Xiao Yao opened her sleepy eyes and glanced at him: "You don't seem scared?"
Zuan smiled slightly: "We have no grudges against each other, and we even had drinks together just now. Why should I be afraid?"
“I don’t think that’s the reason,” Xiao Yao jumped down from the window and slowly walked towards him, “because we’ve fought before, and you have enough confidence.”
"Your sword strike at the banquet was indeed amazing. I was the one who took advantage of the situation," Zuan said modestly. At that time, the other party had infused his sword intent into the wine, which was mostly water. His Blue Fly had a natural affinity for water elements, so it was much easier for him to catch the attack than for others.
Xiao Yao shook his head: "I'm not talking about the fight at the banquet, but the one during the day."
Zu An's heart skipped a beat: "I don't understand what you're saying."
Xiao Yao looked at him with a half-smile: "You'll know once you try."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a sword flashed out, so fast that even the process of him drawing the sword was not clearly seen.
Zuan instantly retreated ten feet away, dodging his lightning-fast sword strike. Just as he was about to counterattack, the other party had already sheathed his sword: "You dodged it exactly the same way you did during the day."
Just then, several figures rushed over from outside. The first to arrive was Sang Hong: "Aunt, what happened?"
Soon after, others arrived one after another, clearly alerted by the energy fluctuations that had just erupted here.
"It's nothing, I was just practicing my skills." To dispel their suspicions, Zu'an even opened the door and met with them.
Sang Hong glanced around the room discreetly, and only nodded when he saw nothing amiss: "Then be careful. If anything happens, just let me know, and the guards nearby will come immediately."
"Thank you for your concern, Uncle." After seeing them off, Zu'an closed the door again.
At this moment, Xiao Yao came out from behind the bed and asked with some curiosity, "Why didn't you notify them to arrest me together?"
“I can sense that you have no ill intentions, so why would I arrest you?” Zuan pulled up a stool and sat down, gesturing for him to sit as well.
Xiao Yao didn't stand on ceremony and casually sat down without any formality: "You're not very old, but you have a very open-minded attitude."
Zuan remained noncommittal: "You came to see me in the middle of the night, surely not just to chat about everyday things?"
"I'm a little curious, you're so young, how did you recognize me? I've been out of the public eye for so many years, I've almost forgotten my own name," Xiao Yao said with a sigh.
Zuan replied, "Actually, I've been to the academy a few times before, and I have a pretty good relationship with the teachers on the back mountain. I probably know more about them than most people do."
Hearing him mention Shen Xuzi, Hei Baizi, and the others, Xiao Yao's face lit up with a smile: "So many years have passed, and they're still the same. Sigh, but they've all become leaders in their respective fields, while I, their senior brother, have completely wasted my time..."
Sensing his dejection, Zu'an said, "You don't need to be so self-deprecating. Everyone says you have fallen, but I think your swordsmanship is even more powerful than the legends say you were at your peak. It can only be said that everyone has misjudged you. The Sword Immortal is still the same Sword Immortal."
Xiao Yao shook his head self-deprecatingly: "No, many things can't be changed."
Zuan said in a deep voice, "Although I don't know what happened to you, your deeds back then inspired many people. For example, a friend of mine idolizes you..."
He gave a general account of Xiao Jianren's story, but of course, he concealed many details to avoid being suspected by those with ulterior motives that he was the Gold Medal Eleven.
Hearing someone admire him so much, Xiao Yao was somewhat surprised and became absent-minded, clearly recalling his glorious past.
Zu An thought that if he launched a sneak attack at this moment, the opponent would be seriously injured if not killed. His emotions were fluctuating so much, and he wondered what he had gone through to be like this.
"If I can guide a young man to be positive and motivated, then my life won't have been in vain. I should have a drink." Xiao Yao laughed, took a few sips from his wine gourd, and then asked Zu An if he wanted some.
Zuan shook his head. This guy really is a drunkard; he can always find some excuse to drink.
After setting down the wine pot, Xiao Yao suddenly stopped smiling, his sleepy eyes turning sharp: "Why did you sneak into the Pei family's inner courtyard during the day?"
“Manman and I are friends,” Zuan replied, then countered, “Then why were you there?”
“I’m friends with her mother.” A hint of tenderness flashed in Xiao Yao’s eyes when she spoke of her mother.
Zuan looked at him strangely. "Is this friend you're talking about serious or not?"
"You brat, what are you thinking about?" Seemingly sensing his thoughts, Xiao Yao glared at him irritably.
Zuan tentatively asked, "You're not Manman's biological father, are you?"
If the other party happens to be your father-in-law, then things could get really interesting.
Xiao Yao's face turned bright red: "Don't talk nonsense. Manman's mother is pure and innocent. Don't you dare to tarnish her reputation."
Seeing his reaction, Zu'an roughly guessed what had happened; Xiao Yao's status in his heart had plummeted.
I originally thought the other party and Da Manman's mother were lovers, but now it seems that not only were they not lovers, but he was just a sycophant of the goddess.
Xiao Yao gradually calmed down and looked at his neck: "When I fought you during the day, I saw you wearing a flame-shaped pendant. Where did you get it?"
Zu An's heart skipped a beat. No wonder the other party's murderous aura had weakened considerably. He took out the uniquely shaped pendant and a gentle smile appeared on his face: "Da Manman gave it to me."
Xiao Yao was momentarily lost in thought, and his expression as he looked at Zu An became extremely complicated: "She actually gave you this pendant."
