Chapter 268: Blatantly Beating People
The two girls looked up at her.
Ye Jinmo broke the awkwardness: "Brother, I'm saying that if Sister Qinghuan has a boyfriend, you must be the first to tell me."
She looked at her elder brother's nervous look and found it a little funny.
Zhong Shaoqing relaxed a little, put down the porridge and side dishes, and also bought some buns.
Late in the evening, almost twelve o'clock, three people sat around the coffee table.
Ye Jinmo ate just half a bowl of porridge.
"Jinmo," Zhong Shaoqing put down his chopsticks, his tone unclear, "Does Jiang Xirui bother you often?"
"No," she thought for a moment, "The last time we met was the night we watched the lanterns during the Lantern Festival. I don't like this guy very much. I heard he lost a lot of money gambling."
"Why did you suddenly ask about him, brother?"
Zhong Shaoqing handed her a small bun and said, "Nothing. I just saw that old lady Ji next door was sick and he and his mother were guarding her bedside, so I asked casually."
After a simple midnight snack, he put his sister to bed.
Tan Qinghuan slept on the accompanying bed next to him, and he curled up on the sofa.
After eating and drinking, Ye Jinmo felt much more comfortable and fell asleep quickly.
The only sound in the air was breathing.
The moonlight outside the window is bright, shining in through the gauze screen.
Tan Qinghuan turned her head, her eyes fell on the tall man on the sofa, and pursed her lips.
The sofa was a simple two-seater, about 1.5 meters long. Zhong Shaoqing, who was 1.85 meters tall, slept on it with his legs just touching the ground and his whole body curled up.
"Brother Zhong, are you asleep?"
The man closed his eyes: "Not yet, what's wrong?"
"...Or, you can come and sleep on the bed. This bed should be about 1.2 meters wide, and two people can sleep on it if they squeeze together." Her voice became lower and lower as she pondered how to say this appropriately.
"That sofa is too small and not very comfortable."
The man suddenly stood up, walked to the bed in three steps, and lay down on his side.
She moved to the side, and the two of them stood back to back with a thin gap between them.
Despite this, she could still feel the man's gentle warmth.
The atmosphere was subtle, and before I knew it, the madness of that night came to my mind.
She bit her lip lightly, pulled the thin blanket tighter around her body, closed her eyes, and tried to empty herself.
The man's eyes were clear, and behind him was the woman's even breathing, which made him feel inexplicably at peace.
When I woke up the next morning, Zhong Shaoqing was no longer in the ward.
When Tan Qinghuan woke up, he saw his coat still on the quilt.
She threw back the quilt and got out of bed, took the thermometer and took Ye Jinmo's temperature again. It had returned to normal, but she was still sweating.
Ye Jinmo turned over, opened her eyes drowsily, and sat up on her arms. Her body was sticky and the hospital gown stuck to her skin, which was very uncomfortable.
"Awake?" Tan Qinghuan helped her up. "The fever has subsided. Be more careful in the next few days."
"Thank you Sister Qinghuan..."
Before he could finish his words, Ji Sichen pushed the door open, holding breakfast in his hands. He was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday and looked exhausted.
Seeing her sitting up, his eyes lit up, and he quickly walked over, put down the breakfast in his hand, sat down beside the bed, raised his hand to push away the broken hair on her forehead: "How do you feel?"
"Much better, my fever has gone down, where's Grandma Ji?"
"Grandma has woken up. The doctor checked her and said she's fine."
Ji Sichen looked up and spoke gratefully: "Ms. Tan, you took great pains to take care of Jinmo last night. I have already informed Mr. Tan, and he has arranged a car to pick you up and take you home to rest."
Ye Jinmo paused while drinking porridge: "Where's my brother?"
His eyes flashed: "There was an emergency at the company this morning, so he went back first..."
Before he finished speaking, Zhong Shaoqing knocked on the door and came in, followed by Zhong's mother.
"Jinmo, why didn't you tell your mother that you were sick?" Mother Zhong came in hurriedly with a lunch box in her hand.
"This is the chicken soup that mom cooked early in the morning. If your eldest brother hadn't called me, I wouldn't have known you were sick." She blamed herself as she opened the lunch box.
"Mom, my fever has gone down. I'm fine now."
Zhong's mother refused and scooped a bowl of chicken soup and handed it to her, insisting that she finish it.
"By the way, Qinghuan, there's still a lot of chicken soup here, so drink some too!"
As she said this, she was about to take the bowl.
"Auntie, no need. I'm going home to have dinner with my grandpa." Tan Qinghuan declined with a faint smile.
"Shaoqing, go and see Qinghuan off."
The two went out together.
Ji Sichen's phone vibrated. After a few brief greetings, he left the ward.
Orthopedic department.
Ji Minghua's eyes were red. Jiang Xirui was lying on the hospital bed with wounds all over his body. His face was swollen like a bun and his joints were bandaged.
Seeing him come in, Ji Minghua rushed over and said, "Si Chen, what happened to the Zhong family? Why did they let someone beat Rui Rui like this?"
Ji Sichen glanced at her coldly: "Didn't you ask him what he did to make the Zhong family angry?"
She was silent for a moment, looked at her son cautiously, and her voice became noticeably softer: "No matter what you do, you can't beat someone like this!"
Jiang Xirui could barely speak: "Cousin, it's... it's Zhong Shaoqing, he actually dared to hit me, he didn't take you seriously at all!"
Last night he and Ji Sichen dealt with matters on the construction site and did not return until almost dawn, when they met Zhong Shaoqing on the way.
Without saying a word, they dragged him out and had him beaten up by a few burly men.
He has been living a life of luxury for many years and has no power to fight back.
Ji Sichen pulled a chair over and sat down. He glanced at him calmly, frowning slightly: "You are still stubborn at this time. Why don't you talk to your mother about what you planned to do to Jinmo last night?"
After saying this, Ji Minghua felt a little guilty, after all, it was she who sent Ji Sichen away.
"Rui Rui, did you do anything bad to Miss Ye? Didn't you say you were just going to see her to express your gratitude?"
Jiang Xirui reacted and laughed dryly: "Yes, cousin, nothing happened last night..."
"Well, if anything had happened, you would have been in the morgue today."
Ji Sichen flicked his trousers, his voice cold: "Zhong Shaoqing didn't paralyze you, it was already for my sake."
"Si Chen, how can you say that?" Ji Minghua was dissatisfied. "Rui Rui also said that he didn't do anything to Ye Jinmo. The Zhong family actually beat people up openly. They must give an explanation for this matter!"
Ji Sichen tapped the armrest with his fingers, his eyes becoming even colder: "Aunt, the Zhong family's mistress is in the hospital. If you don't mind being embarrassed, take your son there."
She choked, opened her mouth, and muttered, "Si Chen, you should come forward to deal with this matter..."
"Pa", Ji Sichen slapped the bedside table and stood up.
Ji Minghua didn't dare to breathe.
"Aunt, do you really not know what your son is thinking? I have warned you long ago not to set your sights on Jin Mo. Not only will I not let him go, but the Zhong family will not let him go either."
He paused, turned his head and glanced at the pale-faced man on the hospital bed: "You'd better think carefully about how to deal with the casualties caused by the sudden explosion and landslide at the construction site. If you can't handle this matter well, get out of Yunyan!"
