When Zheng Yutong opened the door, a chill ran from her feet to the top of her head, and her eyes were filled with terror.
She was clearly waiting for His Highness the Crown Prince, but it was Jing Shuo who came instead.
Just as she was about to close the door, Jing Shuo quickly gave a look to the people behind him, and two eunuchs immediately blocked the door to prevent Zheng Yutong from closing it.
Jing Shuo was also pushed in by another person in a wheelchair. As soon as he entered, Zheng Yutong staggered backward, her voice trembling slightly.
"Second Prince, I have wandered into this place by mistake. My great-aunt is waiting for me to enjoy the lanterns, so I must take my leave now."
Zheng Yutong walked towards the door with her head down, and Jing Shuo casually waved his hand, and the eunuch closed the door from the inside.
Jing Shuo glanced at Zheng Yutong's clothes, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
"You're dressed very much like your sister-in-law today. You usually call me 'my dear third brother cousin,' but you should be waiting for your elder brother, right?"
“Oh, you want to climb into your brother’s bed,” he bluntly stated Zheng Yutong’s intentions, then continued to mock, “Hey, does my good third brother, who is devoted to you, know about this?”
"I don't understand what the Second Prince is saying. This outfit was bestowed upon me by Her Majesty the Empress, not exclusively for the Crown Princess. Also, my third cousin and I are just cousins; we have no romantic relationship whatsoever."
Zheng Yutong clutched the hem of her dress tightly in her hand. She didn't know why, despite her meticulous arrangements and the fact that she was waiting for His Highness the Crown Prince, it was Jing Shuo who arrived instead.
But she couldn't admit to any of Jing Shuo's questions, otherwise, if it was confirmed that she had deliberately seduced His Highness the Crown Prince tonight, she would be finished.
At least after escaping, the imperial decree for her marriage to Jing Lu will be issued soon, and Zheng Yutong will still have the title of Crown Princess.
"Second Prince, I'm leaving. Tell your men to make way, or I'll tell my great-aunt and His Majesty," Zheng Yutong said, mustering her courage and bringing up someone that Jing Shuo would be wary of in an attempt to scare him away.
“Tell your great-aunt? Which great-aunt are you telling? The one from the Longevity Palace? That would be interesting, hahaha.”
Jing Shuo was amused by Zheng Yutong's feigned composure and became even more fearless, laughing loudly and making Zheng Yutong uneasy.
When Jing Shuo laughed too much, became dizzy, and coughed uncontrollably, he clapped his hands as if watching a joke, unable to refuse the warm hospitality.
"Tell me whatever you want. I'm also curious to know what you're planning to do tonight. Shall we go together?"
Jing Shuo really wanted to bring Zheng Yutong in front of everyone and let her tell her "grievances".
"Come on, didn't you want to complain? Wait until you tell Father and Grandmother why you secretly came here tonight, whether you were waiting for your brother, and prove that I wronged you."
"If you blame me, I will personally apologize to you."
Zheng Yutong never expected Jing Shuo to be so wicked. If she confessed to His Majesty, she would be condemned as having ulterior motives, even if she didn't die. She would be expelled from the palace.
Zheng Yutong was racking her brains for a solution when she inadvertently glanced at Jing Shuo's legs.
Jing Shuo immediately noticed Zheng Yutong's gaze. His suspicious mind returned, and he questioned her with a ferocious expression.
"What are you looking at? Are you laughing at me too?"
"I didn't, I want to leave," Jing Shuo suddenly snapped, and Zheng Yutong, terrified, rushed out without thinking.
However, Jing Shuo's eunuchs blocked her way tightly, and she couldn't break through no matter what she did.
Zheng Yutong cried for help repeatedly, and Jing Shuo roared even louder: "Throw her over here!"
With a forceful shove, Zheng Yutong fell into Jing Shuo's arms. Jing Shuo reeked of alcohol, and his breath was foul. Zheng Yutong couldn't stand it and kept retching.
"You like looking at my legs, don't you? I'll show you, I'll show you."
He frantically pulled up his pants, revealing large, gruesome scars.
Jing Shuo shouted, "I've forgotten all about it. Last time, Jing Lu was chasing me because of you. He treasured the knee pads you gave him and that's how I fell into your trap."
"That day in front of Yongshou Palace, it was because of you that he ridiculously promised me he wouldn't marry a girl from the Zhao family and asked me to forgive him. Did he want my pity?"
"Zheng Yutong, you really know how to provoke me. Did you run into me tonight to pay off Jinglu's debt?"
"I don't know, I don't know anything," Zheng Yutong said, her neck gripped tightly by Jing Shuo. The more she struggled, the tighter Jing Shuo gripped her.
All she could see were the mottled scars on Jing Shuo's legs. Each ugly pink scar was twisted and grotesque like a centipede, making Zheng Yutong want to vomit.
Just when she thought she was being strangled to death by Jing Shuo, a cold sensation suddenly touched her face.
Zheng Yutong glanced sideways and saw Jing Shuo holding the hairpin from her hair, as if he wanted to ruin her face.
Jing Shuo laughed wildly, gently stroking Zheng Yutong's chin with his hairpin: "Come on, I don't think you're leaving today. Jing Lu likes you, right? Then let him be sad too."
...
"Jiang'er, are you feeling better?"
In the left hall of Liushang Pavilion, Jing Yan took the pregnancy-stabilizing medicine that Yue Jiang had just finished drinking, his eyes never leaving the slightest change in her.
Yue Jiang changed into dry clothes, and her complexion improved a lot after drinking the medicine. She looked at Xiange beside her and gestured to Jing Yan.
"Your Highness, you should thank Miss Xiange, otherwise you would have been tricked into going somewhere else."
After Jing Yan went ashore, he followed the maid who had led the way to find Yue Jiang. On the way, he met Xiange leading Qing Fei out, and then realized that it was the maid who had led the way earlier who was tricking him.
Yue Jiang came from the side hall, not the rear hall of Liushang Pavilion.
Moreover, the wine was laced with medicine that could harm the fetus, which caused Yuejiang to miscarry.
"I will reward her," Jing Yan said anxiously, and asked carefully, "Tell me about yourself first?"
"I'm fine now, I just feel unwell from the alcohol," Yue Jiang replied with a reassuring smile.
Jing Yan was relieved to hear these words with his own ears. He turned around and glared coldly at the two kneeling palace maids.
"Who ordered it?"
