Chapter 44 Peng Yuanyuan's First Imprisonment

Peng Yuanyuan never imagined that she would one day find herself in the interrogation room of the Anding Division.

And this first time in his life, he was sitting in the suspect's seat with his hands in metal shackles, being interrogated.

When she arrived, although it was an acquaintance, Li Nan, who knocked on the door, her face darkened after she entered and said, "Take her away," and she didn't say another word.

On the way, I sat in the back of the special police car of the An Ding Division, and the two expressionless policemen in blue uniforms who accompanied me did not say a word the whole time.

Even after she was taken to the interrogation room and handcuffed with special table and chair shackles, she still didn't know what she had done wrong.

After sitting in the interrogation room for about half an hour, Peng Yuanyuan's stomach was growling with hunger when the interrogation room door finally opened.

The man and woman who came in were the two police officers who had questioned him at the hospital last time.

Why didn't Li Nan show up? Peng Yuanyuan wondered to herself.

After the two police officers sat down, the man in the blue shirt said, "Peng Yuanyuan, you know our Captain Li. To avoid suspicion, he won't be involved in this interrogation. But as his acquaintance and friend, we hope you will tell the truth honestly, so as not to make things difficult for us or Captain Li."

"Officer, could you please tell me why I'm here?"

The policewoman sitting on the right chuckled, "Alright, let's get straight to the point. Tell us about you and Zhang Qiqi."

"Zhang Qiqi? Who's that?" Peng Yuanyuan wondered. Who is Zhang Qiqi? I don't know this person.

During the last hospital visit, Ma Jie was already disgusted by Peng Yuanyuan's constant lies. This time, with her doing the same thing again, Ma Jie's mood instantly soured.

"You don't recognize the woman who lives in Building 38?" Ma Jie handed over a tablet, which displayed artistic photos of Zhang Qiqi provided by Peng Zhengguo.

“We’ve already learned that you and Zhang Qiqi have a very bad relationship in the Lakeside Moonlight residential complex. Many residents can testify to this; you two argue almost every time you meet. Now, do you remember?”

Upon seeing the photo, Peng Yuanyuan immediately understood. "Oh, it's her! Of course I know this mistress. People like her just lower the average quality of our country. They're just wasting air!"

Upon seeing Zhang Qiqi's photo, Peng Yuanyuan naturally recalled that it was precisely because of her foul language that day that Octopus failed to sign a contract with Qingyu.

That damn mistress, she really deserves to die!

Peng Yuanyuan cursed Zhang Qiqi in her heart, but Li Na's next words stunned her.

"So you killed her, and in such a cruel way?"

After saying that, Li Na silently added in her mind, "No wonder he draws such bizarre comics!"

Ever since receiving the call from Octopus refusing to sign the contract on the afternoon of the 7th, Qingyu has been sullen and staying at home, brooding.

Peng Yuanyuan has always ordered takeout for both meals and has never left her home. She was completely unaware of the terrible incident that occurred in her neighborhood yesterday at noon.

Just now, when Li Nan knocked on the door, he thought it was the food delivery. He was praising the delivery guy for being so efficient today, saying that he had just placed the order and the delivery guy had brought it to his door.

Little did he know that when he opened the door, he would not be greeted with a delicious dinner, but with a pair of cold handcuffs.

When Peng Yuanyuan first heard that Zhang Qiqi was dead, she was shocked. "What? That mistress is dead?"

Only then did Peng Yuanyuan realize why she had been arrested and brought here today.

"No way, you guys don't think I killed her, do you?"

"Isn't that right?" Ma Jie could no longer stand this turtle pretending to be stupid and slammed his hand on the table.

“Peng Yuanyuan, you need to know that confession leads to leniency, while resistance leads to severity. Although you have committed a capital offense, if you show a better attitude in admitting your guilt, you will be treated a little better in prison!”

With the sound of the gavel, the timid Qingyu could no longer bear it. Her eyes darkened, and she retreated to the sidelines.

The fiery and impulsive Maria stepped in just in time, and Peng Yuanyuan's eyes instantly regained their sparkle. She glared at Ma Jie and shouted, "Just because I couldn't stand the mistress and cursed her twice, you're blaming me for her death? So An Dingsi also likes to make false accusations. If I don't admit it later, are you going to torture me into confessing?"

Maria's momentum subtly overshadowed that of Marjlina.

Li Nan, sitting in front of the monitor outside, shook her head and thought to herself, "This unpredictable mood is just like Sister Peng back then!"

Seeing Ma Jie's discomfiture, Li Na coughed lightly and said softly, "Since that's the case, then tell me, what did you do when you went out on the afternoon of the 7th?"

Maria shrugged her shoulders and stretched her body slightly.

"Around 2 p.m. on the 7th, I received a call from Octopus Media Company. They told me that someone wanted to invest in my comic and make it into a web series. Qingyu, well, of course I was happy to go, so I went out and took a taxi there."

Ma Jie astutely seized upon a detail and asked, "Don't you have a car parked in your basement? Why didn't you drive there instead of walking so far to take a taxi?"

Maria was unwilling to reveal her split personality and could only lie, saying, "I was too excited at the time and forgot for a moment."

Ma Jie chuckled; that was a really bad excuse.

"And then what? We checked the surveillance footage. You received the call around 2 PM, and you had already arrived at Building 38 by 2:28 PM. Why didn't you reach the entrance of the community until 3:11 PM? What did you do during that long time between Building 38 and the entrance?"

Maria thought to herself, "Anseiji is amazing. He knows exactly what time I left home and where I am."

Since that's the case, they should already know that I accompanied Grandma Yang to look for the dog, so why ask such an unnecessary question?
