"What are you regretting?" Pei Mianman asked curiously.
"It's nothing." Zu An blushed, too embarrassed to say it aloud, feeling ashamed even himself. "Have you already refined Fu Hao, the Owl Lord?"
“Not bad, I have established a mental connection with it.” Pei Mianman opened her jade-like hand slightly, and a miniature owl appeared in her palm, slowly rotating.
Zuan watched with envy, not for anything else, but because he thought the pose was incredibly cool: "What's the purpose of this Owl Lord?"
Pei Mianman shook her head: "I know very little about it now. I only vaguely know that it is related to the night. I need to study and explore it more slowly."
Zuan nodded. Many magical artifacts require complete soul-to-soul connection to unleash their full potential. Pei Mianman had just refined this Owl Lord, but given her past experience as Fu Hao, she would likely achieve complete soul-to-soul connection soon.
"By the way, after I refined the Owl Lord, a mechanism appeared on the ground, which seems to lead down below," Pei Mianman mentioned.
When Zuan arrived at the spot where the Owl had stood, he saw a dark tunnel on the ground. The murals on both sides of the tunnel looked familiar, and he suddenly blurted out, "This is the tomb of Fu Hao."
"Huh? How did you know?" Pei Mianman asked curiously.
Zuan showed a hint of regret: "Have you forgotten that I built this tomb after you died in the trial? The murals on it, and this owl statue, are exactly the same as I remember."
Pei Mianman gently took his hand: "It's all in the past, and I'm still by your side now."
Zuan nodded: "Yes, let's go down first. I remember that the jade cong of the Dongyi people is among the burial objects. Let's go and retrieve it, and not forget our promise to that girl Jiang Jiang."
"But wouldn't it be inappropriate to disturb her peace like this?" Pei Mianman asked with some concern.
Zu An smiled slightly: "You've forgotten that you are Fu Hao and I am Wu Ding. I'm just revisiting an old place. Even if she has a spirit in heaven, she would be overjoyed to see an old friend."
Pei Mianman muttered, "The trials are all fake." Although she said that, she was clearly much more relaxed.
The two walked down the steps, and sure enough, everything inside was arranged exactly as he remembered it, making Zu An feel somewhat dazed, and he once again experienced the disorientation of Zhuangzi's dream.
Following his memory, he easily found the jade cong, as well as the bronze yan containing Jiang Jiang's head. During the trial, Zu An was worried that he would not be able to find it in the future, so he specially ordered that Jiang Jiang's skull be found and placed in this tomb, just to make it easier to find today. He never expected that it would actually be here.
Pei Mianman's expression was somewhat strange: "It's really here? Could it be that everything we experienced during the trial was real?"
"It may not be as you and I imagine. With our current knowledge, it's normal that we can't explain such a coincidence. Don't overthink it." Although Zu'an said this, his gaze was fixed on the huge coffin beside him.
Pei Mianman's gaze also shifted upwards, and suddenly she said in a deep voice, "I want to see the person in the coffin."
Zuan held her hand and shook his head slightly: "There's no need. In my heart, you are my Manman, not anyone else. Why bother yourself?"
Pei Mianman was taken aback at first, then smiled sweetly: "You're right, I am who I am, so why should I have wild thoughts that would ruin my Dao heart?"
With their minds at ease, the two stopped dwelling on wild guesses and left Fu Hao's tomb hand in hand.
“Oh right, I already know how to leave this secret realm,” Pei Mianman suddenly said, as if she had remembered something.
"How do we leave?" Zu'an asked hurriedly. The two of them had been in this secret realm for too long and didn't know how Chu Yan and the others were doing outside.
Although Mi Li confirmed that the trial hadn't lasted very long, the two of them had spent a considerable amount of time in the secret realm before the trial. If the flow of time in the secret realm was different from that outside, and by the time they came out, everything had changed beyond recognition, then they would truly be in trouble.
“This Owl Lord is the key to this secret realm’s formation. Controlling it allows us to leave at any time,” Pei Mianman replied. “However, once the key to the formation is gone, this secret realm will probably never be able to be opened again.”
Zuan said in a deep voice, "So let's give the things to Jiang Jiang first before we leave, at least so that she can finish praying for the souls of her people."
Both of them were men of their word and naturally did not want to break their promises. Soon they went out the door and arrived at the place where they had parted ways with the girl.
"Jiang Jiang?" It was pitch black all around, and there was nothing there, so Zu An had no choice but to call out to her.
Anyway, this is Jiang Jiang's territory, and with all the adventures and experiences they've had, they're not afraid of attracting any danger.
“She’s here,” Pei Mianman said, pointing in a direction.
Zuan was taken aback. He looked over, but it was pitch black, and he couldn't see anything. "How can you see anything in this darkness?"
“It must be thanks to Fu Hao’s Owl Lord. Owls are the kings of the night. I see this night as if it were daytime. I have a feeling that once I fully control the Owl Lord, I might be able to create night out of thin air and lure the enemy into battle,” Pei Mianman said excitedly.
"This must be some kind of realm. At that time, even if you encounter someone with a higher cultivation level than you, you will probably be able to put up a fight," Zu An exclaimed.
As the two were chatting, the ghost girl from before appeared before them: "Big brother, big sister..."
She had been excitedly approaching, but her expression suddenly changed when she saw the two of them.
However, the two were in a hurry to leave and did not notice the subtle change in her expression. Zu An handed the jade cong to her: "Jiang Jiang, we have fulfilled our mission and found the jade cong you asked for."
