"Why are we back again?" Vesso was panicked. His stomach was bloated, and he hadn't even finished vomiting up the water he had just drunk. He was back in the place where the nightmare had begun.
Seeing the table full of fruits and pastries, and remembering how happy he had just eaten, his stomach began to churn.
Qiu Honglei and Jing Teng also recalled what had just happened, and unconsciously moved away from the food on the table.
Zuan was secretly relieved that he had just had Jing Teng use tree vines to connect them all together as a precaution, so that they would not be separated again.
"What exactly happened?" Qiu Honglei looked at Zu An with a worried expression.
Jing Teng's expression also changed slightly, as if he was pondering something.
“If I’m not mistaken, we didn’t find the key to solving this problem just now, which is why we came back again,” Zaun replied.
“If this matter can’t be resolved, won’t we be stuck in this cycle forever?” Vesso exclaimed.
"If all else fails, we'll just wait until dawn and the sun comes out; those ghosts will eventually retreat." Qiu Honglei astutely grasped the key point.
“It’s no use.” Jing Teng shook his head slightly. “The ghosts here are more powerful than I imagined. We’ve probably already fallen under her spell. Time flows differently here than outside. We might not even be able to hold on until the sun comes up.”
She paused, then added, "And I doubt that even if the sun comes out, it might not shine here."
Everyone looked up following her gaze and then noticed that they could not see the sky.
Everywhere was decorated with lanterns and colorful streamers, and there was also some eerie fog obscuring the view, which no one had noticed before.
"You mean we might be underground or in a cave?" Zuan asked.
Jing Teng nodded and hummed in agreement.
"Why don't we let Sakura come out and talk to the ghosts here?" Qiu Honglei suggested. Since they're all ghosts, they might have something in common.
Jing Teng shook his head slightly: "The world of ghosts is more about the survival of the fittest. Xiao Ying's cultivation is too low. If she comes out, she will only be devoured by those fierce ghosts and have her energy absorbed."
Seeing that this wouldn't work, Qiu Honglei suddenly said, "In that case, let's go directly to the bride and beat her into submission."
After all, she came from a demonic sect, and after the initial panic, she gradually returned to her usual way of doing things.
Zuan smiled slightly: "That's exactly what I was thinking too."
Vesso pointed to the guests standing nearby: "Shouldn't we start with these people?"
Zuan shook his head: "They are all paper figures, it's pointless to kill more of them."
Then, the singing started again on the stage.
The group exchanged glances and quietly left the vicinity of the stage.
The people around them kept their eyes glued to the stage, as if they couldn't see them at all, their expressions extremely strange.
On the way, Zu'an followed the same method as before, using the Primordial Chaos Scripture to clear a path, and quickly blasted a way through.
Jing Teng secretly admired him; although the method was clumsy, it was indeed effective.
However, for some reason, she turned her head away and refused to look at him anymore.
As they approached the bride's room, Zuan said in a deep voice, "There's a problem. When I discovered her just now, I was about to attack her, but I fell under an illusion spell..."
He then gave a brief account of what had just happened.
Weisso immediately said in frustration, "Why can you play the bully while I can only play the victim? It's not fair!"
Qiu Honglei perked up her ears: "You were just with that female ghost?"
“Actually, it’s not a female ghost, it’s…” Zu’an was about to explain when Jing Teng coughed lightly, interrupting him.
“Based on what you just said, it’s very likely that there’s some special formation in her room that caused you to fall into the illusion. Don’t rush in yet, let me pull her out first,” Jing Teng said.
“Okay!” Zuan nodded, and the group began to discuss their joint attack strategy, making sure to catch the enemy off guard.
This female ghost's methods are too bizarre; if she were allowed to use them, she would inevitably make mistakes.
Soon the group arrived at the bride's room again. There was still a half-open door, and a woman wearing a veil and wedding dress was sitting at a table with her back to the door, slowly combing her hair.
When she took her head off to fix it, even though the group had just been reminded, they couldn't help but gasp in shock.
The female ghost moved, put her head back on, and seemed to be listening intently to something.
Jing Teng immediately took action, sending dozens of vines shooting out and instantly binding the female ghost.
With a sudden pull, the female ghost screamed, and countless strands of hair scattered, wrapping around the pillars throughout the room, thus creating a stalemate with Jing Teng.
During the fight, her hair came undone, and her veil slipped off, finally revealing the female ghost's appearance. Her face was ashen, her eyes were almost entirely white with only a tiny black dot the size of a mung bean, and her lips were jet black and shiny. Because she was struggling, her face was contorted and terrifying, her teeth were exposed and looked exceptionally sharp, and her saliva dripped onto the ground, as black as ink.
Vesso couldn't help but swallow hard. How come she's not the female ghost I imagined?
"A Chinese Ghost Story" has caused a lot of harm, and I don't know which bastard came up with this outrageous plot.
At this point, he completely gave up the idea of having a secret rendezvous with the female ghost.
At this moment, the female ghost suddenly reached out and groped on the dressing table. Her hand turned bluish, like a withered branch, and her long fingernails were pitch black, scratching her body and leaving several bloody holes.
She quickly found a pair of scissors on the table and cut directly at the vines binding her.
Jing Teng's expression changed slightly. The scissors looked very peculiar, and he felt a sense of threat even before he touched them.
