Pei Mianman: "..."
Sensing the murderous glare in the other person's eyes, Zu An finally realized what was going on, and awkwardly laughed to change the subject: "What are you two doing, master and servant? She's wearing your clothes, and you're changing into night clothes?"
Pei Mianman replied, "Wasn't the city in chaos during the day? I heard that someone led the county soldiers to besiege your residence, and I was worried that something might have happened to you. But my father sealed off the entire Pei residence and forbade anyone to leave. I had no choice but to sneak out and have Hongzao impersonate me here in case of emergency. Who knew that I would run into you as soon as I went out?"
Zuan felt a warmth in his heart and held her small hand tightly: "Manman, you are so good to me."
"Are you alright?" Even though the other person was standing in front of her unharmed, Pei Mianman was still worried and checked his body thoroughly, afraid that he had been injured.
“It’s nothing…” Zuan recounted what had happened.
"Do you suspect that Jian Taiding is behind this?" Pei Mianman nestled in his arms, her peach blossom eyes blinking like the brightest star in the night sky.
“He is indeed the most suspicious right now, but I always feel like something is off,” Zuan frowned. “By the way, does Zhao Zhi come to your house every day?”
Pei Mianman blushed slightly: "Don't overthink it, I haven't seen him."
“That’s the problem.” Zuan slapped his thigh. “Although Zhao Zhi is a bit of a scoundrel, he is still the heir of the Prince of Qi. He shouldn’t be so humble as to act like a lapdog. It’s strange that he still comes to your house every day.”
Pei Mianman's expression changed: "You suspect my father?"
“Not necessarily,” Zuan pondered for a moment, then asked, “Who has he been seeing each time he comes to your house these days?”
“Of course it’s my dad and that woman,” Pei Mianman snorted, secretly unwilling to call the other woman “mother.” “By the way, sometimes that woman’s dad comes to see his grandson.”
"Yu Xuansu?"
"Um."
Zu An frowned. Yu Xuansu was the Sima of the Governor's Office. Besides the Governor, the Governor's Office was headed by the Chief Secretary and the Sima. The Chief Secretary was Jian Taiding's original position, so now Yu Xuansu was the second most important person in the Governor's Office.
Could it really be related to the Yu family?
The image of that flawless beauty involuntarily surfaced in my mind. I thought to myself, if this woman were the mastermind behind it all, her acting skills would probably surpass those of all the Oscar-winning actresses combined.
"Hey, what are you doing with your hands? They're so cold..." Pei Mianman suddenly noticed something, looked down, and was immediately embarrassed and annoyed.
"I couldn't help it." Zu An smiled, but his movements didn't stop.
Pei Mianman bit her lip and pressed down on his hand: "Not today, I'm on my period. How about I have Hongzao come up and keep you company?"
“I’m not a beast,” Zu’an said, naturally not falling for this veiled, potentially fatal question. “It’s alright, there are ways to play when menstruation comes.”
Pei Mianman looked completely bewildered: "???"
Soon she felt a chill on her body and realized that her clothes had slipped down.
...
"I'll carry it myself."
...
"Ugh... and you still say you're not a beast."
...
Meanwhile, in the other part of the residence, Pei You entered the prison cell. As the supervisor there, the guards outside naturally did not stop him.
Zuo Su was sitting cross-legged on the bed, resting. Hearing the movement, he opened his eyes and said, "Are you going to interrogate me again? I've already said everything I need to say. There's no point in asking any more questions."
Pei You didn't answer, but stared at him silently with a strange light in his eyes.
Zuo Su's expression suddenly changed drastically: "It's you!"
