Yue Jiang looked bewildered and innocent: "I watched it at night, and I didn't let anyone else watch. Oh well, Your Highness can learn it without a teacher and be so happy, while I can only suffer foolishly. Never mind, I'll put it away and not watch it anymore."
She walked a few steps to the table, removed the paperweight, closed the book, and casually placed it in a small drawer of the dressing table.
After dealing with it, Yue Jiang walked back to Jing Yan's side and spread her hands: "See, it's gone now."
Jing Yan: "..."
"It's getting late, let's go to sleep," Jing Yan thought to himself that there was no point in arguing with Yue Jiang about this, so it was best to get some rest.
Neither of them said anything more. Most of the lights in the bedchamber were turned off, with only a faint guiding lamp remaining.
After they got onto the bed together, Jingyan seemed to fall asleep, lying down and closing his eyes without moving.
Yue Jiang wasn't anxious. She lay down next to Jing Yan, breathing heavily and lightly. Jing Yan knew she wasn't asleep, but he remained unmoved, calmly closing his eyes.
"Jiang'er, let's not do anything tonight, go to sleep."
Jing Yan thought about it and decided that regardless of whether Yue Jiang was sincere or not, he had to restrain himself from her. Not being obsessed with beauty was a necessary requirement for a crown prince.
Yue Jiang was unusually quiet and didn't rush to speak. In the still night, only two soft, melancholy sighs could be heard from her voice.
Soon, Jing Yan felt the person next to him move, not closer to him, but turned their back and said a few words that left Jing Yan speechless.
"Your Highness, it is very cold to be alone in the room. I am actually spending my second night alone in the room after my marriage."
"It seems that in the long nights to come, even if I light a candle, I will not be able to wait for Your Highness."
Jing Yan suddenly opened his eyes: "What nonsense are you talking about? I'm sleeping right next to you." Sleeping next to you, what kind of empty room are you talking about?
Yue Jiang sighed again: "If my heart isn't in it, what difference does it make whether I'm lying next to you or not? I just feel so empty."
Jing Yan turned his head to look, and in the darkness of the night, he could only see Yue Jiang's flowing black hair cascading down her shoulders.
The person huddled up in a small ball, as if they were truly frozen and were curling up to keep warm.
Before he knew it, Jing Yan smelled that familiar, alluring fragrance again. Accompanied by Yue Jiang's occasional soft sighs, he felt a pang of reluctance.
Indeed, it's hard not to feel sad that he neglected her on the second night of their marriage.
Even if Jing Yan wanted to treat Yue Jiang with respect, he should at least make his respect for her clear, instead of letting her overthink things, otherwise she might develop resentment.
After considering it, he said in a low, husky voice, "You suffered so much at my hands last night, how about tonight?"
Yue Jiang didn't turn around, her voice weary and sorrowful: "Your Highness doesn't care about me. If I speak, it will only seem like I'm seeking pity. So be it, Your Highness, I need to rest now."
After speaking, she pulled the thin blanket over her shoulders, making it clear that she was about to go to sleep.
The couple's late-night conversation abruptly ended in Yue Jiang's weariness, and silence returned.
In the silence, Jing Yan lost all sleepiness, his mind filled with Yue Jiang's distressing words.
Yue Jiang's pent-up emotions overflowed, leaving Jing Yan's mind in turmoil. The preparations he had made before coming were instantly disrupted, and the suppressed desires within him began to take root and sprout.
Jing Yan had only been married for the first time and had only experienced one night of marital bliss. It was extremely difficult for him to immediately control himself and endure it like an ascetic.
Now, with Yue Jiang's heart in turmoil, Jing Yan could no longer bear the loneliness of the long, desolate night.
He would indulge himself for seven days. After that, he would not need to work diligently every night, and Yue Jiang would no longer be so sentimental.
Jing Yan turned around gently. At that moment, Yue Jiang felt Jing Yan's slightly panting breath, and a hand reached out to her from outside the thin blanket.
An arm turned her body around, and soon a huge sense of pressure appeared on her.
Yue Jiang mumbled wearily, "Your Highness, I've lost interest and don't want to."
“Jiang’er, you said the same thing last night,” Jing Yan said, seeing through her words, and then began to undress.
Yue Jiang wanted to play hard to get, but Jing Yan had already stripped her clothes off.
Her chest was the first area to be covered by clothing, and she was completely naked. When Jing Yan's fingers touched that area, she immediately felt a tingling, trembling sensation.
Yue Jiang couldn't help but let out a soft moan, afraid that he would lose control again, and pleaded softly, "Your Highness, please be gentle."
Yue Jiang was tense all over. She thought Jing Yan would still be reckless, but this time he wasn't domineering.
Jing Yan's voice was even hoarse, carrying a tone of comfort mixed with ambiguous probing: "I just wanted to see if you were alright, Jiang'er. You have a fragrance about you, a fragrance that makes me lose control."
Jing Yan's hand gradually covered Yue Jiang's palm, then he seized her hand tightly, until he held her soft hand firmly in his grasp.
Yue Jiang was not afraid of being suspected by him at this moment. She held Jing Yan's hand tightly and turned the tables on him.
"I am a woman, and a beautiful one at that. So what if I have a natural fragrance? It's clearly Your Highness who's being hypocritical and insists on blaming it on me."
"Really!" Jing Yan leaned down and sniffed again. The fragrance on Yue Jiang's clothes was indeed different from her natural body scent. Even if she had intentionally been exposed to it beforehand, it shouldn't be entirely on her body. It really did smell like a natural body fragrance.
However, this smell made him even more reckless in his actions, and Jing Yan deeply realized that he was really being a bit of a hypocrite.
He clearly had these thoughts in his mind.
"Jiang'er is indeed a beautiful young lady," Jing Yan said, bringing his lips to Yue Jiang's ear. The lingering kiss, mixed with his affectionate words, made Jing Yan even more engrossed.
The moonlight came out again without them noticing, casting their faint, cold shadows on the top of the tent.
Yue Jiang could see Jing Yan standing above her; he was tall and upright, with a strong chest and a powerful aura.
