Chapter 10 Framed

"Reporting to Master and Madam, there is a woman outside who is making a fuss about wanting to see the young master, and she has already attracted quite a crowd."

"A woman?" Madam Chu was taken aback. "Which family in the city is she from?"

Even Chu Chuyan, who had remained unmoved, became a little curious. Did Zu An know any other women?

Zuan was completely bewildered. Could this guy have some kind of confidante? But why can't I remember any of them?

Only Xue'er, standing behind her, smiled slightly: "I didn't expect you to survive such a serious injury last night. Luckily, I had made preparations beforehand."

When the lady asked, the servant replied meekly, "It's from the Grand View Garden."

These words caused an uproar. Everyone in the city knew what the Grand View Garden was.

"What kind of talk is this, making such a racket outside? Let her in!" Madam Chu snorted coldly, her tone already showing a hint of barely suppressed anger.

Soon, a heavily made-up woman swayed in, and upon seeing Zu An from afar, she rushed over, wailing and crying, "You heartless bastard! You didn't pay me back after you were done with me. I only agreed because you said you would take me into your family as soon as you came back, and that I could become sisters with the young lady of the Chu family. How could you abandon me after taking advantage of me?"

Xue'er's fingers twirled around a small braid, her eyes wide with joy, like crescent moons. "This time, let's see if you don't die!"

Aside from the person involved, who else would know whether something like this actually happened? So even if you deny it, no one will believe you unless you publicly expose your incompetence. But once exposed, it will be an even bigger scandal, and no matter what, you'll definitely be unable to continue being their son-in-law.

Young master, your wish will soon be fulfilled.

The ancestral hall fell into an eerie silence once again. The second and third branches of the family stopped speaking, because there was no need for them to say anything more at this point.

Chu Zhongtian, who had been secretly speaking up for Zu'an, was now furious. What kind of status did his daughter have? Now a lowly prostitute dared to claim she wanted to be sisters with Chu Yan. It was a disgrace!

And the one who started all of this is Zaun!

"You wretched child, what else do you have to say?" Madam Chu's eyes were practically spitting fire as she looked at Zu An.

Chu Zhongtian's anger +78!

Qin Wanru's anger level increased by 300!

Zuan couldn't help but wonder how this guy had managed to live for so long. How many people had wanted to kill him since he transmigrated here?

He wondered who had hired this prostitute to deal with him—his second wife, his third wife? Or that Miss Pei?

It seems that being a kept man isn't so easy after all.

He calmly looked at the heavily made-up woman and asked, "What's your name again?"

"Oh, you heartless bastard! Don't try to pretend you don't know me. You always call me Chunhua so affectionately, but now you say you've forgotten?" the courtesan sneered.

Zuan didn't argue, but said with a smile, "Oh my dear Chunhua, I've just been a bit confused these past few days because I've had a lot on my plate. By the way, how much do I owe you for prostitution?"

“What do you mean by ‘payment’? You’re making it sound so awful,” Chunhua said coquettishly, waving her red handkerchief. “You’ve been staying with me for almost half a month, so it must have cost at least 20… uh, no, 30 taels of silver.”

Upon hearing this, everyone present felt contempt. Zu An was actually looking at such cheap prostitutes; was he really so desperate that he would eat anything?

“30 taels?” Zu An nodded. “Not expensive at all. How about this, I’ll give you 300 taels, and the rest can be the betrothal gift.”

Even the people from the second and third wives gasped in shock. Was this guy courting death? They hurriedly looked at Chu Zhongtian and saw that the couple's faces had turned pale.

Miss Pei also watched him with great interest, but for some reason, she felt that this guy was a bit strange.

"Really?" Chunhua asked with a delighted expression.

“Of course it’s true,” Zu An then looked at Chu Chuyan, “Wife, I’m a little short on cash right now, could you lend me 300 taels of silver?”

Everyone in the room looked at him like he was crazy. How could he expect his wife to pay for his prostitution? What was he thinking? Chu Chuyan would probably tear him apart on the spot.

To everyone's surprise, Chu Chuyan nodded and said, "Alright, someone go and fetch 300 taels."

Everyone was completely bewildered, not expecting this to happen. Even Pei Mianman stared at her in astonishment, wondering if this was still the best friend she knew.

Just as Madam Chu was about to erupt in anger, Chu Zhongtian quietly pressed her hand and gestured toward his daughter. Madam Chu frowned and decided to wait and see.

Zu An secretly gave a thumbs up. His wife was indeed incredibly intelligent. The only person in the room who knew he was innocent was probably Chu Chuyan. After all, she had witnessed his impotence firsthand, so she naturally wouldn't believe he would go to a prostitute.

Hmm, why does it feel like I can't stop crying?
