Jing Lu was dressed in bulky clothes, and he was exhausted after passing two checkpoints. He leaned against a big tree, panting, and said, "Second Brother, I can't run anymore."
He sat down leaning against a large tree, patting his heart. Just now, arrows had been attacked from all directions; he had tried to dodge them, but had still taken quite a few hits.
Fortunately, the arrows were treated and the piercing was sturdy, so Jing Lu wasn't riddled with thorns.
Jing Shuo was in bad shape. His armor wasn't as sturdy as Jing Lu's, and there were still areas where it didn't provide protection. He was hit by two shallow arrows in his hind leg and forearm.
He gritted his teeth, broke the arrow shaft, and tore a piece of cloth to stop the bleeding.
When Jing Shuo heard that Jing Lu was out of strength, he squinted and looked at the armor on Jing Lu's body, and thought he might want to borrow it.
“Jinglu, since you can’t run anymore, give your things to your second brother to use.”
Immediately, he stepped forward and took Jing Lu's things. Jing Lu was startled and struggled to protect himself: "Second brother, second brother, don't take it from me, I can still walk."
"Give it to Second Brother obediently," Jing Shuo took a liking to Jing Lu's knee pads and quickly pulled them off.
While Jing Lu was avoiding him, he turned and ran.
Jing Lu, not wanting to fall behind, got up and chased after him.
But after turning just one corner, he saw a lot of jagged rocks blocking the way, and Jing Shuo immediately felt that something was amiss.
“Second brother, give me the knee pads, I can give you something else. Those knee pads were made for me by my cousin Yutong,” Jinglu followed.
Jing Shuo dared not act rashly. Upon hearing that Jing Lu valued the knee pads, he turned and threw them into the stone formation.
"I'm sorry, third brother, second brother is injured and his hands are shaking. Why don't you go pick it up yourself?"
Jing Lu, bent over and covered in sweat, stopped in front of the stone formation. He snorted angrily, "Second Brother, you...you did this on purpose."
Jing Shuo teased, "Second brother is really injured. If you're worried, you don't have to pick it up. Anyway, your cousin Yu Tong can make you a new one."
"It's to let her know that you lost her things, so she won't even dare to pick them up, and who knows if she'll make them for you next time."
"You," Jing Lu was furious. He stared reluctantly at the black knee pads in the distance, and mustered his courage to straighten his spine to bolster his courage.
"I'll go, Second Brother. I'll definitely tell Father that you cheated."
As he spoke, Jing Lu cautiously stepped inside, and after a while there was no unusual movement. Jing Shuo carefully observed the places Jing Lu had stepped on, and he followed closely behind.
Just as they reached the halfway point, Jing Lu suddenly roared and turned to flee: "Poisonous snakes!"
Jing Shuo was concentrating on searching for Jing Lu's footprints when Jing Lu suddenly turned around and bumped into him, causing Jing Shuo to stumble to the side.
A rumbling sound immediately rang out, and many pieces of gravel flew towards Jing Shuo. Jing Shuo had difficulty dodging them and soon collapsed from exhaustion, only able to call for help intermittently.
But the danger didn't stop after he fell. A rock about half a person's height, which was unstable, fell sideways toward Jing Shuo.
Even after the stone landed, the people Jing Shuo had called couldn't save him; his face suddenly turned pale and he fainted.
Once all the noise subsided, Jinglu's worried voice rang out clearly: "Someone come and save Second Brother."
...
Jing Yan received the news not long after.
"Your Highness, something terrible has happened! The Second Prince is in trouble!"
