Chapter 533 Reunion

Zhang Zitong was completely bewildered. Seeing his smile, she couldn't help but ask, "What's going on?"

"There's a hidden space behind this mirror. Someone has used some concealment techniques here. It must be that Chi Fuzi's doing." As Zu An spoke, he quickly moved the patterns and animal carvings in several corners of the screen wall.

Immediately afterwards, a faint blue light appeared on the entire wall, but the light gradually faded away as the surrounding layout changed.

The screen wall in front no longer looks like a wall; instead, it ripples like water.

Zhang Zitong reached out and gently touched it with her finger. Soon, ripples spread out in circles, and she exclaimed in surprise, "My lord, there really is a space behind it."

Seeing her react with childlike curiosity, Zu'an found it somewhat amusing. He wondered how this girl had managed to become a silver-ranked embroidered maid.

Just then, Zhang Zitong suddenly exclaimed in surprise, as if she was being pulled inward by a hand from behind that space, and fell into it.

Zuan's expression changed, and he instantly grabbed her other hand, feeling a huge suction force coming from it.

A thought struck him: this seemed to be the power of space, not someone plotting against him from behind.

In the blink of an eye, the two of them were sucked into the screen wall.

A feeling of weightlessness washed over them, and the two of them had fallen to the ground.

Zhang Zitong stumbled and lost her balance, but fortunately Zu An held her hand, which helped her regain her footing.

"Thank you, sir." Feeling the warmth from the other person's palm, Zhang Zitong's heart pounded. She thought to herself that although the sir was usually cold, he still cared about her. Otherwise, he wouldn't have grabbed her hand so quickly to save her.

"Are you scared?" Zu'an asked, puzzled, noticing her unusually rapid heartbeat.

Zhang Zitong originally wanted to say she wasn't afraid, but after thinking about it again, she nodded somewhat shyly: "I've never encountered anything like this before, so I am indeed a little scared."

That way, I can continue to hold an adult's hand openly and legitimately.

Unfortunately, Zu'an didn't give her a chance and naturally let go of her hand: "There's nothing to be afraid of, just follow behind me."

"Oh." Zhang Zitong couldn't help but feel a little disappointed, but seeing that the other person was subtly protecting her behind him, her mood immediately improved.

Only then did she have the time to look around. Seeing the familiar buildings nearby, she was taken aback: "Huh, are we still in the same place?"

“Of course not, this is the world behind that screen wall.” Zuan walked forward.

Zhang Zitong hurriedly followed: "Hmm, it does seem a bit different. Many places are reversed from where we were just now, and the sky here is shrouded in mist, looking very eerie and strange."

Zuan used the Spirit Jade Cong to sense the surroundings and found that there were no living animals.

His divine sense could not extend very far, clearly because the mist blocked his divine sense.

Having gotten used to using divine sense, this situation feels like being blind; it's really not what I'm used to.

The two walked up a bluestone path, which led to a courtyard house. Each of the four sides had an open door, and inside each side, a bluestone path led down.

“These doors all look exactly the same,” Zhang Zitong glanced back and was immediately horrified. “They’re the same way we came!”

Her voice echoed incessantly in the courtyard, adding to the eeriness of the place.

Zuan remained calm and continued walking forward. After walking along the long bluestone path, the two found themselves back at the starting point. The screen wall stood before them, but this time it was solid stone, without any water-like ripples.

"We can't go back!" Zhang Zitong's voice trembled slightly. She didn't understand what was wrong with her. Usually, when faced with such dangers, she would be very decisive and would quickly find a way to solve the problem. But now, beside the Eleventh Lord, she felt like a weak woman and was actually afraid.

"It turned into a wall as soon as we came in, didn't you notice?" Zuan replied casually, while looking around at the surrounding terrain.

Zhang Zitong felt a little embarrassed, realizing she had indeed been careless: "We were clearly moving forward the whole time, so why did we end up back here?"

“Many formations have similar effects. The space here is distorted to a certain extent, which can mislead people’s sense of direction,” Zu’an explained as he continued walking forward.

"Is this the legendary 'ghost wall'?" Zhang Zitong asked doubtfully as he continued walking forward. "Didn't we just walk this way? Why don't we try another route?"

“It does resemble being trapped in a maze, but this is clearly more sophisticated,” Zuan replied. “Most people, after what just happened, would instinctively look for other paths, unaware that this would lead them into the situation the other side wants. Continuing forward, I need to assess what exactly is going on with this spatial dislocation.”

He paused, then added, "You're going first this time?"

"Huh?" Zhang Zitong's face fell immediately.

Does the master intend for me to scout ahead and trigger the trap? She had heard that some of the Embroidered Robe Envoys were ruthless and would send their subordinates ahead as cannon fodder.

But I don't think the Eleventh Lord is that kind of person.

She took a deep breath: "Okay!"

She then strode ahead, her long legs carrying her, but instead of her usual dashing figure, she walked with small, delicate steps, like a young lady raised in seclusion.

Seeing her trembling appearance, Zu An chuckled and said, "Don't be afraid, I will protect you."

Zhang Zitong finally breathed a sigh of relief and mustered her courage to ask, "Why does Your Excellency require me to walk in front?"
