The quest for a quilt is fraught with hardship.

The quest for a quilt is fraught with hardship.

The three discussed it again and finally decided to take it one step at a time.

As darkness fell, the three searched all along but couldn't find a hut to stay in, so they had no choice but to find a place to rest in the forest. The bald cypress trees were too tall to stand on, so Rong Yun, a boorish man, lay down on the weeds and fallen leaves and fell fast asleep.

Before Mo Heng ascended to become a priest, he was a young master. He used to be a germaphobe, and his daily life was taken care of by others. However, after becoming a priest, no one helped him anymore, so he had no choice but to learn from Rong Yun, Cang Lun, and Shi Yulu.

Although he was trying to learn, he was still lacking in skill. He was still concerned about his daily life. For example, right now he was frowning as he picked up fallen leaves one by one and placed them aside, as if he wanted to clear away the weeds before lying down.

Huaiwen thought for a moment and then strung a rope between the two trees. She floated up and lay down comfortably. Mo Heng wanted to try it too, but he wasn't good at balancing and fell several times. After finally getting into position, he found the rope uncomfortable and gave up, lying obediently on the ground.

The moonlight fell on the three of them, the autumn wind blew, and Huaiwen gradually fell asleep.

The birdsong was melodious. Something was thrown at Huaiwen, who suddenly woke up. She grabbed the small stone that was thrown at her and looked down. It was two little fox demons.

When the two little fox demons saw that Huaiwen had woken up, they didn't run away. They were very bold and even questioned Huaiwen about why he wanted to take their territory.

The noise woke Mo Heng and Rong Yun. Rong Yun went up to deal with the two little fox demons, but Mo Heng stopped her. Huai Wen also climbed down from the rope and walked up to the two little fox demons, asking, "Then how can you prove this is your territory?"

The little fox shouted, "We have our own marks. Anyway, you've come to our territory."

Rong Yun, hands on his hips, said, "What, do you want to collect protection money?"

The little fox shook its head: "We don't want protection money, we just don't like strangers coming."

Mo Heng immediately softened his tone and said, "Since we've come to your territory by accident, can you let us stay here? If we find a way to go home, then we'll naturally go home. We won't stay here indefinitely."

The two little foxes began to whisper to each other, scanning Huaiwen and the others up and down, before finally saying, "Then you come with us to see the boss. If the boss agrees, we have no objections."

"Who knows, the boss might even help you get home," said the other little fox.

And so, Huaiwen and the others followed the two little fox demons to see their leader. The two little fox demons led Huaiwen and the others across the bald cypress trees, across a log bridge, around a small hill, and suddenly the view opened up.

A huge waterfall cascades down vertically. Not far from the waterfall stands a giant cherry blossom tree, but at this time of year, the cherry blossoms are a mix of orange and green, and a few leaves occasionally drift down.

"Boss~" the little fox rushed over, "We brought back three lost people."

Following the little fox's retreating figure, Huaiwen and his companions saw a person emerge from behind a giant cherry blossom tree. The person was tall and elegantly dressed, and when Huaiwen saw their face, he was astonished. This person was none other than Lingshan Xuanye.

Mo Heng stared in disbelief, muttering to himself, "His face was like solidified cream, his eyes like polished lacquer, his demeanor dignified and refined, his spirit bright and clear."

Rong Yun smirked, "This is their leader?"

Upon hearing this, Huaiwen suddenly remembered that when Xuan Ye met Mo Heng and Rong Yun as a follower, he was in a different guise. Only Huaiwen had seen this new guise before, which was why she recognized him.

Xuan Ye slowly raised his head under the cherry blossom tree. His eyes were filled with suppressed emotions. He looked at Huai Wen with an indescribable tenderness. The wind brushed against his body, and his black hair fluttered.

Xuan Ye didn't move forward; Huai Wen walked up to him first, cautiously asking, "A Ling?"

"Um."

Huaiwen breathed a sigh of relief: "It seems that only you haven't been affected."

Xuan Ye did not answer. When Huai Wen asked him if he had seen her senior brother, he replied, "I haven't seen him."

Mo Heng and Rong Yun stepped forward, looking at the two and asking about their relationship. Xuan Ye smiled and said, "Her little follower."

Mo Heng and Rong Yun were surprised for a moment, but immediately accepted it. They had changed genders here, so it wasn't surprising that their little follower had changed his appearance.

Rong Yun asked, "What do we do now? We haven't found a way out yet."

Xuan Ye replied calmly, "No rush. Since you're here, make the best of it. You should rest for a couple of days first."

“That’s true.” Rong Yun said, touching the cherry blossom tree. “This tree is quite big and has a lot of spirit.”

Mo Heng nodded approvingly: "If we came here during the cherry blossom season, how beautiful it would be."

"Absolutely! When the cherry blossoms bloom, their fragrance alone can travel for miles!" the little fox demon boasted.

During a brief chat between the little fox demon and Mo Hengrong, Huaiwen asked Xuanye why the two little fox demons called him "boss." Xuanye joked, "Because I'm also a fox, and I'm big."

Huaiwen laughed: "You're much more witty than before."

Xuan Ye nodded arrogantly, and Huai Wen said, "Let's go, let's find my senior brother first, and then see how to escape from here."

"good."

The four of them began to walk outside, searching everywhere. Huaiwen spotted a certain spot and was about to head in that direction when he heard Xuanye call out that he had already searched that area. Huaiwen didn't think much of it, turned back, and continued on his way.

After a whole day, the four of them hadn't found anything. Exhausted, Rong Yun sat on a wooden stump and muttered to himself, "Luckily, I'm a priest now, otherwise I'd be too tired and hungry to keep up."

Xuan Ye stared at Huai Wen and stood up on his own: "Wait for me a moment, I'll find you something good to eat."

Huaiwen smiled and nodded in acceptance. As Xuan Ye walked away, Rong Yun immediately teased him, saying that Xuan Ye's behavior when looking for food before and now was completely different. Last time, he insisted that everyone accompany him in his antics, but this time he went by himself.

Mo Heng looked at Huai Wen with a smile. He had a lot to say, but seeing Huai Wen's calm and composed expression, which seemed to indicate a polite refusal, he remained silent.

How could he not understand?

Mo Heng smiled kindly, but Rong Yun, who was standing next to him, couldn't stand it and kicked him. Mo Heng, who lost his balance, was pushed to the ground. He rolled over and tried to get up, but then he saw a huge snakeskin.

Startled, he jumped up. Rong Yun didn't react because Mo Heng always overreacted. Huai Wen, on the other hand, stepped forward and caught a glimpse of the snakeskin that had frightened Mo Heng.

The snake's skin was yellow and green, three meters long and half a meter wide. The skin was glossy, as if it had just shed its skin. Looking further ahead, one could clearly see the tracks left by the snake. The presence of such a huge snake in this place was bound to arouse curiosity.

In her astonishment, Rong Yun was about to catch up and investigate. Huai Wen had originally planned to wait for Xuan Ye to return before going, but Rong Yun lacked patience, so Huai Wen devised a compromise. She left behind a spirit butterfly and followed after him with a frown.

The snake moved in a zigzag pattern, and they saw bloodstains along its path. The three became wary. The closer they got to the snake, the colder they felt.

The three carefully stepped on the fallen leaves, but with dead wood mixed in, they inevitably made noises. Snakes have extremely sensitive hearing, so the three had no choice but to decide to float in the air.

"hiss--"

The snake suddenly lunged and bit Rong Yun's arm. Rong Yun endured the pain and quickly punched the snake, which then released its grip, jumped onto a tree, and coiled around it.

Mo Heng drew his sword and thrust it forward, but unexpectedly the snake was incredibly agile. It coiled around Mo Heng's sword and crawled up the sword to Mo Heng's body.

Rong Yun immediately pulled out his spear, intending to pry it off Mo Heng, but saw the snake flicking its tongue, about to bite Mo Heng's neck.

Rong Yun stopped, and Mo Heng tensed up. He could feel that if he raised his sword to kill the snake, it would bite off his neck even faster. The worst outcome would be mutual destruction.

Huaiwen stared at the giant snake, noticing the blood still stained its teeth. She guessed that the snake had just shed its skin and desperately needed to eat to replenish its energy.

"Mo Heng, don't move around," Huaiwen instructed.

Rong Yun added, "Listen to her. Don't do anything yet. Let me think of a solution."

Mo Heng nodded obediently, and the snake began to nibble at his scent, seemingly quite satisfied. The snake also wanted to bite, but Huai Wen and Rong Yun would surely kill it when it did.

The giant snake, seemingly hesitant, suddenly exhaled a bewitching aura at Mo Heng, causing him to turn and flee. Rong Yun and Huai Wen immediately gave chase.

The giant snake also emitted a bewitching aura towards Huaiwen and Rongyun, but they dodged it. Rongyun was quite worried, so he swung his spear, trying to stop Mo Heng from continuing to run forward.

The snake was so ferocious that when Rong Yun approached, it suddenly stretched out half of its body, trying to bite again, but Rong Yun hit it with a large rock, causing it pain.

Rong Yun, who had been chasing after the snake, suddenly succumbed to the poison. He struggled, clutching his head and foaming at the mouth. Huai Wen immediately pressed his acupoints and sprinkled medicinal powder on the snake bite to stop the poison from spreading.

Rong Yun had no choice but to stop where he was. Huai Wen instructed him to leave a signal for Xuan Ye, while he continued to chase after them.

Mo Heng, bewildered, was about to be bitten by the giant snake. In desperation, Huai Wen had no choice but to resort to a desperate measure. With a swift movement, she appeared in front of Mo Heng and sprinkled yellow powder onto the giant snake.

The giant snake was in pain and flicked its tongue, but it also intended to release Mo Heng. Instead, it became even more ferocious and viciously bit down on Mo Heng's neck.

Huaiwen could only extend his own hand to take the bite instead. Mo Heng saw this and, without saying a word, used his hand to pry the giant snake off his body, then raised his sword and slashed down, splitting the giant snake in two.

The snake's head was still writhing when Mo Heng stepped forward and delivered another blow, blood splattering out. Panting, Mo Heng didn't dare waste a moment and hurriedly ran to Huai Wen's side.

Mo Heng was extremely anxious and at his wits' end: "What should I do? What should I do?"

"Make way!" Xuan Ye rushed over.

He shoved Mo Heng aside, took Huaiwen's injured hand, and sucked the poison from it. Huaiwen's heart tightened, and she cried out, "Stop sucking! This poison is very potent!"

Xuan Ye ignored these words. After absorbing the snake venom, he used magic to treat Huai Wen's wound. Finally, he tore off half of his sleeve and used it to bandage Huai Wen's wound.

After everything was taken care of, Xuan Ye finally breathed a sigh of relief. Huai Wen, seeing this, reassured him, "Don't be nervous, this snake venom isn't enough to kill me."

Xuan Ye said calmly, "Huaiwen, this is the Illusionary Mirror. You cannot let your guard down."

Seeing that Xuan Ye was truly angry, Huai Wen dared not say anything more and could only obediently agree, "I understand."

Xuan Ye helped Huai Wen up from the ground and said to Mo Heng, "You are priests, you should protect her, not have her protect you."

Mo Heng replied with shame. Whether before or after becoming a priest, he was always the one being protected. If being protected was due to his parents' love when he was a young master, then continuing to do so as a priest was a dereliction of duty.

"I'm sorry..." Mo Heng apologized with reddened eyes and his head down.
