Chapter 6
The glaring sunlight penetrated the filter layer of the gas mask, mixed with the unique smell of rust and blood on the simulated battlefield.
Kurozuka Kirishi stood on a high place, overlooking the dilapidated city training ground below.
Twisted steel bars, charred building debris, wandering monsters, everything looked like a scene reproduced from a cheap, hot-blooded comic, but this scene was a little different for her.
The overbearing fragrance coming from below almost made her unable to control her actions, so when she finally heard the order to advance from the headset, she did not hesitate, and even jumped down eagerly.
Her steps were as light as a wandering soul, and after a few jumps, she landed on the nearest roof.
The gun weighed heavily on my palm, the cold touch of the metal strange and distant.
In theory, she should have had a harder time than the others...
Bang--!
The bullet penetrated the target accurately, shattering the monster's core and causing its body to collapse.
Kurozuka Kirishi lowered her head and looked at her slightly trembling fingers. This body was more troublesome than she had thought.
It took almost all her strength for her to restrain her urge to pounce on the monster's corpse and feast on it.
Fortunately, what she was best at was suppressing herself. After standing there quietly for a while, her hands gradually stopped shaking and her breathing became steady as usual.
Next one, found it.
The sunlight was refracted into a dark red by the filthy blood mist. Hei Zhong Wu Shi, who had just eliminated the main beast, stood on the broken viaduct.
The sticky feeling under her feet was not rain, but the rotten blood that had not yet coagulated and spurted out from the monster's wound.
There was a noise of electricity coming from the headset, but no instructions, like the cold breathing of a machine.
In front, three lizard-like beasts were being surrounded and attacked by others.
Kurozuka Kirishi took a look and jumped off the overpass headfirst. The moment her body lost weight, she raised her gun, but suddenly found that the sight was slightly distorted.
It wasn't her hands that were shaking, it was the faint spider-web-like veins on the surface of the gun barrel that were pulsating with her breathing.
Without time to think, she quickly pulled the trigger.
The first shot penetrated the eyeball of the monster in front, and the second shot penetrated the brain through the torn eye socket.
The monster wailed and rolled over, crushing the other two of its companions. Seeing this, the others quickly finished off the monsters and killed all three.
After flipping over in the air, Heizhong Wushi landed steadily. The soles of her boots stepped on the ground, crushing the follicle-like blood sacs on the ground.
In the command room,
"Is it over?" Kokonogi Yoshimi once again checked the number of monsters remaining on the field.
She was not mistaken, the number was indeed zero.
"The test has only been underway for less than five minutes, and she's already eliminated over 90% of the targets by herself?"
The other people in the room stopped their work at the same time. The air seemed to freeze, leaving only the hum of the equipment. Someone quietly swallowed.
"This is beyond the level of being described as 'awesome'..." someone said softly, his eyes sweeping over the few monsters that were dealt with by other testers - their pitiful number was like leftovers being given away.
A drop of sweat slid down the corner of Hoshina Soshiro's forehead.
Although he was indeed optimistic about this newcomer at first, the strength she displayed was of a shocking level.
"Ahem," he cleared his throat and pressed the comm button. "Due to the current special circumstances, this round of testing has been terminated early. Those who fail to meet the standards will be retested tomorrow."
"yes!"

Next to the rusty iron gate of the welfare home, a cluster of mushrooms emerged from the cracks in the mailbox.
Kurozuka Aoi sat on the small bench given by the dean, staring at the street without blinking.
The sun baked her shadow hot, but she did not move, like a young bird guarding its nest.
She suddenly stood up when a man dressed as a postman passed by.
"Brother who delivered the letter!"
The postman wiped the sweat from his forehead. The high temperature had caused a dark stain on the back of his uniform. He squatted down and said in a hoarse but gentle voice, "What's wrong, little friend?"
Kurozuka Aoi's eyes were like two transparent glass beads in the sunlight, shining beautifully. "May I ask if there's any email from Kurozuka?"
Three minutes later, Heizhong Wushi arrived at the welfare home, but before he even entered the gate, he was pounced on by a little creature that was waiting there.
"You passed! Sister, you passed!"
Kurozuka Aoi held a file bag tightly in her hand, her fingertips turning white from the force.
Her voice was full of joy, but trembled slightly at the end. She was about to hand it to her excitedly, "I knew that my sister is the best~"
Kurozuka Kirishi stood there, letting the girl fall into his arms.
The fluffy brown hair brushed against her palm, and the touch was as warm as cotton wool that had been exposed to the sun.
After Vision had a puppy in his hand, she unconsciously touched the other's head, her movements a little stiff.
"Yeah." Her response was brief and vague, as if coming from far away.
But her fingers stayed in Kurozuka Aoi's hair and did not withdraw immediately.
Kurozuka Aoi raised her face, her eyes sparkling: "Can I take my sister to celebrate? I'll use my pocket money..."
When she said the last three words, her voice dropped and her toes rubbed the ground unconsciously.
Because it was pocket money, but in fact, it was all given to her by Kurozuka Kirishi, and it couldn't be said to be her own...
Kurozuka Kirishi looked at her and blinked slowly.
"……good."
She reached out and patted the girl's head gently. "Use your pocket money."
The sound of Kurozuka Aoi counting coins was like a string of tiny bells. She carefully crossed the sidewalk, holding onto her sister's sleeve. The sunlight blended their shadows into a blurry gray.
The glass door of the dessert shop reflected their distorted outlines. Kurozuka Kirishi stared at the slightly melted strawberry parfait in the display cabinet. The arc of the collapsed cream reminded her of the monster's body that she had pierced through.
"Welcome—" The waiter's greeting was stuck in his throat. The doorbell rang again, and a tall figure stepped in with the heat from outside.
Kurozuka Kirishi took a quick glance and looked away. With her face blindness, it was really difficult for her to recognize people. Although they seemed familiar... she had no desire to try to recognize them.
After all, even though this world has a rich combination of colors, she can't just use this to distinguish them. It would be very embarrassing if she recognized the wrong person.
"Ignoring your future superior doesn't seem like a good sign, does it?"
The familiar voice and the abrupt color block came to her at the same time. Kurozuka Kirishi lowered his eyes and took Kurozuka Aoi behind him.
At the same time, the sound of clothes rubbing came from behind her, and a head was trying to pop out from behind her.
Hoshina Soshiro looked curiously at the girl who seemed to have something to say to him, took a few steps forward and bent down.
"You are, you are the vice-captain of the 3rd Division, Soshiro Hoshina!?" Kurozuka Aoi nervously grabbed the corner of Kurozuka Kirishi's clothes. Her usually cheerful personality had become unusually shy now.
"Yes." There was a smile in Hoshina Soshiro's voice. "Is there anything you want to tell me?"
"Um... my sister didn't mean to ignore you, Vice Captain Hoshina! She's just face-blind and has trouble recognizing people!"
Hoshina Soshiro looked at Kurozuka Kirishi with surprise. Well, it was really hard to tell what he looked like.
Kurozuka Kirishi met his face, but because he couldn't find a place to focus, his vision gradually became blurred, and his body was surrounded by a gloomy fog. "I'm sorry."
