"Argentinosaurus belongs to the titanosaur family of sauropods. Its name is quite simple, meaning it was discovered in Argentina. It lived from the Albian stage of the middle Cretaceous period, 100 million years ago, to the Cenomanian stage of the late Cretaceous period, 93 million years ago. It is one of the largest land dinosaurs ever discovered."
Argentinosaurus was one of the largest animals to have ever walked the Earth, standing 12 meters tall and 42 meters long. Of all modern creatures, only Diplodocus fragilis is taller, though some other dinosaurs were as long and some were taller. Despite this, Argentinosaurus was significantly heavier than any other dinosaur, possibly weighing as much as 94 tons, the equivalent of 20 elephants combined. However, even an animal as massive as Argentinosaurus wasn't immune to predators. For example, Mapusaurus, the largest carnivorous dinosaur, reigned supreme among Argentinosaurs.
