"What happened?" Hearing the seriousness in the other person's tone, Bi Linglong forgot her anger and hurriedly asked anxiously.
"I have been sent by the Emperor to Yi County..." he said, explaining in detail the task that Zhao Hao had just assigned to him.
This was the first time Bi Linglong had heard of this matter, and her expression changed slightly upon hearing it.
"You just got back and they're sending you to Yi County again?" Bi Linglong frowned, seemingly very dissatisfied.
In that instant, Zu An felt a warmth in his heart. Hearing her tone, he realized that she considered him one of her own.
Bi Linglong's resentment vanished as well. When she heard Zu An tell her about the mission he had just received without reservation, proving that their relationship was the closest, she suddenly felt that her anger over the past few days was somewhat unfounded.
"There's no other way, it's my duty," Zu An sighed.
Bi Linglong knew, of course, that this was not her duty, but rather that the emperor was now too powerful, so powerful that they had no power to resist. Thinking of this, she sighed softly, "I'm sorry to have troubled you. Be careful on your journey. I will wait for you here to come back."
Hearing her heartfelt confession, Zu An couldn't help but walk over, wrap his arms around her slender waist, and kiss her as she looked on in astonishment.
Bi Linglong trembled and instinctively tried to push him away, but he didn't move. Soon, the familiar scent made her body gradually soften.
The two kissed for a while, and Bi Linglong finally caught her breath. She looked at him coquettishly and said, "You're so bold. The Crown Prince is still outside."
"So what?" It would have been better if he hadn't heard that; upon hearing it, Zu'an kissed him again.
Bi Linglong's waist was as slender as a willow branch, and she was pressed backward, falling onto the desk.
Feeling that familiar oppressive aura, Bi Linglong blushed deeply: "If the Emperor finds out, we're doomed."
She could disregard the foolish crown prince, but she couldn't ignore the emperor. With the cultivation of an Earth Immortal, once his divine sense was activated, no clue in the entire palace could escape his notice.
"Don't worry, he doesn't have time to deal with these things right now." Zu'an was confident in saying this. If Zhao Hao were to monitor the entire palace at all times, he and the Empress would have been dead long ago.
Bi Linglong was unaware of the key to this situation. The emperor's power had left an indelible impression on her, but being held by her lover made her weak all over and unable to resist.
And so, half-heartedly, the two of them returned to the intimate state they had been in during their time in the secret realm.
Fearing discovery by the emperor, palace maids, or even the crown prince, Bi Linglong was more sensitive than usual today. Zu An experienced this most acutely, feeling as if he were in a constantly trembling wave. Soon, the two reached a state of spiritual and physical unity.
Their time together had never been so short, but it had also never been so wonderful.
After embracing for a long time, Bi Linglong finally came to her senses, pushed Zu An away, lowered her skirt, carefully straightened the wrinkles, and said in a sickeningly sweet voice, "You annoying guy, you always bully me."
"Are you still angry?" Looking at the other person's inexplicably beautiful appearance after the afterglow, Zu An's heart was filled with affection.
"Who's angry with you?" Bi Linglong felt a little guilty. Seeing the other person's ambiguous smile, she could only say coquettishly, "Alright, alright, it's because you've only been spending time with Chu Chuyan lately and haven't paid any attention to me."
Zuan was both amused and exasperated: "She's my wife. We've been apart for so long, who else should I spend time with?"
"She's clearly with you, so how can she still be your wife?" Bi Linglong said indignantly. "Then what am I to you?"
As soon as she said it, she regretted it, and then felt a pang of self-pity. She knew that their relationship could probably never be made public, and she felt quite depressed.
At that moment, Rong Mo's voice came from outside: "Your Highness, Lord Jiang is requesting an audience."
Clearly, as Bi Linglong's personal maid, she knew that it was somewhat inappropriate for the Crown Princess to spend so much time alone with a man, so she took the opportunity to remind her.
Bi Linglong also realized what was happening, and after straightening her clothes again to make sure there was nothing wrong, she said to the outside, "Let Lord Jiang in."
Not long after, a handsome young man walked in: "Greetings, Crown Princess."
He froze for a moment, noticing that the Crown Princess looked even more radiant than usual, but he quickly recovered and bowed to Zu An, saying, "Greetings, Lord Zu."
Zu An had a memory of this person: Jiang Gui, the Crown Prince's attendant. He was the Crown Prince's attendant and usually served as the vanguard when the Crown Prince traveled. He was one of the most important officials in the Eastern Palace.
Jiang Gui was also an acquaintance to some extent. He was the son of Jiang Shan, the third son of Jiang Boyang, and his mother was the matriarch of the Yu family, so he was related to Yu Yanluo. In addition, Jiang Luofu, as the youngest daughter of Jiang Boyang, was Jiang Gui's aunt.
Throughout the entire Great Zhou Dynasty, apart from the Yu family, the Jiang family was the most famous for its good looks.
Each of his sons and daughters was exceptionally good-looking, and Jiang Gui combined the best features of both the Jiang and Yu families. From a young age, he was implicitly hailed as the most handsome man in the capital—until Zu An came to the capital, and his title was stolen.
He was quite indignant about this, feeling that in terms of appearance, Zu An was not much better than him, and in terms of cultivation, he didn't seem to be much better either. The only thing he lacked was that he was born into a wealthy family and his life had been too smooth. He didn't have as many hardships as Zu An, and naturally, he didn't have as many opportunities to show his abilities.
Of course, as a scion of a prominent family, he also had his own pride and self-cultivation. Although he was unhappy, he did not hate Zu'an because of it; he only felt a competitive spirit.
However, in Zu'an's view, regardless of the relationship with Yu Yanluo or Jiang Luofu, this guy was just his nephew or niece, not a competitor.
