words—you destroyed my magic arrays."

Huaiwen frowned and nodded helplessly, but it wasn't what she wanted. The man's face showed no change in emotion; he lazily rolled his eyes, his voice languid yet warning: "So you came here because you want to die, right?"

Huaiwen shook his head calmly: "Who likes to die?"

"You."

Huaiwen felt a lump in his throat and was speechless. After thinking for a moment, he weakly retorted, "I'm not."

The man raised an eyebrow, suddenly flew several meters higher, looked down at Huaiwen, and said listlessly, "You know, you deserve to die."

Huaiwen was displeased. She disliked impolite people. She gripped her Mingjing sword tightly and retorted in an unyielding tone, "And what about you? You should have been under my sword."

The man sneered: "A sword?"

The moment he finished speaking, a knife appeared in his hand. Huaiwen had never seen that knife before, nor the animal patterns on it. Before she could figure out who this person was, she heard him say to her with a cold sneer, "Killing you is as easy as turning my hand."

A gust of wind suddenly blew, scattering cherry blossoms from the trees towards them. Huai Wenxin felt heavy-hearted. She thought that if someone could create countless formations, it meant that their strength was formidable and should not be underestimated.

She was brought here by Ce Mie, so it's hard not to wonder what connection the two have. Thinking this, Huaiwen suddenly realized: since this is a place Ce Mie knows, and someone he knows well, then this person is not human. Thinking this, Huaiwen felt a chill run down his spine.

Did she encounter the Demon King the moment she left the mountain?

Soon, the man confirmed Huaiwen's suspicions. Golden-red flames appeared in his hand, which he tossed into the air, rapidly forming a massive protective net. This was far more powerful and robust than the small mountain forest barrier she had broken. Huaiwen thought she was likely about to be slaughtered; she was about to face a life-or-death struggle.

But Huaiwen didn't expect that the man would smile and say, "Come to me, and I'll take you back."

Huaiwen was momentarily stunned. Her large, clear eyes held a hint of doubt, her lips curled up to the sides, then slowly lowered, she tilted her head, then straightened it again, still unable to find an answer.

Finally, she tentatively asked, "Are you going to trap me?"

"No."

"That is..."

"You've been poisoned."

"Hmm...?" Huaiwen closed his eyes in confusion and fainted.

A scream echoed throughout the mountains and forests. If Huaiwen had been awake, she would have heard it. Ce Mie roared, "Damn Lingshan Xuan Ye! I'll kill you!"

Xuan Ye cradled the unconscious Huai Wen in cherry blossom petals, a smile playing on his lips. He felt everything was just right.

This continuous mountain range was all his territory, Ling Shan Xuan Ye's. He didn't actually like setting up formations on his own land. But decades ago, someone came here, cut down trees, burned down the forest, and destroyed his entire mountain.

Enraged, Xuan Ye killed those people and set up many formations to prevent people from entering. Anyone who accidentally entered would only be left to die.

Later, people became afraid and never came here again. But this also provided a place for those with ill intentions or demons to escape or trap others.

Ce Mie took advantage of this. He was a demon, an unkillable demon. He knew how to escape and how to trap people inside.

He had done this before, more than once. But this time, he had clearly failed. He hadn't expected Huaiwen to be able to break through three of Xuan Ye's magic arrays in succession, alarming Xuan Ye himself.

He originally wanted to escape before Xuan Ye discovered him, but he also wanted to see Huai Wen being beaten pitifully by Xuan Ye, so he hid to the side and watched.

He was surprised to see Huaiwen's graceful and elegant dance. He had to admit, this woman was quite talented! She was also quite refined and had an appreciation for beauty.

Finally, because he was too engrossed in the scene of Huaiwen dancing with his sword, he made a commotion and was caught by Xuan Ye.

After dealing with Ce Mie, the clouds had been dyed purplish-red. Xuan Ye glanced at Huai Wen, who was floating in mid-air and sleeping soundly.

The image of Huaiwen taming his falling flower formation flashed through his mind. Others had tried to break into his territory before, but most had died from the moving tree formations.

Few could break through the barrier he had set up in the clearing above the mountains. He simply didn't want anyone who entered to be able to escape from there. He wanted to trap and kill anyone who ignored warnings or broke in, giving them absolutely no chance of survival.

Not to mention that someone had wandered into his beautiful cherry blossom grove. He thought, this person was an accident.

And, surprisingly, he also thought that Huaiwen was beautiful when he tamed the fallen flowers.
