Chapter 10
Perhaps because they hadn't washed yet, the remaining monster's blood was stuck to the other three people.
After lingering for a long time, the fragrance acted as a catalyst, igniting the increasingly intense desire for food in Kurozuka Kirishi's body.
If she continues like this, she might start to bite people out of hunger...
A subtle gurgling sound was heard, and Hoshina Soshiro, who happened to be walking over, heard it. "It's time for breakfast now. Come on, I'll take you to the cafeteria."
"I won't go. I'll send them both back first." After picking up Itami Koji from the ground, Sengoku Sakuya gave him a princess hug without saying a word.
After being rejected, Hoshina Soshiro turned his gaze to Kurozuka Kirishi.
Kurozuka Kirishi actually wanted to refuse. After all, normal food had no taste to her and was so bland that it was almost a torture.
"If you want to rest, go ahead." The other person said, but then stuffed something into her hand.
She lowered her head and glanced at her palm. The simple packaging was the kind of whole wheat bread without additives that she was more likely to eat.
As if she had been completely seen through, this realization made her heart flutter. After hesitating for a moment, she raised her head and asked, "What's for breakfast in the cafeteria?"
"We have both traditional and Western styles. Would you like to go and have a look?"
In the cafeteria, Kurozuka Kirishi stood at the window, scanning the menu for dishes. After a brief pause, she ordered rice and miso soup.
Holding the meal tray, she found an empty seat nearby and sat down. She subconsciously looked around.
There weren't many people in the cafeteria at this time, only a few, sitting far away in the center.
"Pour the soup into the rice?" A figure came and sat down opposite her, watching her movements.
Kurozuka Kirishi saw that the other person had ordered the same meal as himself, and pursed his lips: "I like to eat it this way."
Hoshina Soshiro didn't reply immediately. He picked up a spoon, scooped up some soup, and poured it over the rice like she did. Then he took a bite and said, "The taste is very different."
Heizhong Wushi lowered his eyes, looking at the rice in his bowl that was fully soaked by the soup and became soft, and then glanced at the rice grains on his plate that were mostly still dry. The spoon unconsciously poked the "rice soup" in the bowl.
"I think..." She paused, the shyness of confessing herself made her throat tight.
She was about to give up, but she saw the man opposite her patiently pouring all the remaining soup on her, spoonful after spoonful.
After doing all this, Hoshina Soshiro put down the spoon and looked at her leisurely, with a knowing smile on his lips: "What do you want to say?"
Why is his every move so... It's almost like he can read minds. Kurozuka Kirishi frowned slightly, an indescribable emotion rolling in her heart.
She let out a long sigh, and when she spoke again her tone was calm and composed:
"You have good taste."
After dinner, the way back to the dormitory was unusually quiet, with only a few people from the logistics department passing by occasionally.
There weren't many active combat members left. After all, the monster attack in the early morning had cost everyone a lot of energy.
Kurozuka Kirishi quietly opened the door of the dormitory. Without waking up her roommates, she quickly washed up in the dim light and went to bed.
The moment her body touched the bed, a surge of fatigue completely overwhelmed her like a tide, and almost at the same time as it left a dent on the pillow, her consciousness sank into endless darkness.
The moment the consciousness sank into darkness, bizarre fragments of light and darkness surged in.
She stood in a huge and frightening cafeteria, the long table was empty, and the pale light above her head stretched her shadow into a long and distorted shape, like a dormant monster.
There was a burning hollow in her stomach, a hunger that seemed to be sucking her soul away, and then she saw a bowl of steaming rice on the table not far away.
My feet moved closer uncontrollably, and just as my fingertips were about to touch the edge of the bowl, the pure white rice instantly rotted and collapsed, turning into a pile of sticky ash that emitted a foul smell.
She looked down at the palm of her hand. A piece of bread had appeared there. Then, in the blink of an eye, there was only a cold, hard stone lying quietly in the middle of the chapter.
"Are you hungry?" A voice came from behind, like a whisper close to the ear, with a cold metallic texture.
"If you're hungry, why don't you eat--!!!"
She turned her head suddenly, and in the deep shadows, there was only a pair of white fangs hanging in the air, and the breath of a predator burst out instantly.
Unreasonable fear gripped her heart. She turned around and tried to escape, but her feet stepped on something slippery.
Looking down, she saw a dark red sticky liquid with a strong smell of rust oozing out from the cracks in the floor tiles. It was like a living thing, instantly wrapping around her ankles.
The cold and slippery touch made her scalp explode. She wanted to scream, but her throat seemed to be strangled and she couldn't make a sound.
The ground beneath my feet collapsed without warning!
The feeling of weightlessness hits me violently!
She fell into a boundless, sticky bloody abyss.
The air around her was no longer air, but a heavy, cold, suffocating dark red liquid. Countless shattered monster remains floated around her—broken claws, peeling scales, empty eye sockets...
They seemed like vengeful spirits trapped forever in this sea of blood, roaring silently and stretching out their twisted limbs to grab her and drag her to a deeper, darker place.
At the same time, in this desperate descent, a twisted "appetite" from deep within the bone marrow surged crazily.
The desire to devour the endless sea of blood and the broken debris around her made her stomach cramp, and a beast-like, painful whimper came from deep in her throat.
Her mind was screaming in resistance, but her body seemed to have its own will, greedily absorbing the smell in the liquid that made her nauseous but also madly obsessed.
She felt her skin getting hot and her blood boiling, as if something inside her body was waking up, cheering, celebrating her return to this hotbed of sin.
"Come... come..." Countless overlapping, alluring whispers seemed to echo directly in her mind from the sea of blood: "Merge into one... this is your destiny... hunger... will eventually subside..."
Above the abyss, the fangs emerged once again, hovering above the sea of blood, silently looking down at her sinking...
"Ugh!" Heizhong Wushi suddenly sat up from the bed, his heart beating wildly in his chest, hitting his ribs, making a dull sound like a drum.
Cold sweat soaked through her thin pajamas, sticking to her back. She subconsciously covered her forehead with all her strength. Her thick bangs were wet with sweat and stuck tightly to her skin, bringing a suffocating feeling of oppression.
Outside the window, the sun was so bright it seemed unreal. The dormitory was completely silent, with only the sound of my roommate's even breathing. It was as if the nightmare just now, filled with corruption, hunger, and cold gazes, was just a brief illusion when my consciousness was sinking.
But under her palm, the scar on her forehead seemed to still be faintly hot. Her stomach felt empty, and a deeper, colder emptiness surged up, no longer able to be suppressed.
