Yue Jiang murmured softly and heavily, her fair chin resting on Jing Yan's shoulder. Her misty eyes could only see the ripples in the pool, chasing forward in circles until they finally reached the edge of the pool.
Her voice was weak and seductive, soft and hesitant: "Your Highness, you've gone too far. I've already admitted my mistake, and you still..."
Jing Yan's deep breaths gently brushed against Yue Jiang's neck, and he could vaguely smell a faint, sweet fragrance, as tender and lingering as it was at that moment.
Hearing Yue Jiang's soft complaints, Jing Yan did not comfort her as usual. Instead, he felt a sense of satisfaction at this moment because he had been away for many days.
After a long while, he slowed down, turned Yue Jiang's cheek with one hand, and looked at her as she continued to moan.
Jing Yan teased, "With so little strength and ability, do you still dare to flirt with me so recklessly?"
Yue Jiang didn't understand Jing Yan's words for a moment. She snorted, "Well, it still managed to provoke His Highness, didn't it? Otherwise, why would His Highness be willing to put in the effort?"
"Your Highness, I'm hot. Please don't stay in the water. Please get out of the water."
At first, it was very comfortable in the water, but now Yuejiang can't stand it anymore.
Jingyan had had enough of splashing around in the water, and he wanted to get out, so he stopped, hugged Yuejiang, and walked to the edge of the pool to put her in a cashmere blanket.
Then he covered her again. Yue Jiang thought he would at least let her catch her breath, but he didn't expect it to happen again.
Looking up at the magnificent golden palace ceiling, she couldn't bear it any longer and grabbed Jing Yan's shoulders with both hands, complaining.
"Your Highness, you are always putting on airs. You don't like to come to my place, but when you do, you come one after another, not even giving me a chance to catch my breath."
Her complaint reminded Jing Yan of what Yue Jiang had said earlier: when he looked for her, all they did was have sex.
At this moment, he realized that Yue Jiang was absolutely right. Jing Yan slowly raised his head, met Yue Jiang's shimmering eyes, and felt a pang of pity.
"I will come to visit you often in the future."
Yue Jiang did not rejoice immediately, but hesitated for a moment and pondered.
Jing Yan noticed that Yue Jiang's expression was off and was about to ask her what she was thinking when Yue Jiang blurted out in disbelief.
"Your Highness, do you intend to come and have sex with me frequently just so that it won't happen often?"
Jing Yan: "..."
How could Yue Jiang not understand the meaning behind his words?
Jing Yan gritted his teeth, trying to calm himself down after accidentally choking: "Of course, I'll spend more time chatting with Jiang'er."
Yue Jiang's eyes lit up with a smile. She looked at him again, her tone smug: "Since we're just chatting, Your Highness should make it clear. You're making me misunderstand."
Jing Yan was utterly exhausted. Was it that he hadn't explained himself clearly, or that Yue Jiang hadn't thought things through?
***
At Jingshuo's bedside were Empress Dowager Cheng, Consort Cheng, and Cheng Suyun, who had come to the palace to visit Jingshuo.
Jing Lu also came to visit Jing Shuo. He stood in front of the bed, his face full of tears, and buried his head to explain.
"Second brother, I really don't know what happened back then. I don't know how I was fine when I left, but when I turned around I bumped into you and caused the accident. There really was a poisonous snake flicking its tongue at me. I was scared and that's why I wanted to run away."
Empress Dowager Cheng and Consort Cheng remained silent, and Cheng Suyun also lowered her head and kept quiet.
Jing Shuo's face was pale. He stared at Mo Qing's curtain with his eyes wide open. His expression was numb, and his words were full of self-mockery.
"Really? So it's just my bad luck, my stupidity, that I triggered the mechanism?"
With that, he sneered and glared angrily at Jing Lu: "Get lost!"
Jing Lu was startled by Jing Shuo's shout and stammered, not knowing what to do.
Empress Dowager Cheng stepped in to smooth things over, advising, "Alright, Lu'er, your second brother's leg injury is serious, and he's in a lot of pain. He said some unpleasant things, so go back first. Your grandmother knows you didn't mean it."
Jing Lu wiped away tears with emotion: "Grandma Cheng, please believe in your grandson. These days, because of my second brother's injury, I have been having nightmares and I really can't sleep well."
Empress Dowager Cheng nodded and smiled wryly, "I'm sorry to trouble you." She looked at Cheng Suyun and gestured, "Suyun, quickly send the Third Prince out."
Cheng Suyun knew that her great-aunt was trying to get rid of the Third Prince, so she smiled and dealt with her.
"Third Prince, Suyun will see you out."
Jing Lu was heartbroken and couldn't control himself. When Cheng Suyun said that, he nodded and followed her out.
Cheng Suyun offered simple words of comfort to Jing Lu along the way, and when it was time to part, Jing Lu humbly expressed his gratitude.
"Thank you for comforting me, Cousin Suyun. I hope you can also talk to my second brother. I really didn't mean to hurt him."
Cheng Suyun was stunned. She was very surprised: "Isn't it inappropriate for the Third Prince to call me cousin?"
Jing Lu said casually, "You are Grandma Cheng's grandniece, just like Cousin Yu Tong is Grandma Zheng's grandniece. We can naturally be considered siblings, so you are of course my cousin."
Since Cheng Suyun had always been in Yongshou Palace, all she had come into contact with was the bad stuff in Changshou Palace, so she didn't have much interaction with anything related to Changshou Palace.
I never expected Jing Lu to call her "cousin" so affectionately. No wonder His Majesty didn't punish him even a little bit this time.
They really don't seem like the kind of people who would do something underhanded. If the Crown Prince is also innocent, then perhaps Jing Shuo is truly in trouble.
While Cheng Suyun was in a daze, Jing Lu had already wiped away his tears and said goodbye.
"Cousin Suyun, this is enough. Don't bother seeing me off. I'll go by myself."
Cheng Suyun looked again and saw that Jing Lu had already descended the steps of the corridor. She couldn't help but call out, "Third Prince, please take care."
Jing Lu was very polite and turned to wave to Cheng Suyun: "I understand, Cousin Suyun."
When Cheng Suyun re-entered the hall, the atmosphere inside was very solemn, and she happened to overhear her great-aunt's words.
"How do you know it must be Jing Lu? Could it be that it was the Crown Prince's doing? He was the one who personally suggested joining the Xuanjia Army!"
Jing Shuo was seriously injured, and Empress Dowager Cheng and Consort Cheng were furious and wanted to seek justice for him.
