Chapter 149 Ayan

"Your Highness, have you decided on a name for our child?"

Yue Jiang followed Jing Yan's gaze to her abdomen, her eyes filled with tenderness, and she silently thought about the child's name.

"I've thought of a few, and even had Rong Ying draft a few for me, but I feel like they're all missing something, so I haven't been able to make a decision yet," Jing Yan looked up and smiled, "Jiang'er, let's take a look and see which one is better."

So Jing Yan released Yue Jiang's waist, walked to the desk, picked up the wolf-hair brush from the brush holder, and began to write.

Jing Yan's wrist is strong, and his handwriting is vigorous, making a few simple characters exude a bold and magnificent aura.

Yue Jiang looked through them one by one, and the boys' names were all Yan Yu, Chen Xian, Xi An, Ming Zhao, and Xuan Jin.

The girls' names are all Jiayang, Nianzhao, Jingshu, Lingyun, and Shaoning.

After browsing through the words, Yue Jiang's hand unconsciously fell to her abdomen, a slight frown appearing between her brows, a feeling she couldn't quite describe: "They are all quite good words, but I also feel that something is missing."

Jing Yan: "That's right. Each character has a different meaning. It's as if giving a name to our child determines the child's character. I think that's too hasty, since we parents haven't even met the child yet."

The slight frown between Yue Jiang's brows dissipated, and she smiled, a smile tinged with amusement.

"Your Highness, you can't just not consider it now, and then wait until you see our child and have the God of Literature descend to earth and give him a name on the spot, can you?"

Jing Yan readily agreed: "It's not impossible. My name was chosen a month after I was born, when my father, the emperor, respectfully informed Heaven and our ancestors while discussing it with all the court officials."

“Yan,” Yue Jiang paced back and forth, savoring his name: “A gentleman is virtuous, a gentleman is dignified, loyal and filial, with the nation’s ambition in his heart, and is steadfast and resolute.”

“Ayan, His Highness’s name is very beautiful,” she turned around and exclaimed sincerely.

This was the first time Jing Yan had heard Yue Jiang call his name, and it was still the way she called it, with such a sweet and affectionate tone.

He was momentarily distracted, after all, Jingyan's father and mother often called him Yan'er, and on formal occasions they called him Crown Prince.

Those are all ways elders address their children, and their words contain expectations and affection for them.

The way Yuejiang is addressed is full of affection between men and women, not only for his affection but also for the unique admiration for his name.

"Your Highness, what's wrong?" Yue Jiang realized that Jing Yan was in a daze because she had called his name, after all, she had never called him that before.

It wasn't that she was afraid he wouldn't agree, but rather that Yue Jiang didn't want to waste all the novelty she had on Jing Yan.

Because she can create novelty with Jingyan with anything, but the ever-present novelty can easily make people tired.

Ideally, it should appear suddenly in the midst of ordinary days, making it unforgettable.

While Jing Yan remained silent, Yue Jiang took a few steps to his side, pretending not to know what had happened. She raised her hand to stroke Jing Yan's cheek and gently called to him.

"Ayan is such a lovely name! Please remember to give our child a name as beautiful as Ayan!"

The sweet scent of ginger lingered around Jing Yan's nose. Ever since she became pregnant, she had never taken off the purple jade pendant in her hand, and she had also used less incense.

In the past, all he could smell on Yue Jiang was a delicate and enchanting fragrance, or a rich and intense aroma.

The delicate, sweet scent still captivated Jingyan.

He silently wondered if it was entirely Yue Jiang's ulterior motives that made him unable to resist her when he fell for her.

No, it should be that he was deliberately condoning it.

"This is the first time I've heard Jiang'er call my name like this. It does sound pleasant to me. Could it be because Jiang'er's voice is so beautiful?"

Jing Yan deliberately kept everyone in suspense, as if pondering whether his name sounded better in its original form or better when Yue Jiang called it.

Yue Jiang lowered her long eyelashes as if in thought. After a long while, she asked doubtfully, "Could it be that I just call you that because it sounds nice?"

Jingyan: "What if it is? Jiang'er can shout it more often, and she'll know after shouting it a lot."

Yue Jiang smiled faintly, her hand that was covering Jing Yan's cheek slipped away, but it didn't go as he wished. She complained softly, "Always shouting, aren't you going to get a sore throat and die of thirst?"

Jing Yan let out a long sigh of relief, pulled Yue Jiang's hand back from her side, and led her to sit in his lap.

There was a hint of melancholy and self-mockery in his voice: "I can't leave, I can't touch, and Jiang'er keeps provoking me. I'm dying of thirst."

Jingyan had the construction of Xiande Hall delayed for three months. Although it was not yet three months, there were many important matters in the palace, and the New Year was approaching. According to the rules, no construction work could be carried out in the palace.

It will not be completed until March or April of next year.

Jing Yan has no chance to go back now, even if he wanted to.

Yue Jiang wrapped her arms around Jing Yan's neck, burying her face in his chest and suppressing a laugh: "Was Your Highness agitated?"

Jing Yan was annoyed: "How dare you ask?"

"Ayan, don't be angry, okay?" Yue Jiang's laughter subsided. She looked up to comfort Jing Yan, her fingers gently touching the corners of his mouth to bring a smile to his face.

Jing Yan felt a little helpless when he heard her continue calling his name in a soft, seductive voice, as if she was trying to coax him in a meaningful way.

He has once again personally given Yue Jiang a way to control herself.

Jing Yan was very dissatisfied and could no longer laugh. He grabbed Yue Jiang's hand and held it firmly in his palm.

His lips landed on Yue Jiang's lips, and the two intertwined their fingers. Yue Jiang did not show much surprise at this, but rather naturally responded to Jing Yan.

After a long while, the two separated a little. Yue Jiang breathed heavily, her watery eyes blinking as she looked at Jing Yan, her smile bright and radiant. She placed her fingertip on Jing Yan's lips.
