Left with no other choice, he could only extend his sword to defend. However, swords are not suitable for direct confrontation with heavy weapons. The dark weapon in his opponent's hand was clearly extraordinary, so he used a clever technique, employing the "picking" technique from the Thirteen Basic Sword Techniques, to deflect the weapon to the side.
Even so, he still felt a tremendous force coming from his hand. It seemed that his opponent's strength was not much different from his own, and with the advantage of the weight of his weapon, he suffered a small loss.
He rolled away to dodge the zombie's next few attacks, and looking at the large holes dug in the ground, he finally saw what weapon the zombie was holding.
It's a hoe!
His gaze swept quickly. Most of the zombies he encountered along the way carried weapons such as wooden sticks and carrying poles. Some carried hoes, while others used sickles and woodcutting knives. Only a very few had weapons such as knives, swords, and spears.
Why do they look so much like refugees?
Zuan suddenly thought of something. At first, he thought that the clothes on these people were tattered because they had been underground for a long time and had been corroded. But now he thought that it was very likely that their clothes were originally tattered.
The scene before me is very similar to the refugee surges I've seen in period dramas.
Whether they were refugees or civilians, they were all zombies now. Zaun dared not be distracted any longer and focused all his attention on using Sunflower Illusion to dodge attacks from all directions.
He originally intended to run out of the valley, as the golden-haired rats had proven that it was a way out, and logically speaking, these zombies should only be active in the valley.
Unfortunately, when the golden-haired monster rat escaped, it attracted too many zombies to chase it to the valley entrance. There were too many of them gathered there, and he tried several times but was stopped each time, which only made things more dangerous for him.
Left with no other choice, they fled deeper into the canyon.
He was well aware that this place was already dangerous, and the depths of the canyon might be even more so. However, the attacks coming from all directions were similar in strength to those wielding hoes, not to mention the swordsmen who were clearly a cut above him.
Normally, if it were a one-on-one fight, he wouldn't be afraid at all with his Sunflower Illusion, but now that there are so many enemies, he feels like he's in the middle of a battlefield, and he has to exhaust all his energy just to protect himself, let alone attack.
In fact, it was thanks to his uncanny movement technique that he could nimbly dodge through the crowd; otherwise, even if he were a student from the academy with higher strength, he would probably have been overwhelmed by the zombie horde long ago.
What are you looking at!
What are you looking at!
Why aren't you looking?!
The sound of Zuan cursing echoed through the valley. Several times he tried to distract the zombies with "What are you looking at?", but they just stared at him like he was an idiot and were completely unmoved.
It seems that the "What are you looking at?" skill only works on intelligent creatures that can talk. These zombies are all undead, so it obviously has no effect on them.
After running for an unknown amount of time, Zuan was finally cornered. The Sunflower Illusion technique had its limits, and with the zombies swarming around the valley, where could he possibly hide with his agility?
With his back against the mountain wall, looking at the zombie horde that was closing in in a semi-circle, Zuan nervously swallowed, wondering if he was going to die here today.
Damn it, the seal hasn't been broken yet, he's not a complete man even if he dies.
At this moment, he finally understood the obsession of those eunuchs in the White House: no matter how dangerous it was, they wanted to retrieve the treasures and bury them with them before they died.
What the hell am I thinking?!
Zaun felt a chill run down his spine. Just then, the zombies rushed over impatiently. He summoned a strong wind, and a strange bird phantom appeared in front of him, flying to a tree on the cliff. Then, he teleported there, tightly hugging the tree trunk, his whole body hanging in mid-air.
The zombies were wondering why he had suddenly disappeared when suddenly one of them pointed in his direction and made a piercing sound.
All the zombies raised their heads, and many of those near the cliff began to climb, their movements as agile as monkeys.
Zaun was shocked. Aren't these zombies supposed to be slow-moving? How come they are so good at climbing?
He looked up and around. Now that his Yuan power had increased, he could summon two strong winds. But all he could see were zombies. Even if he moved to another place, the outcome would be the same. He might as well save the last chance to summon a strong wind to save his life.
In that very short time, a zombie had already climbed halfway up the mountain and was crawling towards him along the tree trunks.
Zuan snorted, and with a few quick thrusts and twists of his longsword, he knocked the zombies down from mid-air.
Seeing this, he was greatly encouraged. Now he had the advantage of terrain, and the tree was thick enough that its roots had not been damaged by the golden-haired monster rat. In addition, the tree was located on a cliff, so the zombie could not destroy it for a while.
If only a few can come up at a time like before, their zombie horde tactics won't work. Wouldn't I be able to hold out forever?
Zaun couldn't help but sigh. It was a pity this wasn't a game; killing these monsters yielded neither gold nor equipment.
The zombies tried to stop the attack several times, but Zaun used the terrain to his advantage and knocked them down one by one. The zombie horde no longer climbed the rock wall as before.
Zu An breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that perhaps the zombie horde had given up. If he held out until dawn, he could reunite with Ji Xiaoxi. He had risked his life to save this girl, and even if she didn't repay him with her body, her favorability towards him would at least be maxed out.
