Chapter 255 An Chenghuan commits suicide

Yue Jiang instinctively tried to throw away the wedding silk in her hand, but An Chenghuan reached out and restrained Yue Jiang's wrist, preventing her from breaking free.

An Chenghuan turned to look at Yu Chuxuan, his tone unpleasant: "Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom, where are the reinforcements?"

"Your Majesty, I wish Princess Yuejiang to be safe and sound," Yu Chuxuan said, ignoring An Chenghuan's words and addressing An Yunrui as "Your Majesty," making his request.

An Yunrui stroked his beard with a kind smile and nodded in agreement: "If the Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom wants to help me, I will naturally help the Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom as well."

Seeing the two talking so enthusiastically, An Chenghuan gradually realized what was going on: "Yu Chuyi, you're lying to me!"

An Yunrui first said sternly, "You unfilial son, release Princess Yuejiang. Once I regain the throne and stabilize the court, I may consider being lenient with you."

“Stabilize the court? What ability do you have to stabilize the court? You’ve been causing trouble and rebelling against the country, while Jing Yan has already broken in,” An Chenghuan shouted angrily, his anger rising.

"Let go of me!" Yue Jiang's wrist was gripped even tighter by An Chenghuan in his sudden outburst of anger.

Yue Lang and Yu Chuxuan were extremely anxious.

Yu Chuxuan gave An Yunrui a look, and An Yunrui ordered his men to subdue An Chenghuan.

An Chenghuan was all alone, and three or five armored guards stepped forward defensively.

Yue Lang and Yu Chu Yi are eyeing him covetously.

An Yunrui waited to see him surrender.

With the situation hopeless, An Chenghuan gave a weak, cold laugh, his face devoid of any emotion. He slowly released Yue Jiang and said dejectedly.

"My time has come, Princess, you may leave."

Yue Jiang was surprised; she looked at An Chenghuan in disbelief.

An Chenghuan stopped looking at Yue Jiang, and Yue Lang quickly stepped forward and pulled Yue Jiang down.

Yu Chuxuan stepped forward and whispered to An Yunrui. Before long, he led Yue Lang and Yue Jiang out of the main hall.

Before the last trace of joyful red on Yue Jiang's face disappeared from the hall, An Chenghuan glanced at her indifferently, then confronted An Yunrui again and questioned her.

"Father's scheme this time has opened my eyes. Is there a plan to seize my throne without harming Anguo?"

"We can't rely entirely on Yu Chuyi, can we? These days I've been so busy suppressing the fabricated little prince that I haven't paid attention to Father."

He scanned the people around An Yunrui one by one. They didn't all seem to be civilians; some were originally military officers, so he must have secretly won them over.

An Yunrui was someone who gathered behind the scenes, hiding behind the young prince's fame, so that he could catch his son off guard. How could he possibly make a big fuss? He said smugly.

"Hmph, besides the Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom, I naturally have other capable people. The Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom has a grudge against Jing Yan. The Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom promised me that as long as I succeed in seizing the throne, he will help me deal with Jing Yan."

"The crisis you brought to Anguo can be resolved at any time."

An Chenghuan felt something was amiss and worried, "Your Majesty, I have also reached a cooperation agreement with the Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom, but so far no reinforcements from Yu Kingdom have arrived. How do you know the Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom is not lying to you?"

An Yunrui calmly took out the token that Yu Chuxuan had given him from his bosom: "The personal token of the Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom, he can't possibly deny it."

An Chenghuan stared at the token in An Yunrui's hand, wanting to go down and take it to verify its authenticity.

In the blink of an eye, another wave of news arrived from outside the palace.

"Report! The Jing Kingdom's army has made rapid advances this morning and has already entered the cities of An Kingdom. Jing Yan of Jing Kingdom has led a group of elite troops toward the capital."

"What?" Upon hearing this sudden news, An Yunrui was shocked and staggered, almost dropping the token in his hand.

An Chenghuan strode down and snatched the token from An Yunrui's hand. He examined it in his hand and burst into laughter after seeing it.

"Jing Yan also used the token of the Crown Prince of the Jade Kingdom. Where did you get this one?"

"Perhaps even this Crown Prince of Yu Kingdom is a fake. You've ruined the An Kingdom's future. The entire An Kingdom will become Jing Yan's subjugated slaves. Are you satisfied now?"

After he finished speaking, he pushed An Yunrui to the ground, but even that could not dispel An Chenghuan's resentment.

He could fail, An Yunrui could reclaim the throne, he could die a gruesome death, or he could be permanently imprisoned, but how could he destroy the An Kingdom's territory?

Gradually, An Chenghuan remembered An Jing's inexplicable national and personal hatred, and he had been raised by his grandfather for six years.

He knew that his grandfather, in order to obtain the throne of Anguo, conspired with Empress Dowager Zheng of Jingguo to deceive the former emperor of Jingguo.

Anguo's actions were seen by the world as cunning, treacherous, and disloyal, exploiting friendships to lure the empress dowager of another country.

They tricked the monarch of a country into coming to Anguo, took hostages, extorted gold and silver from Jingguo, demanded the city of Jingguo, and forced the former emperor of Jingguo to his death in the Anguo court, leaving Jingguo silent among the nations for forty years.

For An Chenghuan, his grandfather's methods back then were indeed cruel, heartless, and ruthless.

But he could not sympathize, nor could he admit his mistakes, because he was the Crown Prince of Anguo.

Compared to the devastating blow suffered by the Jing Kingdom, the Emperor's grandfather also encountered many difficulties after obtaining the An Kingdom.

The old nobles of Anguo, relying on their merit in supporting their grandfather, kept asking their grandfather for rewards and titles.

The emperor's grandfather was wary of their appetites, and soon after he ascended the throne, he plotted how to get rid of the stubborn old ministers.

Unfortunately, the Emperor Grandfather started to rely too much on their power, and those people's power also expanded and developed. Apart from showing some fear of the Emperor Grandfather, they were not afraid of anyone.

Even the emperor's father was raised by them and became a mediocre monarch who had no ambition. He didn't get rid of a single one of them until his grandfather passed away.

An Chenghuan grew up under the care of his grandfather. Unlike his father, who was taught by the Fu family from the beginning, he deeply cherished his grandfather's last wishes and was determined to eradicate the Fu family's faction.

However, the Fu family had been entrenched in Anguo for too long, resulting in a complex population and abundant wealth.
