As he spoke, he took out the crocodile he had caught by the river earlier from the space of the Glazed Pearl and threw it into the bronze cauldron next to him.
Mi Li exclaimed, "I didn't expect you to have these materials in your storage space. But crocodiles aren't exactly precious materials, so they probably aren't enough to be used as offerings."
Seeing her still gazing longingly at Pei Mianman's retreating figure, Zu An felt a chill run down his spine. He was genuinely worried that she wouldn't be able to restrain herself and would kill Da Manman. He hurriedly took out the Taotie's corpse that he had previously retrieved from the giant pit: "I still have this."
"Taotie? Although it looks disgusting, merchants seem to use it often for war sacrifices, so it should be alright." Mi Li nodded.
Zuan breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that if that wasn't enough, he could use the corpses of those dragons as offerings. His only worry was how to put the enormous dragon corpses into the bronze cauldron.
At this moment, Pei Mianman was startled: "What are you doing?"
I just asked him a question, but he remained silent the whole time. Then he threw the crocodile and the Taotie's carcasses into the large cauldron next to him.
Because the Taotie's body was larger than the cauldron, he took out the Tai'a sword and dismembered its head, limbs, tail, and so on before putting it inside.
The Taotie's juices flowed freely, but for some reason, its corrosive liquid had no effect whatsoever when it fell on the ground or even onto the bronze cauldron.
However, the scene of the dismemberment was really disturbing to look at. If it weren't for the clear look in Zu'an's eyes, she would have thought that the other party was possessed.
“I’m trying to find a way out,” Zaun explained while instructing her, “Use black flames to burn the bottom and try to cook the things inside.”
"Huh?" Pei Mianman looked bewildered. "My black flames aren't even enough to protect the two of us, and now you're sharing them to cook things?"
She simply couldn't understand the other person's thought process.
Zuan quickly explained the connection between the high platform and the sacrificial ceremony.
Pei Mianman was skeptical, but considering that he had always planned carefully before acting, she decided to trust him.
So she used black flames to protect the two of them while sending a wisp of black flames to heat the bottom of the bronze cauldron.
Originally, her black flames could last for about three incense sticks' time, but now they might not even last for one.
She glanced at Zu An, gritted her teeth, but ultimately said nothing.
Zuan pulled her to the side of the bronze cauldron, so that they could use the flames under the cauldron to defend one direction and relieve some of the pressure on her.
The bronze cauldron was originally incredibly heavy, making it difficult for ordinary flames to even reach its interior, let alone cook the contents.
Fortunately, Pei Mianman's black flames were no ordinary thing, and they quickly raised the temperature to a very high level. Before long, a meaty aroma gradually wafted from the bronze cauldron, mixed with a lot of nauseating smells.
It must have been produced by heating the slime and various corrosive liquids on the Taotie's body.
Zuan looked at this pot of culinary monstrosity and his expression became extremely strange. Wouldn't the gods get sick from eating such a thing as a sacrifice and then be punished by heaven?
Unfortunately, there's no turning back now, so I have no choice but to bite the bullet and cook it anyway.
Pei Mianman frowned, unable to help but say, "This taste is really...like...like..."
Seeing her blush and hesitate to speak for a long time, Zu An laughed and said, "Like a pot of boiled shit, isn't it?"
"Stop talking..." Pei Mianman felt a churning in her stomach and couldn't help but gag. "Are you sure this can be used as a sacrifice?"
“It should work,” Zuan said, unsure. “After all, it’s made from cooked ingredients. It might smell a bit awful, but it’s at most like poop-flavored chocolate. It’s still chocolate, much better than chocolate-flavored poop. If you were a god, which would you choose?”
Although she had never heard the word "chocolate" before, Pei Mianman roughly understood what he meant and covered her nose in embarrassment and annoyance: "I won't choose either of them."
In that moment of distraction, her defenses created a gap, and countless evil spirits swarmed in.
Pei Mianman turned pale, and Zu An quickly hugged her and protected her. He had already taken out the magical flashlight from before, which should be very effective against these undead creatures.
He only had one last chance to use it, and he didn't want to waste it unless absolutely necessary.
But there was no way out now. Just as he was about to turn on the flashlight, the evil spirits suddenly seemed to be attracted by something delicious and turned around to fly towards the bronze cauldron next to them.
The large pot of indescribable stuff inside became a delicacy in the eyes of many evil spirits, who rushed towards it one after another, devouring the strange meat in the cauldron at a visible speed.
The cauldron was originally filled with the corpses of crocodiles and gluttons, but it was soon devoured by these evil spirits.
The evil spirits did not emerge from the cauldron again. The eerie and terrifying mist around them gradually dissipated, and the bluish-green color in the torches on both sides of the steps completely faded and returned to normal. Not a single evil spirit could be seen around them anymore.
"It really...it really works." Pei Mianman's face was pale. Just a moment ago, she thought she was going to die, but she never expected to escape alive.
Mi Li snorted inwardly: "Big boobs, no brains, all she does is flaunt her charms and seduce men."
Zuan: "..."
What's wrong with my sister, the Empress, today? She seems quite jealous.
Of course, he dared not say this, lest he add fuel to the fire.
At this moment, a rumbling sound rang out, and a piece of ground behind the bronze cauldron suddenly split into several pieces, then rotated to reveal a circular opening.
