Chapter 35 I was too embarrassed to ask you to let go.

The obvious movement caught Wen Zhaonian's eye, and he was first taken aback, then his eyes narrowed into a very narrow crease.

He put the bowl back, then rested his chin on his hand, lifted his eyelids, and his gaze landed precisely on her: "Chestnut Porridge."

"Um?"

Although she was still a little unaccustomed to the change in address, Li Tangyan still raised her eyes and placed her hand on the rim of the bowl, feeling the warmth coming from it.

Her eyes held a hint of curiosity, and her gaze was clear. When she looked at Wen Zhaonian, all she could see was his image.

However, before she could say anything more, she saw something in Wen Zhaonian's eyes that she couldn't understand.

Her clear voice sounded particularly distinct in the quiet environment: "Some things can't be hidden from people."

"!"

Wen Zhaonian's words were like a needle suddenly falling to the ground in a quiet room, abrupt yet clear.

The warmth that touched her palm seemed to dissipate almost instantly, and Li Tangyan's expression froze, unable to discern the meaning behind his words.

However, before she could think about it further, Wen Zhaonian had already gotten up.

Before they could pass each other, Li Tangyan acted faster than she thought and grabbed his hem: "Where are you going?"

The words had barely left his lips when, with a soft snap, the room was plunged into darkness, except for the faint light filtering in from the window.

In the dim light, Wen Zhaonian couldn't see her expression clearly, but he felt her hand gripping the hem of her clothes tighten the moment the light went out.

His lowered gaze flickered slightly, and the next second, a warm hand covered the back of her hand.

His voice was low and deep, yet it gave people a strange sense of security in the darkness: "It must have tripped the power. I'll go take a look."

Having said that, he turned to leave.

However, before he could take two steps, he felt another hand cover his already resting hand.

Li Tangyan stood up and grabbed his forearm with both hands through her sleeves.

His voice was low, and as he leaned closer, a faint scent of lime wafted into my nostrils: "I want to be with you."

In the dark, all the senses become much more sensitive.

Following the light from the flashlight in her hand, Li Tangyan tugged at Wen Zhaonian, who was standing in front of the power switch but hadn't moved yet.

A look of doubt flashed across her face, but the words that were already on her mind came out the next second: "You wouldn't happen to be unable to fix it but are too embarrassed to say so, would you?"

"It's alright, let meβ€”"

Before she could finish speaking, looking in the dim light, I saw a faint smile curving up at the corner of his lips.

When Li Tangyan looked over here, she felt the hand she was holding being lifted up.

As the lights snapped back on with a snap, a soft chuckle was heard from the person:

"I was too embarrassed."

"But I was too embarrassed to ask you to let go."
