Zhao Xiaodie suddenly stood up, looked towards the door, and upon seeing him, her previously dim eyes immediately lit up with a beautiful gleam: "Brother Zu!"
Upon seeing his arrival, Zhao Xiaodie seemed to regain some of her vitality.
“I don’t think I’m that familiar with the princess.” Zu An’s face twitched.
Zhao Xiaodie was about to say something when she suddenly shut her mouth and glanced at the maid in the room and the guard outside the door.
Zuan frowned and waved them away.
Those people looked at each other and said, "Lord Zu, this might be a bit inappropriate."
Zu An said coldly, "Are you worried that I might do something to the princess in broad daylight, or are you worried that we might collude to give the same story?"
"No, no!" He spoke with only a faint air of authority, and the guards and maids dared not say anything more, bowing and leaving one after another.
"Princess, you can speak now." Zu An looked at Zhao Xiaodie. Although she looked a little haggard, she was still beautiful. Gone was her usual arrogance. Now she looked like someone I could only pity.
“Brother Zu treated that person like that before, and even said he wasn’t familiar with them.” A blush appeared on Zhao Xiaodie’s pale face, and her expression was particularly strange, as if she had thought of something.
Zuan knew he was referring to the time when the woman tried to assassinate him but was instead beaten up by him; this woman seemed to be a masochist.
He didn't reply, but instead pretended to turn around: "If you're not going to talk, I'm leaving."
"No!" Zhao Xiaodie hurriedly pulled him away, a faint fragrance wafting from her body.
Seeing the other person frown, she quickly said, "This flower is not poisonous."
Zuan subtly shook off her hand, found a chair in the room, sat down, and waited for her to continue.
Seeing that he had no intention of leaving, Zhao Xiaodie breathed a sigh of relief and said in a trembling voice, "Brother Zu, has something happened to my father?"
"It's a matter of life and death..." Zu An said halfway through, but seeing the pleading look in the other person's eyes, his heart softened. "King Qi has indeed passed away."
"Ah!" Although Zhao Xiaodie had already guessed, she was still shocked to find that her face had turned pale and her body swayed. If it weren't for the table next to her supporting her, she probably would have collapsed to the ground.
"How did he die?" Zhao Xiaodie suddenly looked up at Zu An, a flicker of fire in her eyes.
“It has nothing to do with me. You should be able to guess what happened,” Zuan replied coldly.
Hearing that it had nothing to do with him, Zhao Xiaodie's tense heart suddenly relaxed, and she sighed softly: "Actually, I had long expected this day to come, but I didn't expect it to come so soon. The Emperor is invincible in the world and has a deep mind. No matter how powerful my father is, how can he outmaneuver him?"
Zuan remained silent.
At this moment, Zhao Xiaodie suddenly said, "Brother Zu, can you save our Qi Prince's Mansion? After what happened at Zishan, our Qi Prince's Mansion is doomed. My mother, my brother, and countless families related to us will all die without a burial place."
The thought of the punishment for treason sent chills down her spine.
Even if she wasn't executed by slow slicing, she would be sold to a brothel or similar place. The thought of the once high and mighty princesses and noble ladies eventually falling into prostitution and suffering the humiliation and abuse of those lowly men sent chills down her spine.
“Princess, are you mistaken? Everyone knows that your father and I are mortal enemies. He wishes he could get rid of me as soon as possible. Yet you want me to save the Qi King’s lineage?” Zu An said coldly.
“There was a misunderstanding between you and your father back then, but strictly speaking, you shouldn’t have suffered much. It was your father who suffered. I know this request might be a bit excessive, but could you please help me for my sake?” Zhao Xiaodie knelt down in front of him, grabbing his sleeve and pleading with him. “I will repay you by serving you like a slave for the rest of my life.”
Zu An hurriedly helped her up: "Princess, there's no need for this. It's just that this matter is of great importance and not something I can decide. I'm sorry."
Just as he was about to leave, Zhao Xiaodie suddenly raised her voice: "Stop! You don't want others to know about you, Yan Xuehen, and Yun Jianyue, do you?"
Zuan paused, frowning. "I don't know what you're talking about!"
How did this woman know?
Zhao Xiaodie smiled and said, "Brother Zu, to be honest, I really didn't expect you to be so capable. I doubt any man in the world would have thought you were so capable that you could actually get those two infamous rivals to hug and kiss each other. If word got out, I don't know how many of their suitors would want to kill you."
Zu An turned to look at her: "Your imagination is too rich. How could such a thing be possible? If Master Yan or Master Yun heard you slandering them like this, they would probably kill you immediately."
“Brother Zu, stop pretending,” Zhao Xiaodie walked to his side, wrinkled her delicate nose, and sniffed him. “I forgot to tell you, because I need to prepare poisons, I am very familiar with the ingredients of various medicinal herbs. Over time, my nose has become very sensitive, and I can remember the smell of everyone I have come into contact with.”
"You saved me in the secret realm before. Although you were wearing masks at the time, I could still smell your scent... cough cough!"
Zuan's face darkened, and he instantly reached out and grabbed her neck: "It seems I should have let you be killed by the Blood Spirit Venerable back then."
Feeling the increasingly suffocating force on her neck, knowing that the other party could kill her instantly with just a slight squeeze, Zhao Xiaodie showed no fear whatsoever. Instead, an unnatural flush appeared on her face: "My life was saved by Brother Zu. Kill me if you want. Anyway, my father is already dead. Living on would be worse than death for me."
Zu An frowned, threw her to the ground, and said coldly, "If you want to say something, go ahead and say it. Let's see if people believe you."
