Chapter 66 Gao Siming is my older brother

April 7, 4224, weekend, Lakeside Moonlight Community, Moonlight Lake.

Gao Siming, leaning on his cane, walked slowly beside Li Nan. Although it was the same walking, the cerebellar ataxia caused by DSTH was still clearly affected. Gao Siming's limping gait was very similar to that of a polio patient.

Out of the corner of her eye, Li Nan still felt a pang of heartache. "Was what I did a bit too much?"

Gao Siming walked for a while, looking a bit tired. He put his right hand on Li Nan's left shoulder and said, "Hey Li, you've taken the wrong medicine today. Why did you have to bring me to admire this stagnant lake in the neighborhood?"

Li Nan quickly used a lame excuse to cover up her panic, "Brother Gao, the doctor said you need to go out more often; it's not good to always stay at home!"

"I have a treadmill, and I can walk 10,000 steps a day at home!"

"Actually, I haven't seen Moonlight Lake in your neighborhood yet, I'd like to see it!"

"Don't you have legs? Can't you do it yourself?"

After resting for a while, the two continued on their way. Li Nan helped Gao Siming down the steps and they arrived at the railing of Moonlight Lake.

Looking at the calm, slightly gray lake in front of her, Li Nan sighed, "It really is a stagnant lake. The water is all gray, and the property management doesn't even bother to take care of it."

Gao Siming laughed, "You're such an idiot! Have you ever calculated how much it costs to change the lake water? These property management companies don't even bother to fix the basement security cameras, so they can't be bothered with this insignificant lake water!"

"At least the lake is visible; you can see it as soon as you enter the residential area. Don't they care about it?"

"The economy has been bad for the past two years, and no one is buying the remaining houses in the community. The property management company is broke, so they don't have the time or inclination to take care of these things!"

“That’s true!” Li Nan replied, turning his back to the lake and leaning against the white wooden railing.

"I wish I hadn't come out. The lake is stagnant, and the crabapple blossoms along the shore have all withered!"

"Yes, you're late. If it were before International Women's Day, the crabapple blossoms in the neighborhood would have been quite a sight, but now all that's left are the leaves!"

The two continued their awkward, half-hearted conversation. Taking advantage of Gao Siming's inattention, Li Nan leaned back forcefully, and the wooden railing, seemingly in disrepair, made a crisp sound.

"Smack!"

"Thump!"

After the crisp sound of the fence breaking, Li Nan fell directly into the lake with his back to the water.

Although Moonlight Lake is an artificial lake, its designed depth is nearly three meters!

Seeing Li Nan fall into the lake, Gao Siming didn't hesitate at all. He threw away his crutches and jumped into the lake.

In early April, when the lake water was icy cold, Gao Siming seemed to suddenly remember a serious problem.

"Damn, I don't think I can swim!"

Although Li Nan entered the water facing away from it, the first thing he did upon hitting the lake was to leap into the water, dive down, and then make a right-angle turn to surface.

Just as they emerged from the water, Li Nan was startled to see Gao Siming's mutilated body leap into the water.

In his plan, he simply arranged for himself to "accidentally fall into the water" so that he could observe Gao Siming's reaction in the water and see if Gao Siming was faking his disability.

He never expected that Gao Siming would disregard everything and jump into the lake immediately.

What happened next made Li Nan feel even more heartbroken.

Gao Siming, who jumped into the lake, did not swim towards him. Instead, he blew out a few bubbles and struggled to sink into the water.

"Damn, can't Brother Gao swim?"

In a moment of panic, Li Nan quickly swam forward towards the spot where Gao Siming had fallen into the water.

One of Li Nan's only interests since childhood was swimming. When he was a child, the small river near the cherry blossom city was Li Nan's playground on weekends.

Back then, Li Nan was a loner, and he could only feel safe for a moment when he was alone underwater.

However, during the years I knew Gao Siming, I don't think I ever invited him to go swimming together. Our conversations seemed to intentionally or unintentionally avoid the topic of swimming.

Therefore, to this day, Li Nan is unaware that Gao Siming cannot swim, and Gao Siming is naturally unaware of Li Nan's prowess in swimming.

Li Nan was a skilled swimmer and pulled Gao Siming, who was struggling in the water, to the shore with little effort.

The lake water dampened Li Nan's face, concealing the tears in her eyes. Seeing Gao Siming lying on the ground vomiting water, Li Nan felt even more pain in her heart.

I'm such an idiot! What kind of terrible idea is this?!

"Brother Gao, are you alright?" Li Nan patted Gao Siming's back, feeling guilty and ashamed.

"No, it's nothing. I was in such a rush that I forgot I can't swim!"

Gao Siming felt better after vomiting and lay down on the ground. "You scared me to death! How could you be so careless!"

Looking at the broken wooden fence, Gao Siming said angrily, "These property management companies are so irresponsible. They don't even bother to maintain the fence regularly."

After saying that, he turned to look at Li Nan and said, "Luckily you can swim, otherwise it would have been dangerous today!"

Li Nan chuckled but didn't dare to reply.

Around the corner not far away, the property manager saw that both of them were unharmed and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. "Are the Anti-Danger Division officers working this relentlessly these days? By the way, could the owner of apartment 103 be involved in something? Never mind, never mind, this isn't my fault, it was all Officer Li's idea!"

The supervisor cautiously peeked out again. "Wait a minute, Officer Li has already carried the resident away. He should be fine, right? He'll be alright!"

On the way home, Li Nan asked with a heavy heart, "Brother Gao, you clearly can't swim, why did you jump in?"

Gao Siming, on his back, replied nonchalantly, "Li Shazi, you're my brother. How could I ignore you when you fell into the water?"
