Chapter Nine: I think I saw my uncle.

Chapter Nine: I think I saw my uncle.

Xia Zhi seemed to notice the commotion and gently tugged at Yan Mingshen's sleeve.

Su Xiao wanted to avoid it, but someone just had to come up to her and expose her embarrassment.

Qin Yu took half a step closer to her, subtly blocking Yan Mingshen's gaze, his voice neither too loud nor too soft:

"It's crowded here, I'll go to the front desk and ask for a private room."

"This place is very popular, so we probably won't be able to get a private room at this time."

Yan Mingshen walked over with Xia Zhi, wearing a bespoke black suit.

His straight shoulders made his features appear less gentle than usual.

"Let's eat together, bring your junior brother along."

"Yes, Miss Su, let's go together."

Xia Zhi looked at Su Xiao with a smile. Her white gauze dress made her skin look as white as snow, like a white thorn plum bud with dew on it.

"No."

Su Xiao tugged at the corners of her mouth, her tone gentle:

"Spend more time with Xia Zhi; after all, she's a guest."

She deliberately emphasized the word "guest".

It seems that he is venting his dissatisfaction.

Just as the stalemate was reaching its conclusion, the crowd suddenly became agitated.

Someone shouted "Reporter!" and countless cameras instantly flooded in.

Before Su Xiao could react, a rotten egg hit her head.

The cloudy egg liquid mixed with the yolk dripped down her hair.

A nauseating smell instantly filled the entire restaurant lobby, and the crowd surged forward, blocking Su Xiao's path.

I don't know who leaked the news.

The group of people at the front, carrying cameras, rushed up like madmen and started filming Su Xiao.

The flashes of light were so intense that she couldn't open her eyes at all.

Su Xiao was completely stunned, her mind went blank, and she could only stand there, letting the egg liquid run down her cheeks.

"Ms. Su, what are your thoughts on the gallery fire?"

A microphone was shoved into Su Xiao's face without much force.

With someone taking the lead, the other reporters quickly handed over their microphones.

"Miss Su, is there some kind of conflict between you and your father? Is there any inside story behind this?"

"The internet says you started the fire. As a survivor, what do you have to say?"

"......"

Reporters rushed forward without regard for anything else, shoving microphones into Su Xiao's forehead several times, causing the injured area to quickly turn bruised.

The surrounding laughter and chatter grew increasingly unpleasant.

"ungrateful wretch"

"Heartless"

The various vulgar and obscene words were like knives, constantly stabbing into Su Xiao's heart.

"Make way, everyone move aside!"

Qin Yu was the first to react. He pulled Su Xiao behind him, and his two apprentices immediately stood beside him.

The three of them formed a wall around Su Xiao, protecting her behind them.

In the chaos, Su Xiao noticed that things were also in disarray on Yan Mingshen's side.

Xia Zhi suddenly clutched her head and collapsed, her face ashen white.

"Xiaxia!"

Yan Mingshen's voice suddenly changed tone, and he subconsciously picked up Xia Zhi, his eyes filled with panic:

Call an ambulance! Quickly!

Bodyguards immediately surrounded him and rushed him out, his gaze sweeping over Su Xiao, who was surrounded by reporters.

He paused for only half a second before Xia Zhi's faint groan pulled him back to his senses, and he rushed out the door without looking back.

That half-second hesitation was like a blunt needle, slowly piercing Su Xiao's heart.

The expectation in her eyes gradually faded, leaving only cold numbness.

Qin Yu took a breath and tried his best to calm himself down:

"It's alright, senior sister, I'll call someone from the studio to help right away..."

"Those kids aren't very old, how could they possibly squeeze past the entertainment reporters?"

Su Xiao stopped Qin Yu; her fingertips were cold, and her voice trembled.

"I've already messaged Xu An; she owns a security company..."

She watched as the two people got into the car surrounded by bodyguards, and Xia Zhi's white dress didn't even get a speck of dust on it.

It would be a lie to say she wasn't angry, but there was nothing she could do.

My face was so sticky that I couldn't tell if it was sweat or tears.

These paparazzi didn't care about anything else; cameras of all sizes squeezed in to get next to Su Xiao.

Qin Yu's shoulder was bumped by the camera lens, and his two apprentices stood by to protect him. The more they retreated, the more chaotic the scene became.

Someone in the crowd shouted something.

"This kind of rotten person should die."

Then the crowd became agitated again, and in the shoving, Su Xiao was suddenly hit on the wrist by a microphone that appeared out of nowhere.

Her face turned pale, and cold sweat streamed down her forehead.

It was hot in the capital at this time of year, and Su Xiao felt dizzy and her vision blurred.

A purple Rolls-Royce slowly came to a stop not far away.

"Sir, it looks like Miss Su up ahead." The driver glanced at his master's expression in the rearview mirror.

The aloof and indifferent man slightly lifted his eyelids.

Those captivating fox eyes were languid, with brown eyebrows and fair skin, and a hint of mockery at the corners of their brows.

"I'm not blind."

Aren't you going to do anything about it?

"..."

The man didn't say anything, but slowly straightened his clothes, his gaze unconsciously falling on Su Xiao, whose face was pale, through the car window.

"Where is that good-for-nothing husband of hers?"

"The informant we sent there said that the Xia family member was just taken to the hospital."

The driver leaned back in his seat, waiting for his master's instructions.

The atmosphere in the carriage was almost frozen. The man just stared, not saying a word for a long time.

"Let's go take a look."

The man had a cold face and deep features. Once he put away his expression, the oppressive aura of a superior instantly rose up.

A dark purple Rolls-Royce sped closer, followed by a line of black cars.

The crowd was dispersed instantly.

Su Xiao only saw a person in a black shirt push past the reporters and walk towards her. Before she could see clearly, everything went black, and she collapsed softly at Qin Yu's feet.

The man walked quickly closer, but picked up Su Xiao very gently.

His sharp gaze swept coldly over the group of reporters: "You dare touch my people?"

The black-clad bodyguards behind him instantly stepped forward, forming a human wall that kept the reporter three meters away.

I woke up in the hospital.

Su Xiao opened her eyes, looked at the white ceiling, felt her throat was dry and uncomfortable, and felt pain all over her body.

She was about to get up when Xu An pressed her down.

"Are you thirsty? Have some water."

Xu An held the cup and brought the straw to Su Xiao's lips.

"Does your hand still hurt?"

"A little."

Su Xiao took a sip of water and finally felt a sense of reality that she was alive.

Her hands were wrapped in thick bandages, and she couldn't move.

"I think I saw my uncle... Hmm, how are Qin Yu and the others?"

"It's probably an illusion. Qin Yu's shoulder is bruised, and the other two also have abrasions of varying degrees, but fortunately they're not serious and have already returned to the studio."

Xu An followed the other party's instructions and made up an excuse, looking at her with heartache, his tone inevitably tinged with reproach:

"As for you, you didn't even try to hide. You've had a fever ever since you came back, and your hand injury has flared up again. I don't know if you'll ever recover."

"If I hide, those three will tear me apart alive." Su Xiao shook her head, indicating that she would stop drinking.

"What's going on with those reporters...?"

"Xia Zhi did it." Xu An put the water glass back on the low cabinet. "But I had someone take some unflattering photos of them."

Xu An took out his phone and handed it to Su Xiao.

"Look."
