Chapter 131 Jing Yan Arrives

"Quickly, someone protect the Crown Princess!"

A moment later, Zheng Yutong, who was standing next to Yue Jiang, shouted, and the palace maids on the other side rushed towards Yue Jiang.

Seeing that they were about to surround Yue Jiang, Yue Jiang didn't have time to think. She quickly pulled out the gold hairpin from her head and started stabbing wildly at the people rushing up.

Qingke and Yuejiang's other two maids stood firmly in front of Yuejiang, pushing away anyone trying to squeeze forward while shouting for help.

As more and more people gathered, it became impossible to tell whether they were there to rescue people or to take advantage of the chaos to harm them.

Soon Yue Jiang and the others were forced to the railing, which only reached Yue Jiang's waist. If they were pushed by others, they could easily fall into the water.

The autumn air is cool, the water behind us is deep, and there are fake rocks that are partially visible in the water as part of the scenery. If you fall into the water, you will not only be caught in a cold, but you may also bump into the rocks.

Besides, Yuejiang might be pregnant.

As Yue Jiang dropped the hairpin and gripped the railing tightly to stop her swaying body from collapsing.

Zheng Yutong suddenly appeared out of nowhere and immediately tried to forcefully pry open Yue Jiang's hand.

"Give me your hand, Your Highness."

Zheng Yutong kept saying she wanted to pull Yue Jiang away, but Yue Jiang only felt pain from Zheng Yutong's constant pressure on the back of her hand.

The railing gradually became unstable, and suddenly Yue Jiang felt a lightness behind her as she fell backward.

The railing broke so suddenly that even Zheng Yutong was caught off guard and looked frightened.

At the last moment, Yue Jiang clung tightly to Zheng Yutong's right wrist. She was just one step away from falling into the water, and it was up to Zheng Yutong to risk his own safety and jump in with her.

Yue Jiang stared into Zheng Yutong's eyes and saw a mixture of conflict, hesitation, and finally, ruthlessness flash through them.

Yue Jiang watched as Zheng Yutong lost her strength and rushed towards her. The railing completely lost its protective function, and Yue Jiang's body was about to fall into the water.

The sudden danger kept pressing on her nerves, and Yue Jiang's senses faded very quickly. Before the tinnitus disappeared from her ears, she suddenly heard Jing Yan's faint voice.

"Jiang'er!"

Yue Jiang struggled to lift her eyelids, and in a flash, she saw Jing Yan leap from the shore and run towards her.

Just as she was about to fall into the water, she landed steadily in someone's arms, and then, in Jing Yan's embrace, she reached flat ground.

Although Yue Jiang clearly did not fall into the water, she was still splashed with a large amount of water.

The surrounding panic grew louder, because just after the railing broke, many people accidentally fell into the water, including Zheng Yutong, who was submerged.

The splashing water from the group of people soaked Yue Jiang and Jing Yan halfway. The two, having survived the ordeal, looked at each other, panting slightly.

"Jiang'er, are you alright?"

Jing Yan noticed that Yue Jiang's face was pale, her eyes were red, and although there was a lot of water on her face, he knew that some of it must be Yue Jiang's tears.

Yue Jiang was truly frightened. For a long time, she couldn't understand what Jing Yan was saying. She watched him open his mouth again and again, and after repeatedly observing the shape of Jing Yan's mouth, she finally understood what he meant.

Yue Jiang moved her hoarse voice, suppressing the tremor she herself didn't even notice, and shook her head: "It's alright, fortunately Your Highness arrived in time. It's just that, I don't think I could hear what Your Highness was saying very clearly."

"Your Highness, will I go deaf?"

When Yue Jiang said she couldn't hear anything, Jing Yan felt a sharp, piercing pain in his heart.

"No, I'll take you to see Shang Yu in a bit. He's a skilled doctor and can cure you."

He spoke slowly, each word a comforting utterance to Yue Jiang.

Even if Yue Jiang might not understand, Jing Yan was no longer willing to let her go.

Although Yue Jiang had tinnitus, her mind wasn't completely muddled; someone must have been plotting to harm her.

But in public, even if she fell into the water, rescuers would arrive as soon as possible, and the chances of her drowning would be slim. Why would anyone take such a risk for no reason?

"Your Highness, I wish to return to the Eastern Palace."

“Okay,” Jing Yan said, picking up Yue Jiang and turning to leave.

At this moment, Empress Ye hurriedly walked up to Yue Jiang and asked with concern, "Is Jiang'er alright?"

Jing Yan answered for Yue Jiang: "Jiang'er has tinnitus and can't hear for the time being."

Empress Dowager Zheng was hurriedly helped over and looked at the palace maids who had just been pulled out of the water, lying haphazardly on the ground, vomiting water.

While being restrained and treated, Zheng Yutong was annoyed that the Crown Prince had arrived at this time, otherwise Yue Jiang could have been one of them.

Before Empress Dowager Zheng could offer any suitable excuse, Jing Yan stopped his departure and said coldly.

“Grandmother, the palace servants in the Longevity Palace are really ignorant of the rules. If I were not here, the Crown Princess would fall into the water.”

"With such a grand procession from the Empress Dowager today, how could such an accident have occurred? How should this matter be resolved?"

Empress Dowager Zheng knew that once the matter was done, she would definitely investigate it thoroughly and demand a result.

She glanced around, slammed her cane down, and shouted sternly at the people in her palace: "Did you all hear that? The Crown Prince is asking me for the results. What exactly happened?"

As Empress Dowager Zheng finished speaking, the little palace maid who had been chasing the cat earlier, who was inconspicuous in the corner, crawled out on her knees, still holding the cat.

She kowtowed to the group of people and begged for mercy: "Your Majesty the Empress Dowager, spare my life! Your Highness the Crown Prince, spare my life! It was the little fox that suddenly ran wild and frightened people, almost harming the Crown Princess. This servant is guilty."

Empress Dowager Zheng scolded, "Fool! This little fox of mine has never seen a stranger before. Who told you to bring it out to attract attention at this time? Look at what you've done to this perfectly good flower-viewing banquet."

"Guards, drag this palace maid away and give her fifty lashes. Also, burn this cat."

Jing Yan: "Grandmother, why did you so easily draw conclusions and push all the blame onto a palace maid and a cat?"

Empress Dowager Zheng was displeased: "What are you saying? If you want results, I will give you results. This palace maid also said that it was my little cat who was frightened, and even Yutong accidentally fell into the water."
