Chapter 37 Are you kidding me?

She turned around and saw two figures standing behind her.

The lights were enchanting, and everything became somewhat blurry in view.

In a daze, Wen Zhaonian had already walked up to her.

He looked at Li Tangyan and saw that her fair face was already flushed with an unnatural blush.

Her eyes, misty with tears, still held a hint of uncertainty and bewilderment.

What are you doing here?

His voice, tinged with a hint of drunkenness, had a lazy quality to it.

Once she recognized the person in front of her, she staggered over to him.

She raised her hand and pinched Wen Zhaonian's cheeks, her actions showing a level of unbridled bravado rarely seen in her daily life.

Wen Zhaonian gently supported Li Tangyan's waist, his dark eyes flashing with unspeakable thoughts.

"I'll take you home."

After saying that, he changed his posture and half-embraced Li Tangyan, about to walk out.

However, before he could take two steps, he felt the open collar of his trench coat being tugged lightly by the person in his arms.

Li Tangyan, nestled against his chest, lifted her head slightly, then pointed in a certain direction: "My friend is still over there..."

As he spoke, his voice grew even lower as he became more guilty.

Her slender fingertips gripped his clothes tightly. When Qing Lingling's gaze followed her downcast eyes and landed on him, her eyes darted around, clearly indicating that she wanted to stay a little longer.

A breeze blew in from somewhere nearby, making Zheng Chuan feel a chill.

As soon as Li Tangyan finished speaking, he saw that her narrow, phoenix-shaped eyes had already narrowed slightly in response to Wen Zhaonian's movement.

Instantly, he seemed to sense a hint of danger.

Before they could even react, Zheng Chuanyi stepped forward and interrupted their conversation: "It's alright, Xiao Lizi and A Zhao can go back first."

"Wait at your friend's place, I promise to take him back safely."

"..."

As soon as he finished speaking, two pairs of eyes immediately fell on him.

They have different meanings, but both carry warnings with varying degrees of underlying sentiment.

His gaze was intense, as if to say:

Why are you meddling?!

*

When Wen Zhaonian carried Li Tangyan out of the bar, the night sky was already tinged with a deeper shade of azure.

The sky was dotted with stars, and the moonlight was bright, but as the dark clouds swept by, they quickly disappeared into the clouds.

The fallen leaves landed on the ground and were swirled in the wind.

Everything seemed peaceful and serene, a stark contrast to the restless person on his back.

Perhaps the alcohol was taking effect, Li Tangyan began to move around uncomfortably on his back.

The half-fallen scarf brushed against the side of my neck, bringing a slight, ticklish sensation.

Wen Zhaonian lifted her legs and bounced her up a bit before he felt the itch on the side of her neck subside.

However, the moment things calmed down, Li Tangyan's slightly cool hand reached out from behind him again and poked his cheek intermittently.

The dark clouds dispersed, and the moonlight shone down again, stretching the shadows that had suddenly frozen on the ground into long streaks.

Wen Zhaonian stopped and, as he turned his head, his lips inevitably brushed against the cool fingertips.

Looking at the person who seemed to have been caught red-handed and was now nervously withdrawing their hand, he spoke in a slightly deep voice, carrying a hint of warning: "Behave yourself."

Upon hearing this, the person on his back curled up his hands and quieted down.

When he took another step, he felt a weight on his shoulder, and before he knew it, Li Tangyan's chin was resting on his shoulder.

With a slight smirk, her breath still carrying a hint of alcohol, she said, "You actually yelled at me!"

"..."

Seeing that Wen Zhaonian didn't speak, the already half-drunk man bumped his head against Wen Zhaonian's shoulder again.

With a soft hum, she said, "You're still ignoring me!"

The force of the bump on the shoulder was actually not heavy at all; rather than a pointless complaint, it felt more like being lightly tapped twice with a small massage hammer.

Li Tangyan was spouting nonsense, clearly already quite dizzy.

Hearing the person whisper in his ear, Wen Zhaonian's eyelashes fluttered.

Immediately afterwards, a very shallow crease appeared at the corner of her eye.

Suddenly, a rose, still glistening with water droplets, appeared in my field of vision.

Wen Zhaonian looked up and saw a girl who had somehow gotten close to him, holding a bunch of flowers.

She smiled, a hint of teasing in her eyes as her gaze fell on the person on Wen Zhaonian's back: "Sir, want to buy a flower to please your girlfriend?"

Wen Zhaonian turned around and looked at the person who was leaning on his shoulder, with his eyelids half-closed, about to fall asleep thanks to the alcohol.

A soft, deep laugh involuntarily escaped his throat.

Then he turned around and nodded under the girl's knowing gaze.

*

After the flower-selling girl left, Li Tangyan was finally put down by Wen Zhaonian.

She rubbed her eyes, the thin layer of mist still clinging to them.

She looked at the person in front of her, one hand resting on Wen Zhaonian's body, her head still feeling a little heavy: "What's wrong?"

As she spoke, Li Tangyan could already smell the faint floral fragrance in the air.

She tilted her head, her eyes flashing.

In an instant, her gaze fell on the flowers Wen Zhaonian was holding, and she vaguely remembered the little incident that had just occurred.

She reached out and took the flowers from Wen Zhaonian's hand, feeling the coolness spreading from the water droplets on the petals as her fingertips touched them.

Her slightly parted lips curved into a faint smile as she spoke, her voice carrying a barely perceptible hint of joy: "For me?"

"Um."

The grainy sound took on an ethereal quality under the cover of night.

Li Tangyan looked at him, a faint smile playing on her lips. As she felt a warmth in her heart, she asked, knowing the answer already, "Why are you giving this to me?"
