Extra Chapter 10: Meeting the Parents (2)

When she returned, Li Tangyan still couldn't figure out what Wen Zhaonian had said to Wu Chang that made that person change their attitude.

She had originally tried to probe Wen Zhaonian's intentions by pestering him, but she ultimately failed and couldn't get any information out of him.

Left with no other choice, Li Tangyan could only turn her attention elsewhere.

The winter night wind always carried a biting chill. Li Tangyan shrank her neck, and as she hid her hands in his coat pockets, she unconsciously leaned closer to him.

At the same time, the aroma of barbecue wafted slowly from the nearby food stalls on the night breeze.

With just a slight inhale, you can smell that alluring fragrance.

Li Tangyan glanced over there, then pulled out a hand and touched her stomach, suddenly feeling a bit hungry.

As she was thinking this, she had already grabbed Wen Zhaonian.

When he turned around again, he pointed to the location of the food stall.

A smile played on her lips, her eyes sparkling: "I'm hungry..."

"You ate two bowls of rice tonight." Wen Zhaonian lowered his eyes, a hint of mockery in them.

Upon hearing this, Li Tangyan pouted and immediately offered an excuse: "Oh dear, it's cold, so digestion is faster."

After saying that, she grabbed Wen Zhaonian's arm tightly with both hands and prepared to pull him away: "Besides, I'm only thinking of you. I didn't see you eat much tonight. Haven't you heard that men who don't take care of themselves age easily?"

Wen Zhaonian raised an eyebrow as he listened to her last words, but instead of being swayed by her actions, he pulled Li Tangyan back with his own hands.

When she bumped into Wen Zhaonian's arms, the familiar scent instantly replaced the aroma of barbecue in her nostrils.

Soon, through her down jacket, Li Tangyan felt a light pinch on her waist, a clear warning.

At the same time, Wen Zhaonian's deliberately low voice seemed to be right next to his ear, easily stirring a slight tremor in his heart.

"Never heard of it."

"What? How are you going to make up for it for me?"

"..."

Upon hearing this, Li Tangyan seemed to realize something, her face flushed, and she stopped answering the question.

The moment she broke free from his embrace, she had already avoided Wen Zhaonian's intrigued gaze.

She then grabbed his hand and pulled him forward, saying playfully, "Let's go!"

This time, Wen Zhaonian watched as the low bun tied behind her head was blown by the night wind, and a few strands of hair fell down. He smiled slightly and let her lead him forward.

Outside the food stall, several plates of delicious-looking grilled skewers were already laid out on the small table in front of them.

Li Tangyan took a skewer of chicken cartilage, which was coated with a secret sauce and sprinkled with cumin powder.

Then, with a wave of his hand, he handed the string of meat and bone skewers to Wen Zhaonian.

Her eyes were full of anticipation: "Do you want some? It tastes pretty good."

Wen Zhaonian glanced at the smile on Li Tangyan's face, paused in his movement of opening a bottle of water, and then took the things from her hands.

Then, under Li Tangyan's gaze, she obediently took two bites.

When Li Tangyan came over again with a smile and asked how it tasted, she nodded and smiled, saying, "It's really quite good."

"I knew it." Hearing this, Li Tangyan looked away and sat up straight again, looking at the plate and preparing to find another skewer for herself.

After the food on the table had been almost eaten, Li Tangyan remembered something else.

She folded the tissue in her hand into a small square, and when she looked up again, her gaze swept across Wen Zhaonian's face.

Her smile deepened: "Let's visit Grandma tomorrow on our way; she's been talking about you a lot lately."

"She's almost as big as my own granddaughter."

"Isn't this what I expected?" Wen Zhaonian reached out and gently adjusted the scarf around her neck, making a joke in his voice.

"You have no shame." Li Tangyan laughed and scolded, but still obediently sat and let him continue.

After a while, when the two left the food stall, the light from the nightlights stretched their shadows longer and longer until they overlapped.

Wen Zhaonian raised his hand and ruffled her hair, while their conversation gradually faded into the distance as they walked away...

"Then don't sleep in tomorrow."

"...Am I that kind of person?"

I think so.

"Wen Zhaonian—"
