Chapter 178 Dark Land

The room looked very ordinary, no different from a typical study, but Zu An could clearly sense that several places inside were filled with murderous intent, as if a slight mistake would result in an immediate death.

He remembered that Zhang Zitong had mentioned there were traps here. With his and Yan Xuehen's cultivation levels, ordinary traps wouldn't hurt them, but if they were triggered and caused other forces in the palace to arrive, then things would be troublesome.

So he said to Zhang Zitong, "It's your turn to step up!"

Zhang Zitong immediately perked up. She had just witnessed the various displays of affection brought by the Eleventh Lord, and her eyes were almost dazzled by them.

As a direct descendant of the Embroidered Robe Envoy, how could I be outdone by other women?

It was finally my turn to appear.

She stood at the front and then carefully observed the layout of the house.

After a while, she said, "You all stand here and don't move."

As soon as she finished speaking, she lightly touched the ground with her toes and leaped several meters to another location.

Zuan stared at the spot she had just stepped over, where a faint killing intent was emanating, clearly indicating that there was a trap waiting to be triggered.

Then Zhang Zitong walked around the room, sometimes taking a few steps forward, sometimes retreating more than ten feet away. Sometimes she would leap directly through the air, and sometimes she would bend over and turn to the side, as if there were some invisible mechanism in the air.

She was moving forward in an orderly manner when suddenly her expression changed. She bent over backward as if her waist had broken, and her upper body leaned back to support her weight. She also flipped backward several times, making her long legs stand out even more throughout the process.

Yan Xuehen thought to himself that this woman was really flexible; if he hadn't just noticed that there was something see-through in front of her...

The bright silk thread cut across, and he would probably think she was deliberately seducing Zu'an.

Because throughout the whole process, she seemed to be dancing, showing off her long legs in various ways.

Having narrowly escaped this ordeal, Zhang Zitong breathed a sigh of relief, patted her chest, and continued forward, clearly more cautious this time.

Finally, we arrived at a wall behind the desk, where there was a statue of an eagle.

She took a deep breath, and then, as if her bones had disappeared, she assumed a contorted posture that no normal person could possibly achieve. With one hand on the desk beside her, she formed a split with her other legs, one foot touching the ground and the other hooked straight up to the wall.

Yan Xuehen's breath hitched. She could vaguely sense the dense, transparent threads around the statue, which explained why she was in such a twisted and bizarre posture.

only……

She glanced at Zu An beside her; his eyes were practically bulging out of their sockets.

Finally, Zhang Zitong straightened her legs completely, but unfortunately, her toes were still nearly an inch away from the statue, and she couldn't reach it no matter how many times she tried.

She gritted her teeth, pressed her body down with all her might, and let out a painful groan. Finally, her toes reached the falcon statue.

Then, trembling, she pressed the eagle's wing with her toes and spun it to the side.

A rumbling sound came, and a crack appeared in the previously seamless floorboards, revealing a hidden door.

Zhang Zitong breathed a sigh of relief and then struggled to pull her leg back. Her whole body was trembling, clearly indicating that the movement had taken a heavy toll on her.

She waved to Zuan and the others: "Come on over, the trap has been deactivated."

Zuan and his group passed by.

They went, and sure enough, they didn't encounter any danger.

Seeing her covered in sweat, Zu An sighed, "Luckily you were here today, otherwise it would have been really difficult to open this mechanism."

Zhang Zitong has exceptionally long legs and is extremely flexible; no one else could probably do that move.

Hearing his praise, Zhang Zitong's eyes lit up with a hint of excitement. She had finally proven her worth; there were no useless women around the Eleventh Lord.

Zu An couldn't help but glance at Yan Xuehen beside him. Actually, her body was also very flexible, and he had witnessed her flexibility before. Perhaps she could do it too...

Sensing his gaze, Yan Xuehen clearly realized something and glared at him irritably.

A group of people slowly descended the steps leading down from the cave entrance. Along the way, Zu An asked Zhang Zitong, "Why do you know so much about the mechanisms here?"

Zhang Zitong replied, "Seventh Master once taught me that there are only a few schools of thought in the world of mechanisms. As long as you recognize the essence, the others are just slight variations on that basis."

Zu An nodded, thinking of those feng shui secrets from his previous life. Although they were described as mysterious and profound, the people who built the imperial mausoleums back then followed those rules to choose the sites. Therefore, people in later generations could often find ancient tombs by using the feng shui secrets that have been passed down.

As they descended, the surrounding light grew dimmer, and Zhang Zitong became visibly nervous: "Eleventh Master, we'll soon reach that dark place. Not only will there be no light, but cultivators' spiritual energy perception will also be greatly weakened. I've heard that even grandmasters can get trapped there. Have you thought of a solution?"

Having come this far, she didn't want to fail at all.

basket for carrying soil.

"It's alright." Zuan's tone was calm, and he continued walking forward in an orderly manner.

Sensing his confidence, Zhang Zitong felt reassured after recalling everything that had happened before.

The group walked in for a short while, and then it became completely dark.

Although Zhang Zitong knew it was useless, she still subconsciously took out a fire starter to prepare to start a fire.

The fire flare was clearly burning, but half of the light it emitted seemed to be absorbed by some unknown thing. Only a red dot at the front of the fire flare could be seen, and nothing could be seen around it.

"Put out the fire, or we'll become sitting ducks," Zuan reminded him.
