Chapter 956 Maintaining Chastity

Chu Youzhao snorted: "Even my older sister isn't in a hurry, so why is she in such a rush? Anyone who doesn't know better would think that my brother-in-law is her husband."

Hearing her muttering, Zu'an chuckled. The two were not much different in age, so she probably didn't quite accept Chu Huanzhao as her older sister. Of course, given Chu Huanzhao's temper, she must have beaten her up quite a bit in the past.

"Stop looking, play shuttlecock with me!" Chu Youzhao reached out to tear up the letter so she wouldn't have to see it.

Fortunately, Zuan was quick-witted and snatched it into his arms: "Alright, alright, but don't cry if you lose."

"You are not allowed to use your cultivation!" Chu Youzhao wasn't stupid, and immediately said.

"I won't use it then!" Zuan said confidently, thinking to himself, "I can't beat a little brat like you?"

However, not long after, he regretted it to the core, because Chu Youzhao was too agile and flexible, and she could always kick the shuttlecock back at some tricky angles.

Her silvery laughter echoed through the courtyard. The maids and servants outside whispered among themselves, thinking that they had never seen the young master so happy before, but why did he laugh so much like a girl today?

...

After playing with Chu Youzhao for a while, Zu An insisted on leaving despite her attempts to persuade him to stay.

Chu Youzhao was still not satisfied and waved to him from the doorway: "Brother-in-law, come and play again next time."

Looking back at her bright smile, Zuan suddenly felt that even if he kept losing, it didn't seem like a big deal.

"Oh, and remember to write back to my sisters, they're waiting for you." Seeing the other person waving at her, Chu Youzhao remembered her two older sisters' instructions and hurriedly reminded them.

"I understand." Zu An felt a warm glow in his heart, thinking how nice it felt to be remembered. Sigh, he hadn't even thought to write to them lately, only knowing how to have fun and be a womanizer. He was such a jerk.

"I must remember to correct my mistakes from now on. Starting today, I must keep in mind the virtues of a man and remain chaste for my wife!" He kept reminding himself.

As he walked, his gaze suddenly fell upon a familiar courtyard. After hesitating for a moment, he finally headed in that direction.

Sang Qian's matter needs to be resolved eventually; he's not the kind of person who abandons someone after the fact.

Moreover, now that the Sang family is allied with him, if this matter causes any rift, the consequences will be even more serious.

Upon arriving at the Sang family home, Sang Hong and Zheng Dan were both surprised and delighted to hear of his arrival, and they warmly welcomed him.

"Little Qian...where's my sister?" Why does saying that familiar term of address feel so guilty now?

Zu An looked around, but unfortunately, he couldn't see Sang Qian anywhere.

"She's not feeling well and is resting in her room," Sang Hong said with a smile, his expression showing no sign of distress.

Upon hearing the words "feeling unwell," Zu An's heart skipped a beat. He knew perfectly well why the other person was feeling unwell.

Thinking back to how she had mistaken the other person for Zheng Dan and kept her up for most of the night, how could a young girl like her possibly endure that?

Thinking of this, he felt even more guilty. After a moment's thought, he said, "Uncle, there's something I need to tell you."

Sang Hong looked somewhat surprised, as if he had thought of something, but he did not show it: "Nephew, our two families are now allied and are already very close. Please feel free to speak your mind."

Looking at the other person's warm smile, Zu An felt inexplicably guilty. After all, the other person had tacitly approved of his relationship with Zheng Dan, and now that he had stolen his daughter, even if they had a good relationship, they would eventually fall out, right?

He knew he was in for a world of hurt, so he took a deep breath and finally spoke: "Uncle, it's like this, Xiaoqian and I..."

"Father!" Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by a crisp voice. Everyone turned around and saw Sang Qian standing at the door.

Her face was pale, there was a hint of fatigue between her brows, and her eyes were red, as if she had just been crying.

“Qian’er.” Sang Hong was also somewhat surprised to see her, and his expression was quite complicated.

Sang Qian ignored him and walked straight towards Zu An: "What are you doing here?"

Zheng Dan, standing to the side, looked suspicious, sensing that something was off about the tone of their voices.

Even with his thick skin, Zu An felt a little guilty under the other party's gaze: "I came here to clarify some things, and to take responsibility..."

“There’s nothing I don’t understand,” Sang Qian interrupted him again. “Can’t we just continue getting along like before? Did you want to come and discuss the matter of Yunzhong County?”

"Uh... sort of." Zuan was a little confused, and answered instinctively.

Just then, he heard Sang Qian's voice transmission: "Have you forgotten what you promised me? You're not allowed to tell anyone what happened last night."

“But that’s not fair to you,” Zuan replied.

"There are no 'buts' or 'no's. If you really feel sorry for me, do as I say, or I'll kill myself right now," Sang Qian said coldly.

"Uh... okay." Seeing her resolute attitude, Zu'an had no choice but to agree.

“It’s almost time for dinner, Brother Zu, why don’t you stay for the meal?” Sang Qian said directly after ending the private chat.

"Okay." Zu'an was somewhat flattered. What did the other party mean by this? Why didn't she tell the truth herself? Wouldn't she be being taken advantage of for nothing?

No one knows a daughter better than her father. Seeing her behavior, Sang Hong sighed inwardly, thinking that his daughter was dissatisfied with his arrangements and did not want to cooperate with him in using her as a bargaining chip to blackmail Zu An.

Little did she know that the more she did this, the better the effect would be.

Soon after, the maidservants served wine and dishes, and Sang Hong and Zu An chatted happily, showing no sign of anything amiss.

Sang Qian felt sad, but she still forced a smile and talked to her sister-in-law.
