Chapter 11
Perhaps because he was too hungry, during the training that afternoon, Kurozuka Kirishi not only did not achieve the same outstanding results as before,
Instead, because his body was forced into a low energy state, he fainted and was sent to the infirmary.
When she woke up from her coma, it was already late at night.
The excruciating hunger pain from deep within her body, as if billions of cells were drying up and breaking apart at the same time, made her vision go black.
Almost instinctively, she reached out and grabbed the cold phone on the cabinet beside her. The dim light from the screen illuminated her pale face.
With a barely perceptible tremor in her fingertips, she clicked on the map and began to search for the locations of the remains of large monsters that had been conquered in the last 24 hours and had not yet been cleared - after all, this was the only chance she could think of to quickly replenish her "fuel".
The moon was dark and the wind was strong. The city's light pollution formed a turbid neon haze in the low sky. A dark figure blended into the night and silently shuttled and leaped between the shadows of the tall buildings at an inhuman speed.
The cold night wind brushed across her skin, but it did not bring a trace of warmth. Instead, it made the cold, dead feeling on her neck even more distinct.
She subconsciously touched it, and the pulse there, which should have been warmed up by the intense exercise, was now like a frozen dead wood.
She had to thank the monster residues that were accidentally "digested" back then, a cold thought flashed through her mind, otherwise... she was afraid she wouldn't even have the strength to crawl out of the infirmary.
Finally arrived at the destination,
The huge remains of the monster were like collapsed mountains, emitting a nauseatingly strong, but to her, sweet and fishy smell of blood that was alluring and captivating.
However, just as Heizhong Wushi breathed a sigh of relief, his heart suddenly sank.
Seeing the lights flickering inside the wreckage, she instantly wedged herself deeper into a shadowy angle formed by twisted steel bars and concrete blocks, holding her breath, even her heartbeat seemed to be forcibly suppressed.
At this moment, a dazzling flashlight beam swept across the area not far from where she was hiding without warning.
A figure was struggling to crawl out from a pile of sticky internal organs deep within the monster's wreckage. His protective suit was covered with dark stains. Under the strong light, the other person's face was blurred, and only swaying blocks of color could be seen.
"Kafka! Have you found the things--!" A companion's shout came from a distance, and another flashlight flashed over.
"Found it! I'll be right out!" The man named Hibino Kafka responded loudly, his voice a little tired.
He adjusted his posture clumsily, carefully looking for a foothold on the slippery tissue mass, trying to step out of this "swamp of flesh and blood".
The accident happened at this moment.
Hibino Kafka stumbled upon something soft and slippery, and fell forward.
The high-intensity flashlight in his hand flew out, drawing a dazzling parabola, and rolled down with a "clang". As luck would have it, the cold, white and incandescent beam of light hit the narrow shadow corner where Heizhong Wushi was hiding.
The light pierced like a sharp sword. Heizhong Wushi's pupils suddenly shrank. Almost at the moment when the light reached his body, his body burst out with instinct.
Like a frightened gecko, she grabbed the rough concrete wall with her five fingers and used her toes to push.
With a flexibility and speed beyond human limits, the whole person silently launched upwards, instantly climbing to the edge of a narrow platform filled with pipes higher up, where light could not directly penetrate.
Her heart was beating wildly in her chest, almost bursting out. She clung to the cold metal pipe and looked down.
Below, the dazed Hibino Kafka swears as he gets up, rubbing his sore elbow and limping towards the fallen flashlight. He bends down to pick it up and subconsciously shakes it, the beam accidentally sweeping upwards.
"Eh... what is that?" A cold white beam of light solidified below the edge of the platform where Heizhong Wushi had just hidden.
Hibino Kafka narrowed his eyes, trying to make sense: "What the hell! Who cleaned this?!!"
His voice was filled with disbelief: "How could such a large pile be dumped in such a remote corner?! How careless!"
He obviously mistook the shadow for a monster organization that a careless colleague had overlooked. Sighing, Hibino Kafka resigned himself to bringing in an extension ladder and placing it under the platform.
He climbed up grunting and laboriously picked up the huge shadow in the corner, which was mistaken by the light as "escaped tissue". It was actually a large piece of strange flesh and blood. The flesh and blood mass was sticky, heavy, and emitted a strong smell.
"Well, let's put it here first and deal with it tomorrow morning." Hibino Kafka muttered to himself, dragging this "trouble" to the edge of the area he was previously responsible for and piling it with other debris to be dealt with.
He clapped his hands, joined the other team members, and complained about this unexpected discovery. The sound and light gradually faded away.
The scene finally fell into complete darkness and silence, with only the giant wreckage standing silently.
Now is the time!
After confirming that the last footsteps had disappeared, Kurozuka Kirishi's form changed strangely again. Her body looked like a melted black wax figure, or like mercury that had come to life.
Suddenly collapsing, stretching, and becoming thinner, the whole person, like a flowing shadow, silently wrapped and penetrated into the remains of the huge monster, fusing himself with this rich "dish".
The swallowing begins.
The cold tissue with the sweet smell of decay instantly enveloped her. No chewing, no swallowing, the point of contact was the starting point of absorption.
An indescribable sense of satisfaction that reached deep into the soul swept over like a tsunami, instantly drowning the bone-eating pain of hunger, as if the dry earth finally welcomed the rain.
Every cell on the verge of exhaustion was sucking and howling greedily. The violent and primitive power derived from the monster's flesh and blood was like boiling magma, rushing into her body along her "integrated" limbs.
Strength... Her consciousness was somewhat distracted by the pure physical pleasure. The whisper of the beast rumbled deep in her mind, tempting her to completely release the restraints and sweep away this tissue and all the surrounding devourable objects.
The whispers were filled with violence, greed, and an endless thirst for flesh and blood.
Blood continued to emerge, like a bird falling from a high altitude and dying. The dazzling blood splattered everywhere, accompanied by the sound of bones breaking, but at the same time, this illusion also brought her back to her sanity.
Heizhong Wushi suddenly interrupted the absorption of energy, forcibly withdrawing his consciousness from the dizzying satisfaction. The "shadow" wrapped around the piece of flesh squirmed violently, and quickly peeled off and shrank from the tissue like the receding tide.
In the blind spot of the surveillance camera, she re-condensed into a human form, but she stumbled a little and held on to the cold wall beside her to steady herself.
She gasped for breath, the cold air filling her lungs, trying to calm her frantic heartbeat.
The hasty eating and forced interruptions made the absorbed energy seem restless and turbulent, surging through her body and making her feel as if the flesh beneath her skin was trembling restlessly.
What a monster... she thought, her breathing slowly slowing down.
