Chapter 32 Should we try being together?

When the moon came out, the square was already full of people.

Beside her, a girl, also a tourist, leaned against her boyfriend, her hands clasped in front of her chest, her eyes full of anticipation.

—Have you heard? There will be fireworks later, they're going to be amazing.

—You look good too.

The man patted her head, and his irrelevant answer made the girl blush.

She playfully punched her boyfriend, then complained in a coquettish tone, before burying her head tightly in his chest.

Standing to the side, Li Tangyan secretly glanced at Wen Zhaonian.

The night was hazy, and the warm yellow light illuminated the tiny dust particles in the air.

He raised his eyes, his gaze falling on the clock tower at the very front.

With a calm expression, her Adam's apple bobbed slowly as she tilted her head back, tracing a sensual arc in the distance.

Without her noticing, Li Tangyan had already taken out her phone.

He lowered his body and secretly took another picture of Wen Zhaonian.

While adding the photos to her favorites, she also switched to another screen to reply to Yao Qing's message in the group asking what she was doing.

Chestnut porridge: [While admiring the moon.]

When Wen Zhaonian's photo was released, there was a brief silence in the group chat.

Soon, the other two sent three ellipses and the same emoji in perfect unison.

Please call Yao Qing, the Little Fairy: [Do you even look at yourself speaking human language?.jpg]

Xu Miaomiao: [Do you even know if you're speaking human language?.jpg]

"What are you laughing at?"

Wen Zhaonian's voice came from beside her ear.

Li Tangyan's smile froze for a moment, and then she hid her phone behind her back like a thief caught doing something wrong.

Her face flushed, and her gaze flickered slightly: "N-nothing...it's nothing."

Wen Zhaonian glanced at the red dot on the fair earlobe, a hint of amusement in his dark eyes.

He lifted his eyelids, as if to lean over and look behind her.

As the shadow fell, Li Tangyan felt her phone vibrate a few more times.

She slightly opened her eyes and looked at Wen Zhaonian. The light shone down on him, making him appear even taller and broader.

Her phone wasn't password protected, and the screen was still in her favorites folder.

It also contains some screenshots of chats between me and my sisters that we couldn't talk about back then.

What would happen if Wen Zhaonian saw this?

Thinking this, a feeling of shame welled up inside her, forcing her to lift her foot and retreat again.

However, before she could do anything, she felt a tightness on her shoulder.

The next second, Li Tangyan was already being led to the other side by Wen Zhaonian.

After she came to a stop, she looked back and saw the steps behind where she had been standing.

The pressure on her shoulder hadn't eased, and before she could even say thank you, she heard Wen Zhaonian's voice slowly coming from above her head.

“Li Tangyan”.

"Um?"

Li Tangyan raised her head, and the first thing she saw was that clear jawline.

In a daze, I saw that the person had already lowered his head, and his obsidian-black eyes seemed to be mixed with starlight under the streetlight.

"Actually, my hearing is pretty good."

"?"

Didn't you notice?

"You forgot to turn off the shutter sound again."

The clear, crisp voice, tinged with a hint of laughter, quickly dissipated in the night breeze.

With her clothes fluttering in the wind, and meeting the man's teasing gaze, Li Tangyan suddenly felt a surge of heat from head to toe.

It's more embarrassing to say something that goes without saying than to be directly called out.

The hand that had been on her shoulder had been withdrawn without her noticing.

Even through the clothes, Li Tangyan could almost feel the sensation of those slender joints covering her.

Her long, dark eyelashes trembled, and when she turned on the screen, the photo she had just secretly taken popped up.

At the same time, Wen Zhaonian's last words were still echoing in his mind.

As Li Tangyan's gaze fell upon the scene, she noticed details that she hadn't seen at first glance.

In the photo, the light shining on him makes his skin appear even whiter.

With her high eyebrows and straight nose, her smooth facial features were all familiar to her, etched deep in her heart.

The only difference was that when the shutter was pressed, her lips, which had been pursed, curved into a very slight smile.

Wen Zhaonian actually knows everything.

She was so engrossed that the surrounding noise easily obscured certain details that were actually easy to spot.

The chimes of the hour were deep and resonant, ending with the cheers of the countdown around us.

A series of whooshing sounds rang out in the dark night sky, and soon, dazzling fireworks accompanied the full moon in the sky, creating the most beautiful scene.

It softened the look on everyone's face.

Amidst the cheers, Wen Zhaonian's voice sounded clear and pleasant: "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, and... Happy Birthday."

She smiled, and when she met Wen Zhaonian's gaze, her eyes were bright, as if they held the glittering stars.

Li Tangyan nodded emphatically, her smile deepening in her eyes.

Just as I was about to say something, another round of fireworks rose into the night sky.

Under the light, she watched as Wen Zhaonian's pale lips moved again.

As the fireworks were lit, the moment Wen Zhaonian spoke, Li Tangyan felt as if everything around her had frozen in time.

Holding the phone in a fist and pressing it against my chest, I felt the increased vibrations. A night breeze blew by, gradually bringing back the surrounding noise.

As her thoughts gradually returned, gazing into those dark eyes, she heard her own voice, still slightly hoarse, escape her throat: "What did you say?"

Under the cover of night, the girl's knuckles, which were gripping her phone, were already showing streaks of white.

A few strands of her shoulder-length hair were blown about, revealing her slender neck, where the fine veins beneath her skin made her neck appear even whiter.

Wen Zhaonian bent down, his slightly cool knuckles brushing against her face, and tucked a few stray strands of hair behind her ear.

The metallic voice became deeper and clearer as the man approached:

I said...

"Want to give it a try?"

"..."

On the way back, the streetlights cast very long shadows of Wen Zhaonian and Li Tangyan.

The two did not exchange a single word until they reached the bottom of the residential building.

The atmosphere seemed to freeze, carrying a slightly awkward feeling.

The old streetlights nearby flickered and made a hissing sound, startling the butterflies that had been resting on the trumpet creeper. They quickly fluttered their wings and flew away.

Li Tangyan pinched her earlobe, pointed upstairs, her smile still a little stiff: "Then, shall I go up first?"

After she finished speaking, she turned around and was about to leave when she felt someone grab her collar from behind.

Wen Zhaonian raised the lantern in his hand, which had already gone out.

Under my gaze, I could see a faint blush on the tips of her ears: "You don't want the things anymore?"

ah?

Li Tangyan was stunned for a moment before she realized what was happening and turned around.

Just as I was about to reach out to take it, I saw him raise his hand in an instant.

The next second, the free hand landed precisely on Li Tangyan's head.
