Chapter 31 I Came at the Wrong Time

Yan Xuehen hesitated after leaving the house, thinking that if Zu An and Yu Yanluo were together, her arrival in the middle of the night might cause misunderstandings.

She moved back a few steps, but her mind was too chaotic, and she had no intention of meditating anymore.

Finally, gritting his teeth, he continued walking out.

It would be awkward to go directly to Zu'an, so I guess I can chat with Yu Yanluo instead.

She was pleased with her own cleverness, so she asked a group of palace maids where Yu Yanluo was.

The palace maids recognized her. After all, as a Grandmaster, she represented the Little Demon Queen's side in the battle in the heavens, and she looked so aloof and refined. It was hard not to be tempted.

So he replied very respectfully, "Queen Medusa had some matters to attend to with the Serpent Clan and had already left the palace."

"She's left the palace?" Yan Xuehen was taken aback, but she quickly realized that the Little Demon Queen must have agreed to some generous terms with the Snake Clan. She needed to return to the Snake Clan's territory as soon as possible to discuss it with her people and ask the Snake Clan to send someone to the Royal Court to finalize it. After all, the Snake Clan's status would rise significantly in the future, and the current number of personnel in the Royal Court would definitely not be enough.

"What about Zu'an?" she asked casually, then chuckled to herself, realizing that it was pointless to waste her energy on these palace maids.

"The Regent is stationed near the Empress and the young prince's palace to prevent any troublemakers from causing trouble in the palace." Mentioning Zu'an, the palace maids were all excited. It was clear that his powerful deeds had spread throughout the palace. The world respects the strong, let alone such a handsome strongman.

Seeing the starry-eyed look on the young palace maids' faces, Yan Xuehen thought to herself that Zu An really knew how to attract women. Her disciple was probably in for a lot of trouble in the future.

The Regent... this woman really went all out.

As the abbot of Baiyujing, she was naturally well aware of the power wielded by regents throughout the history of the demon race.

Especially when she thought about how she arranged for Zu'an to be near the palace, she couldn't help but frown. Didn't the demon women know how to avoid suspicion?

Of course, although she was somewhat displeased, she didn't think much of it. Too much had happened that night, and it was almost dawn. The little prince would be registered after dawn, and everyone in the palace was extremely busy with their own heavy responsibilities. How could anything else possibly happen?

She thanked the group of palace maids, then lightly touched the ground with her toes and floated away.

The young palace maids all gaped, their mouths agape in envy: "If only I were as capable as Miss Yan, no, even a tenth of her ability would be enough."

"Hmph, you little hussy, you've got really high standards. I'm different. I'd be perfectly content if I had even a tenth of her beauty."

The other palace maids stared at her, saying, "Isn't it your demand that's higher?"

...Yan Xuehen naturally paid no attention to the gossip of the palace maids behind her. She floated away and soon arrived outside the Little Demon Queen's palace.

She preferred quiet and didn't want more people to know that she had gone to find Zu'an in the middle of the night, so she didn't disturb the guards outside the palace. Her figure was like a wisp of smoke as she quickly flew into the palace.

Her divine sense slowly spread out, and soon her gaze fell on a side hall. A gentle smile appeared on her usually cold face, and that was the aura of Zu'an.

She walked over with light steps, but suddenly slowed down because she sensed another person's presence.

Little Demon Queen!

The gentleness in her eyes vanished instantly. What were they doing alone in a room in the middle of the night?

However, she quickly came to terms with it. Zu'an was the Little Demon Queen's most relied-upon ally, so it was only natural for her to come and discuss matters of state with him.

With this thought, she relaxed again, so she stopped and admired the moonlight, deciding not to disturb their business discussion.

She planned to go find Zu'an after the two finished talking, as she didn't want to run into the Little Demon Queen from beginning to end, to avoid trouble.

She prefers quiet and dislikes social interactions.

She stood there for an unknown amount of time when a cold wind blew by, carrying a leaf that landed on Yan Xuehen's head.

Yan Xuehen was somewhat surprised as she picked the leaves off her hair. The demon race was located in the northern border region, and it was winter, yet there were still green leaves here. It had to be said that the demon royal family was truly wealthy and powerful, keeping so many trees that were only found in the Jiangnan region in the palace.

Why are they still talking after all this time?

Out of politeness and pride, she didn't use her divine sense to explore inside at first, but now she couldn't help but be curious.

In fact, if it were anyone else, given Yan Xuehen's personality, cultivated through years of practicing the Supreme Forgetfulness Technique, she probably wouldn't even have considered such a thing. But since it concerned Zu'an, she was itching with anxiety.

After hesitating for a moment, she muttered to herself, "I'll just check inside to see if anything unexpected has happened. Zu'an might have suffered internal injuries from defeating those grandmasters, and they're only now manifesting themselves..."

With this in mind, she couldn't resist any longer and hurriedly probed in with her divine sense.

For a grandmaster, divine sense is exactly the same as eyes; even through a wall, one can see what the divine sense can reach.

"Huh, why is the Little Demon Queen lying on the ground? No, it seems she's kneeling on the ground."

"What's wrong with Azu? He looks like he's in pain with his eyes closed?"

Yan Xuehen was startled and subconsciously took a few steps inside. Suddenly, her expression turned strange; Zu An seemed to be more happy than pained. What were these two doing? Why were they so close?

From her perspective, the little demon queen was facing away from her, blocked by her figure, and could not be seen clearly.

So she stretched her divine sense further inward and decided to take a look from a different angle. What she saw shocked her.
