Chapter 8: She's not even married yet, and she's already finding a mistress for Jing Yan?

Jing State led its troops to attack Feng State, and Feng State suffered repeated defeats, seemingly on the verge of collapse.

But Feng Guo was treacherous, and when his forces were outnumbered, An Guo refused to send troops to his aid.

Feng then spread rumors that Jing Yan had taken a fancy to the most beautiful princess in Feng's clan, but this princess had already been betrothed to An Chenghuan, the crown prince of An. Jing, unable to obtain her, led his troops to attack Feng and seize her.

In reality, this was a provocation tactic by Feng Guo to humiliate Jing Yan's reputation and force An Guo to send troops to his aid.

Unfortunately, all countries know the irreconcilable hatred between Jing and Feng, so this mudslinging won't really humiliate them much.

Anguo also announced the important matter of the marriage alliance with Yueguo to the six kingdoms.

Feng Guo's schemes have become a joke, and he can only wait in despair for Jing Yan to destroy Feng Guo.

The fact that Princess Feng is using the rumors spread by her motherland as a reason shows how the Feng family, after betraying the Jing Kingdom and establishing their own power, revised the national history to whitewash the country they gained through betrayal, thus brainwashing their descendants to this extent.

This suggests that the national histories of various countries are compiled in a rather subjective way. For example, Yue Jiang's Yue Kingdom sings praises of how good her ancestors were at business.

How to obtain a country recognized by five nations through business dealings, while maintaining an unambiguous and truthful record of the history of other countries.

In the past, after the fall of a country, the victorious country would usually take in some of the people who had lost their country. However, the Feng family had too much enmity with the Jing country, and it was already considered merciful of them to spare the lives of the elderly, weak, women and children.

Feng Shi took advantage of Princess Feng's reputation, and she, full of enthusiasm and clinging to the idea that Jing Yan liked her, foolishly sacrificed herself to ensure the safety of the Feng family's women and children. It was both pitiful and laughable.

While Yue Jiang was lost in thought, Princess Feng, inspired by something, suddenly stood up from the ground.

A smile appeared on her face as she watched the rising steam behind a screen. She undressed and walked forward.

“Jingyan, stop being hypocritical. As long as you release the women and children of the Feng family, I will give myself to you.”

Yue Jiang intended to continue eavesdropping by the tub, but was caught off guard to find the footsteps getting closer and closer. She was inside the tub and didn't know where to hide.

"Your Highness," Yue Jiang called out anxiously. Princess Feng's behavior was strange, as if she was eager to offer herself up. She dared not be so open with her when she was completely unprepared.

Princess Feng's expression suddenly froze, startled by the soft female voice inside. The sash of her prison uniform got tangled between her fingers, neither moving up nor down.

Princess Feng turned around and stared at Jing Yan in disbelief. Her motherland had clearly said that Jing Yan was madly infatuated with her, so how could there be other women?

Isn't she the one Jingyan is waiting for tonight?

Jing Yan was irritable, his brows furrowed, and after a month, Princess Feng became increasingly insane.

His sneer rang out again: "Princess Feng, the Feng family colluded with Anguo to betray Jingguo for their own selfish desires. How could I tolerate you? I attacked the Feng family only to avenge our shame and eliminate the treacherous officials, not for personal feelings."

“I don’t even know your maiden name, and I have never seen you before. I attacked the Feng clan because I couldn’t stand you. You were just being used by your Feng clan members. I’ve told you a thousand times, but you still don’t believe me.”

“I have slaughtered all the men of the Feng clan. They were traitors, and the crime of treason brings disaster to their descendants. They deserve to die.”

Jing Yan has never acknowledged the term "Feng Kingdom"; to him, it was merely a group of traitors.

"I spared the women and children of the Feng family, only because they were women and children and should not bear the full burden of the disaster of the past. However, they also enjoyed forty years of luxury and should repay the debt."

"I will send you to Jishan to mine with those people. Your life or death will be up to fate, as atonement for your sins."

Treating these people with leniency is already the greatest mercy Jing Yan can show. There is absolutely no way he would invite them back to Jing Kingdom and use the wealth of the people of Jing Kingdom to support the surrendered royal family of another country.

Over the years, men and women, young and old, of Jingguo have suffered a great deal, and the Feng family should taste the bitterness they once endured.

"Who is she?" Princess Feng's ears seemed to ring, and she didn't hear what was said before at all; her voice trembled.

"The Crown Princess whom I am about to marry," Jing Yan said truthfully.

Although Princess Feng could not accept marrying Jing Yan for the sake of her clan, she seemed even more unable to accept that Jing Yan had fallen in love with someone else.

"Actually, you know what I want most. Why don't you tell me where the Jing Kingdom's silver that the Feng family has embezzled over the years is? Perhaps I can make things easier for you in Jishan."

Back then, Jing Kingdom had to pay tribute to An Kingdom every year, and the person who facilitated this connection was the Feng family.

The Feng family then relied on Anguo to also seek wealth from Jingguo. In forty years, the Feng family had eight million taels of silver from Jingguo.

However, when Jing Yan stormed into the Feng family's treasury, he found very little silver inside. After interrogating several eunuchs guarding the treasury, they said that the Feng family had moved the money beforehand.

All the men of the Feng family died, leaving only the women and children of the Feng family with a glimmer of hope.

Jing Yan did send people to interrogate them, but unfortunately, those women and children of the Feng family were disciplined too harshly by the Feng family and harbored too much hatred for the Jing Kingdom. They either could not withstand the torture or cried out to die for their country.

He feared that anyone who knew where the money had gone would die, so he stopped pressuring them.

The Princess Feng before them was a junior member of the Feng family, and the Feng family had used her reputation as a guise to influence a crowd. Even she herself thought that Jing Yan was in love with her, and perhaps she knew where the money went.

Princess Feng was deeply hurt. She did know where the money was, because it was the money her father and brothers had hidden.

Her father and brothers told her that she could only speak if Jing Yan was willing to accept her and would spare the lives of the Feng family women and children.

It turns out that Jing Yan's feelings for her were never unrequited; money was what he truly desired.

Unfortunately, Princess Feng was unwilling to speak out at the moment, and instead harbored a secret jealousy towards the woman behind the screen.

She defiantly said, "Why should I tell you that you are not even willing to treat my Feng family well, so why should I grant your wish?"

“Then go mine. Rong Ying, drag the man out,” Jing Yan said coldly.
