"What happened?" The mermaid queen's mind went blank, and she couldn't react at all.
Zuan grabbed a wedding dress from the side and draped it over her shoulders: "Put it on quickly, something seems to have happened to the Chang clan."
The situation outside made him uneasy, but he dared not leave the mermaid queen alone here, fearing that something might happen to her.
Seeing his solemn expression, the Mermaid Queen dared not be careless. All her romantic thoughts vanished, and she quickly dressed.
Zuan then led her out of the bridal chamber. The mermaid queen sniffed the air and her expression changed slightly: "There's a bloody smell!"
Mermaids revere nature and are most sensitive to this scent.
Zuan remained silent, taking her hand as they looked outside.
Outside the courtyard, several young girls were lying haphazardly; they were the maids who had escorted the Mermaid Queen to her bridal chamber.
They were all pretty and charming, but now they all lay there limp and lifeless.
"They're dead?" The Mermaid Queen was utterly shocked. Just a short while ago, these little girls were smiling and chatting as they helped her dress up, even jokingly asking her about Zaun. Now they were all cold corpses. Tears welled up in her eyes instantly.
Zu An nodded solemnly and continued to check outside. Most of the Chang clan members were gathered in the square. He had finally found a chance to return to the bridal chamber. When he left, the atmosphere there was still lively, with young men and women still singing and dancing.
However, when he arrived at the square, the once bustling square had become quiet, with only the crackling and popping of the dry firewood burning in the campfire remaining.
All the members of the Chang clan slumped over on chairs, the ground, and tables.
The air reeked of alcohol; if it weren't for what had just happened, one would only assume they were drunk.
But seeing this tranquil scene at this moment, I suddenly felt an unusual sense of unease.
Zuan examined the bodies of many people and found that they had no pulse at all.
He quickly found the old clan chief, who was lying comfortably with a group of elderly women, embracing them on both sides.
However, there was no smile on his face at this moment, but only a twisted look of terror, as if he had seen something extremely terrifying.
The Mermaid Queen crouched down to check their pulses, and her expression immediately changed: "How did they all die? What happened?"
"I don't know either." Zu An's expression shifted between light and dark. Just now, when he spread his divine sense, it seemed that there was no one left alive in the entire Chang clan.
Although he was so engrossed in the bridal chamber that he was somewhat distracted, with his current cultivation level, it was simply impossible for someone to kill the entire Chang clan without alerting him.
He wouldn't have time to react unless all these people died at the same time in an instant.
But what kind of existence could possibly achieve this?
Suddenly his expression changed: "Oh no!"
He immediately began searching among the Chang clan members, his expression growing increasingly anxious as he searched further and further.
"Husband, what's wrong?" The mermaid queen hurriedly followed.
"Ling'er is missing." Zu An's heart sank to the bottom. The Chang clan members outside were all dead, so wouldn't Ling'er be in grave danger as well?
For a moment, he didn't even dare to think any further.
The Mermaid Queen's expression changed as well. If something happened to the Holy Maiden of the Demon Clan, she would truly become a sinner.
However, she hadn't lost her composure and quickly said, "The fact that we haven't found the Saintess's whereabouts for so long is, in a sense, good news. Let's continue our search together."
Zuan understood what she meant; at least Mikado Baiqing's body hadn't been found yet.
He dared not be negligent in the slightest, and hurriedly searched everywhere, constantly expanding the range of his divine sense.
Suddenly his expression changed, and he hurriedly led the mermaid woman to fly eastward.
Soon they arrived at the entrance of the town and saw Mikado Baiharu slowly entering from outside.
Zuan was both surprised and delighted, and immediately pulled her into his arms: "Where did you go just now?"
Completely unprepared for the tight embrace, Mikado Hyoharu instinctively tried to push him away, but to no avail. She could only coldly reply, "Do I need to explain to you where I'm going?"
"Of course not, it's so good to see you're alright." Zuan felt a sense of relief, as if he had just recovered something he had lost. He had been really worried that the worst might have happened.
"Holy Maiden, the main problem is that something terrible just happened here. The rest of the Chang clan are all dead." The Mermaid Queen explained from the side. Seeing the two of them hugging tightly, she wasn't angry at all. Instead, she was relieved that the other was safe.
"Oh?" Mikado Baiharu's reaction was unusually calm.
The Mermaid Queen frowned slightly. She was always very perceptive and immediately noticed that the other party's reaction was too cold.
Although she had not truly become a member of the Chang family, she had felt their warmth and care over the days they spent together, and she had developed feelings for them. Seeing their miserable state naturally made her feel terrible.
The demon saintess was also warmly received by them, so this sudden change seems rather cold-hearted.
"Why did you come back from outside?" Zu'an asked curiously.
"You two are having your wedding night here, are you going to add to the festivities here?" Mikado Baiqing replied coldly.
The Mermaid Queen was instantly embarrassed, and Zuan was also speechless, thinking that his little sister seemed to have changed a bit.
Just as the three remained silent, several powerful auras suddenly rose in the distance, and several tall figures could be vaguely seen walking swiftly on the flat ground.
A deafeningly loud voice rang out: "How about we have a wrestling match?"
