Chapter Sixty-Eight: President Xu Shows Off His Scarf
The clerk hesitated for a moment, then quickly nodded: "Okay, sir, please wait a moment, we'll pack it for you right away!"
Upon hearing this, Su Xiao quickly tugged at his hand:
"Xu Bozhou, don't waste money!"
Xu Bozhou took her hand in return, gently tickling her palm with his fingertips, a triumphant smile in his eyes:
"I'm in a good mood, so I'll let you stock up on them for fun."
After the two finished shopping, it was getting late.
After taking Su Xiao home, Xu Bozhou went out again.
He has a drinking party scheduled for today, and he really can't get out of it.
The private rooms in the club were bathed in warm light, with crystal chandeliers refracting delicate rays of light.
Several opened bottles of whiskey sat on the sandalwood table, ice cubes clinking softly against the glass.
When Xu Bozhou opened the door, Tang Yi was leaning back on the sofa with her legs crossed, playing with her phone.
Gu Ming, dressed in a clean white shirt, sat to the side drinking, with an unlit cigarette between his fingers.
He was handsome and gentle, and his every move exuded the air of a refined gentleman.
Xu Bozhou took off his black leather jacket and casually draped it over the armrest of the sofa, deliberately slowing down his movements.
The bright red cashmere scarf around his neck slipped down first, and he gently picked it up, folded it twice, and neatly draped it over the collar of his jacket. The bright red was eye-catching and stood out against the dark leather.
"Did Mr. Xu change his style today?"
Gu Ming looked up first, his gaze falling on the scarf with a hint of mockery.
"This red color is quite festive, what's wrong? Did you suddenly change your mind?"
Tang Yi also came over to take a look, raising an eyebrow and joking:
"I thought you only knew black, white, and gray in your life."
Xu Bozhou didn't sit down. He poured himself a glass of whiskey, and as soon as the ice cubes hit the glass, he spoke casually, his tone revealing barely suppressed smugness:
"It was given to me by Su Xiao."
"Su Xiao?"
Gu Ming paused for a moment, then smiled knowingly.
"No wonder, he begged me to come all that way that day, it turns out it was his sweetheart."
He finally got a day off, but before he could even get into bed, Chen Huai grabbed his trouser leg and dragged him out the door crying.
"......Um."
Xu Bozhou touched the rim of the glass with his fingertips, the smile in his eyes impossible to hide:
"She said it looked warm and wouldn't feel stuffy with my clothes."
"Who asked him?" Tang Yi scoffed and leaned back on the sofa. "You're something else. If Yan Mingshen knew, he'd probably smash that empty cabinet in the house again."
The atmosphere in the private room paused slightly upon mentioning the Yan family.
Gu Ming put down his cigarette, his tone becoming somewhat indifferent:
"The Yan family has been in quite a mess lately. I heard that Xia Zhi was assigned to another place, and she has been crying and making a scene these past two days, completely disgracing the Yan family."
"That's what he deserves."
Tang Yi sneered. The old man felt sorry for Su Xiao and had always treated the girl like a younger sister.
How could he not be angry after the Yan family did such a thing?
Xu Bozhou's fingers tightened around the wine glass, and when he looked up, the smile in his eyes was gone:
"Some people hold pearls in their hands but insist on throwing them away like fish eyes, while others will pick them up and protect them carefully."
Yan Mingshen is a man who wouldn't be satisfied even if he went to hell a hundred times.
Gu Ming glanced at him, but didn't reply. He just poured himself some more wine.
Just then, the door to the private room was gently pushed open.
Zhou Qingmo walked in from outside, wearing a well-tailored dark gray suit, with the cuffs of his white shirt rolled up to his forearms, revealing a low-key mechanical watch on his wrist.
He wore thin-rimmed glasses on his nose, his gaze behind the lenses was gentle, and a faint smile played at the corners of his mouth.
"I'm late, please don't mind."
He walked to the sofa, nodded to the group, and spoke in a gentle tone, without any airs.
"I just finished discussing a contract with my partner next door, and when I heard you were here, I came over to say hello."
When Tang Yi saw him, he sat up straighter and waved with a smile:
"Mr. Zhou is a rare guest. I thought you would be tied up with contracts until midnight tonight."
Gu Ming also dropped his previous nonchalant attitude and nodded: "Sit down."
As soon as Zhou Qingmo sat down, his gaze inadvertently swept over the red scarf on the sofa armrest. He paused, then turned to Xu Bozhou, teasingly remarking in a natural tone:
"It's rare to see you dressed so vibrantly."
Xu Bozhou looked up, his fingertip tracing a circle on the rim of his glass, his tone complex:
"It was a gift from Xiaoxiao, to bring good luck for National Day."
"Miss Su has excellent taste."
Zhou Qingmo smiled and looked at Xu Bozhou, his eyes revealing a hint of probing.
"Has Mr. Xu recently won the heart of his sweetheart?"
Xu Bozhou lowered his eyes, took a sip of wine, and didn't say anything.

The next day.
Su Xiao left work early and immediately saw the black sedan parked on the side of the road as she walked out of the company building.
"You don't need to see me off today."
Su Xiao walked to the car, bent down and knocked on the window. Looking at the handsome face behind the lowered window, she smiled.
"I'm going to the studio in a bit, I'll grab a coffee on the way."
Xu Bozhou's fingertips rested on the steering wheel, his gaze sweeping over her hand gripping the bag strap, and he frowned slightly.
"be safe."
He was initially a little dissatisfied, but when he thought of the scarf he received yesterday, his mood improved.
I'll pick you up from the studio later.
"good."
Su Xiao nodded, watching the car slowly drive away before letting out a sigh of relief. In a good mood, she turned and walked towards the coffee shop on the street corner.
She's going to get him a brooch today, so it's better to leave it as a surprise.
Warm light streamed through the glass windows of the coffee shop, and the aroma of coffee filled the air as soon as you opened the door.
Su Xiao ordered a sugar-free latte. Just as she took the cup from the barista, her phone suddenly rang in her pocket.
It was the Su family who called.
She walked to a corner outside the store and answered the call, her voice barely perceptible as she said, "Hello."
"Miss Su."
The voice on the other end of the phone was monotonous and indifferent:
"Next Monday is the old lady's birthday, and we're having a birthday banquet at home. She said she has to come back."
"I don't have time next week."
Su Xiao refused without even thinking.
She and the old lady had such a falling out, and now that she's being asked to go back, who knows what kind of bad intentions she's plotting.
She doesn't have the habit of jumping into pits.
"Miss Su had better think this through."
The butler's tone remained calm, yet carried a threatening undertone.
"The old lady said that if you don't come back, some things related to your mother might not be able to be kept."
"Mother's things?" Su Xiao's heart sank.
She clearly remembered that after her mother's suicide, the Su family and their men burned down everything in the house. How could this be...?
There was no further conversation on the other end of the phone; they were simply waiting for her reply.
Su Xiao gazed at the maple leaves falling in the distance, feeling a tightness and pain in her heart, as if something was blocking it.
She knew this was a scheme by the Su family, but she couldn't gamble with it.
If her mother really did leave something for her, she would get it no matter what.
That was the only thing her mother had left in the world, her Achilles' heel.
After a long silence, she finally spoke in a low voice, her tone full of helplessness: "I understand, I will be there on the birthday banquet day."
After hanging up the phone, Su Xiao stood there and sighed softly.
At worst, she can take Xu Bozhou back with her. Even if the Su family is incredibly audacious, what can they do to him?
