Chapter 76 I want Your Highness to let me hear your nonsense

Jing Yan's heart skipped a beat at Yue Jiang's familiar hum, but he kept a straight face and glanced around.

Fortunately, the two of them wanted to talk, so they asked the palace servants who came with them to keep their distance, and Yue Jiang's voice was not overheard.

Jing Yan didn't mean it; he just suddenly clenched his fist. He slowly relaxed his hand and stopped running away. He gently stroked Yue Jiang's hand with his fingers, as if to express his comfort.

"I didn't mean it, and Jiang'er shouldn't talk nonsense!"

Yue Jiang said helplessly, "Your Highness suddenly grabbed me, and it hurt a lot. What nonsense are you talking about? Doesn't Your Highness care about what you're thinking?"

She replied perfunctorily, not giving Jing Yan any chance to interject: "Alright, alright, I will listen to Your Highness and not speak nonsense."

Finally, Yue Jiang whispered meaningfully, "Since I have listened to Your Highness's words, Your Highness must also listen to me tonight. I want Your Highness to listen to my nonsense."

Jing Yan: "..."

He suddenly turned around, staring blankly at Yue Jiang, as if silently asking what she meant.

Yue Jiang shyly raised her other wrist to cover her face, and said in a serious tone, "Your Highness, even if I am your Crown Princess, you cannot stare at me like this outside. I will be embarrassed."

Jing Yan: "..."

He didn't know if Yue Jiang was ashamed or not, but Yue Jiang must have come up with a new trick tonight.

There are only four nights left; he shouldn't spoil the fun.

...

Yue Jiang and Jing Yan went to Jiaofang Palace to pay their respects to Empress Ye. Empress Ye was overjoyed to see her son and daughter-in-law together.

"Yan'er and Jiang'er are here!"

"Mother/Mother," the two greeted Empress Ye together.

After paying her respects, Empress Ye pulled Yue Jiang forward and asked, "Jiang'er, were you tired on the way here?"

Yue Jiang smiled and shook her head: "Reporting to Mother, Jiang'er is not tired. Jiang'er sat in the sedan chair the whole way and did not walk more than a few steps."

Upon hearing Yue Jiang's words, Empress Ye seemed to get into the conversation, glancing at Jing Yan and Yue Jiang as she spoke.

"Before you arrived, I told Yan'er that Jiang'er usually comes around this time and will be here soon. Before I could finish talking, Yan'er said she was going to go out to meet you."

"But he's been waiting for you, otherwise he would have thought I was lying to him."

"Mother, I dare not," Jingyan knew that his mother was doing it on purpose, trying to amuse Yuejiang on behalf of her clueless son.

Because he had asked his mother for a favor beforehand, and for the sake of the thing in his arms, Jing Yan could only silently accept the "crime" his mother had pinned on him.

He glanced at Yue Jiang unintentionally and noticed that she sat dignified and proper, and spoke honestly, answering questions one by one. She was nothing like the bold and uninhibited person she was when she was alone with him.

For some reason, Jing Yan felt like laughing.

Jingyi didn't go to Yongshou Palace today. Watching her mother, imperial brother, and Yuejiang chatting and laughing, she was completely ignored.

Suddenly she slammed her hand on the table, gave a soft hum, and stood up: "I'm going to Yongshou Palace to play with my cousin Suyun."

Empress Ye: "We're about to go to Delin Palace. There won't be enough time to make another trip. Jiang'er isn't much older than you, and there are other palace maids your age."

"Stop going to Yongshou Palace all the time. Suyun is of marriageable age. Do you expect her to follow you out of the palace after she leaves?"

Jingyi disagreed: "Whoever Cousin Suyun marries after leaving the palace, she should marry..."

"Bang!" Jing Yan slammed his hand on the table, startling Jing Yi into swallowing her words.

Jingyan glanced at the stool under Jingyi, and Jingyi wisely sat down in silence.

Before sitting down, she still glanced at Jing Yan, not giving up. She didn't see her brother glaring at her, but it was even more frightening that he didn't speak or look at her.

It's so agonizing. In the past, my elder brother spent most of his time on court affairs and military matters, but now that he's married, he appears in the palace from time to time, right in front of her.

If Jingyi hadn't been detained, she would have gone to Yongshou Palace to play long ago.

Finally, I looked at Yue Jiang again. It's all Yue Jiang's fault, but why isn't Yue Jiang afraid of her brother?

She had made up her mind that she would definitely take some time to visit the East Palace and see how Yue Jiang and her brother, the Emperor, got along there.

...

After people entered Delin Hall one after another, Yue Jiang and Jing Yan arrived early and sat down at the table, while some who arrived late also took their seats one after another.

Empress Dowager Zheng and Empress Dowager Cheng arrived at the same time and took their seats, one on the left and one on the right.

Suddenly, Empress Dowager Zheng gave Zheng Yutong a look. Zheng Yutong lowered her eyes shyly, walked gracefully to Jing Yan, and gave a gentle curtsy.

"Cousin, the Crown Prince."

Empress Dowager Cheng, having learned that Jing Yan had no intention of letting Cheng Suyun enter the Eastern Palace, was temporarily unable to find a way to break the deadlock.

However, not wanting to be outdone by Empress Dowager Zheng, he stirred things up by having Cheng Suyun also go and say hello.

Cheng Suyun, being a princess, raised an eyebrow and glared at Zheng Yutong when she arrived. Zheng Yutong glanced at Jing Yan, and seeing that he made no move, timidly stepped aside.

Having secured Zheng Yutong's position, Cheng Suyun smiled with barely concealed smugness: "Crown Prince Cousin."

Seeing Cheng Suyun's arrogance, Empress Dowager Zheng called out to Yutong and left.

Empress Dowager Cheng called out to Suyun in a low voice. Cheng Suyun glanced at Jingyan with longing in her eyes, curtsied, and took her leave: "Suyun will take her leave now."

Only when things were quiet before Yue Jiang and Jing Yan did Yue Jiang chuckle softly, her voice full of meaning: "Your Highness, do you see? It is I who love you wholeheartedly."

Jing Yan looked like he was seeking an answer: "How do you know?"

Yue Jiang: "They all hated each other first, and then fell in love with Your Highness. I only love Your Highness."

“I don’t think so,” Jing Yan shook his head slightly. He felt it didn’t matter to those two people, it was none of his business anyway.

Yue Jiang, who didn't believe it, thought that she loved him for something else, and that she should "love him" for other reasons.

“If Your Highness doesn’t believe me, then so be it,” Yue Jiang said, slightly dejected. As she poured wine for Jing Yan and offered it to him, she whispered, “I will make Your Highness believe me tonight. Your Highness, please come early.”
