Act 5: First meeting with elders
"He's my fiancé."
She dropped a thunderous sound in a deep voice, and looked at everyone present with a playful look. Even Bing Jie frowned and held his breath. She smoothed her hand behind Bing Jie's back and asked him what was wrong with concern.
Bing Jie shook his head, but the look in his eyes when he looked at her was full of: I knew you would be like this... Unfortunately, they were not the only two now, so he naturally couldn't tell her what he was thinking. In a panic, he was frightened by Xu's father's sudden scolding.
"How can you be so careless about such an important matter in life? You have to consider whether his background is worthy of you!"
Qi Jixin looked at him coldly, then looked at his parents, who were usually calm but also a little restless, and said, "Don't worry, that's if there are no accidents."
Xu Ran was completely unable to sit still now. When he heard her calling Bing Jie her boyfriend, he relaxed for a while, thinking that she really didn't dare to tell her parents about her fiancé's words, but his father added fuel to the fire and made her completely angry again. He really couldn't remain silent any longer.
"That's right. They haven't known each other for long. Who can predict what will happen in the future? Dad, she understands everything you're saying." After some polite remarks, Xu Ran didn't hide his true intentions. He pressed on, "What do you mean by accident?"
Bing Jie was also confused now. Like everyone else, he looked at Qi Jixin. She raised her eyes and inadvertently saw her teacher looking at her with a smile on his face. Then she looked at the serious and expectant expressions of several elders around her. Qi Jixin thought to herself, it turns out that only her teacher can understand her.
She said slowly, "Of course he has to agree to my proposal."
Uncle Xu was so angry that he covered his chest. His wife hurried to help him calm down. On the other side, the Qi family's parents were obviously more experienced. It was Qi's mother who spoke first with a smile: "Our daughter has always been independent. Then Mom wishes you success soon."
Qi Jixin smiled and nodded, observing the turbulent situation before her. Xu's parents and Xu Ran were all quietly sizing up her father. She thought, even if her father didn't stand with her, it didn't matter to her.
Thinking of this, she became more confident, and having her lover by her side also gave her great courage. Bing Jie seemed to have noticed something and put his arm around her shoulders.
"I am sincerely happy to see you pursuing your own happiness. Of course, I also hope that you will not let my daughter down." He said the second half of the sentence while looking at Bing Jie. His tone was as gentle as the spring breeze, which made Qi Jixin a little stunned.
Later, Qi Jixin took Bing Jie away, and the teacher followed them out. The three of them gathered outside to chat, and the teacher said something that hit the nail on the head, which touched upon Qi Jixin's thoughts.
The teacher smiled and said to Bing Jie, "Do you know what Mr. Qi is shocked about?" Bing Jie shook his head and looked at Qi Jixin who was in deep thought with concern, as if he didn't hear what his mentor was saying at all.
"A ruthless man who has been in the business world for decades can speak to you so gently. Anyone who knows Qi's father will be shocked by that scene."
Bing Jie suddenly realized what was going on. No wonder everyone was so shocked at that time. Qi Jixin also nodded. It turned out that she had heard the conversation between the two.
"It's good this way. All the haze in the future has been swept away." She smiled from the bottom of her heart, which was rare. The teacher did not stay there as a light bulb. Just seeing Xu Ran coming over, the teacher intercepted Xu Ran and left the two of them alone.
"You just came out from inside, and your expression is very serious. What's going on?" Bing Jie finally spoke out his true feelings. Her expression was almost as if she was facing a great enemy, which made him still feel nervous.
Qi Jixin took his hand and stroked his joints. Seeing that Bing Jie hadn't reacted yet, she said bluntly, "I'm thinking about how to propose to you."
Bing Jie was frightened and immediately raised his hand to cover her mouth, telling her in a horrified tone to stop talking nonsense, "We just confirmed our relationship, and you're thinking about proposing to me? That's too good to be true." He looked around and relaxed a little when he saw that no one was paying special attention to them.
"Other people only propose when they are deeply in love, but we are just at the beginning."
Qi Jixin was not angry. She just leaned forward and kissed his palm. When he hurriedly withdrew his hand, she said seriously, "I really like you."
Falling into such a passionate gaze, it would be difficult for anyone to escape, let alone Bing Jie, who was in love with her. He no longer cared where he was or who was standing around him, and bent down to kiss her on the lips.
The two then walked upstairs hand in hand and disappeared from the camera. The camera then turned to the small banquet hall. Qi's father stood at the door and waved to his secretary, whispering to him, "Tell anyone who comes here not to leak a single word of what we see and hear here."
When the secretary nodded and was about to leave, he added one more instruction: "Keep it from Ji Xin's teacher, do you know?" After watching him leave, Qi's father turned around and went back.
The camera follows his back and cuts back to the banquet hall. Father Xu looks at him anxiously, "Brother, tell me about what happened today..."
Father Qi raised his hand to stop him from saying anything more, and said meaningfully: "You are too impatient. Ji Xin is now in power. Will she listen to your teachings?"
"Brother, what about the marriage between our two families..." Mother Xu asked, grasping the key point, but fell silent when she saw Mother Qi's disapproving expression.
Mother Qi swept away her gentle demeanor and looked at the two of them coldly: "You should not make the efforts in front of Ji Xin, do you understand?"
"Click!" The shooting ends here.
Qi Jixin and Bing Jie, who were standing at the corner upstairs, should also go to watch the replay. Bing Jie still helped her downstairs like a gentleman, but he was unusually silent. Qi Jixin noticed something was wrong, but didn't think anything of it.
"Our crew is quite good at finding actors. I've never seen the actor who plays the teacher before, but with that elegant and self-assured demeanor, he really looks like a very professional teacher."
She sighed as she walked, not realizing that her words had frightened Bing Jie so much that he could only make excuses and rarely chatted with her afterwards...
After work in the evening, Qi Jixin was browsing her phone in the car and soon became carsick. She leaned her head against the car window. The roads in busy downtown areas are always wide and smooth. She was not afraid of being hit head-on because the road conditions were smooth.
But it happened that a car accident occurred in the flat and open city center that day. When the news reached Bing Jie's office, it was not known on the Internet that Qi Jixin was also involved.
Meng Jingxuan visited him late at night just to meet him and reminisce about the past, but as soon as he pushed the door open to enter the office, Bing Jie was about to go to the hospital. Bing Jie lost his mind in desperation, but Meng Jingxuan couldn't do anything with him. He stopped Bing Jie and asked his special assistant to go out and wait for news. No action could be taken without his notification.
Then he pushed Bing Jie hard and locked the door himself.
"I know the situation is urgent, but think carefully. We can't hide the fact that she was in a car accident. Who knows, reporters might have already gone to the hospital to stake out the situation. What would your presence there mean?"
Seeing Bing Jie about to rush out around him again, Meng Jingxuan anxiously yelled at him, saying that he would stop him. Bing Jie took two deep breaths and forced himself to calm down, but he paced back and forth in the room, betraying his inner anxiety.
"No, I can't go."
He said so, but Meng Jingxuan's scalp tingled when he saw his eyes moving rapidly. Needless to say, this guy must be thinking of various other ways.
Bing Jie stopped where he was and calmly analyzed the situation. He knew the car accident couldn't be suppressed, but Xuan Jiazhuo wouldn't let her whereabouts be exposed. So, once her condition stabilized, the first thing to do was transfer her to another hospital. Of all the hospitals in the city, there was only one that offered both professional and private care.
Coincidentally, that hospital is a private hospital controlled by him.
"First notify Qiu Hongbo and ask him to send someone to the current hospital to inquire about the situation. I will go to my private hospital for treatment now."
Meng Jingxuan frowned and asked in confusion, "Diagnosis of what?"
Bing Jie turned around, picked up his phone, and was about to walk out when he said, "Food allergy."
"You? Now?"
"immediately."
Knowing that he couldn't stop him, Meng Jingxuan could only sigh and follow him. In order not to expose himself, Meng Jingxuan, an amateur, put on a mask and a hat... He drove the car all the way. Bing Jie bought a box of kiwis in the supermarket and just held it in his hand.
When they arrived at the hospital, he got out of the car and threw away the box of kiwis, which made Meng Jingxuan very confused, but Bing Jie walked straight to the hospital.
"You are allergic now. Even if you don't eat this thing, will you still have difficulty breathing and get a rash?" Meng Jingxuan walked side by side with him, observing his condition at all times. After all, allergies are not a trivial matter.
He nodded and entered the hospital lobby, but he didn't rush Meng Jingxuan to register. Instead, he took him to sit in the waiting area to wait for the allergy to attack. After a while, he coughed. Meng Jingxuan was about to ask him if it was time when he heard his cell phone ring.
Bing Jie picked up his phone and saw the message sent by Qiu Hongbo. He then said to him in a hoarse voice, "They will be here soon." After that, he stared at the empty and dark door.
After a while, two low-key nanny cars stopped at the front door. A group of people got out of the front car to greet the back car. When the back car opened its door, several people came out, led by Xuan Jiazhuo. She directed several assistants to carry Qi Jixin to the wheelchair, and the group hurried through the hall and ran straight to the elevator.
Others naturally couldn't tell that it was Qi Jixin. She was wearing a hat and a mask, and her whole body was shrouded in a loose black coat. She sat in a wheelchair, looking somewhat weak, which made her look particularly fragile.
Bing Jie knew that they were heading towards the special elevator that led directly to the VIP ward. After the hospital lobby returned to silence, Qiu Hongbo also rushed here, holding the hospitalization procedures that had been completed long ago.
Meng Jingxuan realized only then that he was not waiting for the allergic reaction, but to see her here… When he looked at the legendary lover in front of him with admiration, Bing Jie stood up and looked down at him.
"I should be leaving, right?" Meng Jingxuan was worried that he'd been exposed, thinking that Bing Jie's look was suggesting that he leave. Unexpectedly, Bing Jie shook his head. Qiu Hongbo beside him explained to him, "Mr. Meng, we're going to a regular single room. You don't need to leave now."
Meng Jingxuan was extremely confused. Hadn't he gotten himself allergic so he could come here and take the opportunity to care for her? Why did he end up in a regular ward?
It wasn't until the three of them arrived at the ward and Qiu Hongbo went out to call the doctor that Bing Jie explained to him, "As soon as I appeared next to her, her agent became extremely wary. That's why they wanted me to be discovered, not me discovering them."
Hearing his extremely hoarse voice, Meng Jingxuan quickly poured him a glass of water and gave him a thumbs-up in admiration. "It's a good thing she's smart enough, otherwise I would really think you tricked her."
A smile appeared on Bing Jie's face, and he agreed deeply with this statement. She was indeed very smart.
