Chapter 22 Does He Have a Boyfriend?
Yu Wu nervously added Cheng Yi on WeChat and sent him the new plan.
A short while later, he called me on his own initiative.
Yu Wu mentally prepared herself, took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and accepted the answer.
"Yu Wu?" A deep, magnetic voice resonated in her ears, causing Yu Wu's heart to flutter.
"Mr. Cheng, I'm here."
"Hmm." He hummed in response and fell silent, the sound of papers turning could be heard.
"Come to my office now, and I'll explain it to you personally."
Yu Wu checked the time; it was already nine o'clock at night.
There was no other way; it was the client's demand—an S+ project, and it was still that guy's demand—so Yu Wu agreed.
When I arrived at the elevator downstairs in the company building, a well-dressed, elite gentleman was waiting for me. He introduced himself as Cheng Yi's special assistant, Mu Su.
Yu Wu quickly tried to get closer to him, "Is your CEO Cheng usually easy to talk to? What kind of work style does he usually prefer?"
Special Assistant Mu Su only gave a faint, polite smile, revealing not a single word.
Having no other choice, Yu Wu could only nervously board the elevator.
The elevator doors opened with a ding, and Yu Wu arrived at the CEO's office.
Mu Su welcomed Yu Wu inside, then left quietly.
Wow, the office is huge, exuding understated luxury. There's a massive floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the dazzling night view of Nanhai City.
Cheng Yi was working with his head down. Some people just have that kind of aura; he alone can fill the entire office. You can even feel an invisible sense of spatial oppression just by looking at him.
"President Cheng," Yu Wu greeted him, handing over the project proposal. "This is our project proposal. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have."
He slowly put down his pen, lifted his eyelids, and glanced calmly at Yu Wu, his eyes carrying the sharp composure of someone working. He took the project proposal and slowly began to read it.
His expression was always indifferent, which made him seem even more aloof.
The air was extremely quiet.
Yu Wu didn't know why, but she always felt nervous in front of him, and her whole body trembled uncomfortably.
The waiting time was so boring that she secretly glanced at him a few times during the breaks.
His aura is completely different from Ke Yanchen's.
Ke Yanchen's face was filled with arrogance and disdain, making him difficult to approach.
Cheng Yi rarely showed emotional fluctuations; his calm exterior concealed a terrifying undercurrent. He possessed a powerful, sinister aura, exuding an aloof and insulated presence that made him impossible to approach unless one chose to do so.
God is so unfair; how come this scoundrel also has such a beautiful appearance?
He didn't know how much time had passed; it felt like an eternity. Finally, he lifted his eyelids and glanced over. His gaze was like a sharp, icy blade, carving into Yu Wu's heart, one cut at a time.
"Is this the project proposal you've redone?" he asked in a calm tone.
"Yes."
He scoffed dismissively, stood up, his tall, slender figure like a black wall, pointed at the project proposal with his fingertip, and said in a cold, indifferent tone: "Rework everything."
This world may seem to be equal for all beings, but in reality, the powerful stand in another dimension, looking down on everyone and manipulating the rules.
Just like Cheng Yi, his innate arrogance makes him haughty and contemptuous, and he can easily make a team work themselves to the bone to cater to his "ruthless" behavior.
Yu Wu had never seen such an arrogant client. A complete redo meant all the hard work from those all-nighters would be wasted! Even if this version of the project proposal had problems, it definitely didn't warrant a complete rewrite.
Yu Wu's mind went blank for a few seconds before she tried to swallow the boiling anger in her heart.
"Any objections?" Cheng Yi's gaze swept over them indifferently.
Yu Wu gritted her teeth and forced a smile: "No problem, we'll go back and revise it."
He frowned and hummed in agreement: "Let's go back."
Yu Wu could only swallow her anger, force a smile, and say goodbye before leaving.
On her drive home, Yu Wu could no longer contain her anger and called her friend Zan Ya to complain.
"This kind of rich kid is so hard to please! I suspect he's worked on related projects before? Is he just deliberately causing trouble?"
"Damn, did I really offend him? Because of that cruise ship incident?"
"That's not right! He didn't give me a friendly look the first time we met!"
"I'm going crazy, Ya Ya!"
Over there, Zan Ya chuckled smugly at her friend's misfortune, her soft voice saying, "There's nothing I can do, he's the client, what about your two S+ projects!"
"I'm going crazy! I'll definitely have to work overtime every day from now on! He's so hard to get along with!" Yu Wu sighed deeply, feeling extremely frustrated.
Zan Ya offered a long speech of comfort, which eased Yu Wu's anxiety somewhat. They went to the underground parking garage of the residential complex and then hung up the phone.

Over the next few days, Yu Wu and the company's planning department worked on the project proposal. Originally, this was the planning department's job, but when signing the contract, General Manager Han designated her as the primary person in charge, so she had no choice but to bite the bullet and get to work.
After much effort, a new plan was finally developed. Yu Wu took it to Sister Ling for a look, and Sister Ling gave her some final pointers. Yu Wu nervously sent the plan to Cheng Yi.
"If it doesn't pass this time either, then the other party is definitely deliberately trying to cause trouble," Sister Ling said at the end.
Yu Wu felt that Sister Ling was an upright and good leader. She wasn't the kind of person who just flattered clients; she was considerate of her employees' hard work.
I haven't heard anything new in a whole day since I sent out the project proposal.
Yu Wu grew anxious and tentatively sent another message to ask Cheng Yi if he had received the proposal.
It was already 5:30 pm, and he still hadn't replied to the message.
Yu Wu thought he wouldn't deal with this matter today, but to her surprise, at nine o'clock in the evening, he sent an address and asked Yu Wu to bring a paper copy of the plan over.
It should be his home address. Tanshan is a well-known wealthy area in Nanhai City. Xia Hongmian also wants to buy a house here. She plans to buy it in full after her company goes public, so that she can have a double celebration.
Yu Wu drove to Samsan. Samsan is not high or steep, but it has just the right slope and undulations. The scenery on the mountain is beautiful, with villas of different styles scattered in a well-organized manner.
Yu Wu had assumed that Cheng Yi's family home was a luxurious villa, but when she arrived at the address he had given her, she was still surprised and gained a deeper understanding of his family's wealth.
A very luxurious European-style lakeside manor, covering a vast area, roughly 80,000 square meters, surrounded by lush vegetation. The main building is in the European classical style, and the surrounding area is brightly lit. Mu Su is already waiting at the gate, directing the doorman to open the manor gate.
Yu Wu followed Mu Su across the neatly spread lawn, where a thin mist could be seen shrouding the entire lake like a veil in the distance. Inside the manor, the decorations were extremely luxurious; a dazzling crystal chandelier hung high in the entrance hall, and the elegant furnishings showcased the owner's refined taste.
Yu Wu suppressed her surprise and followed Mu Su through a maze of turns to Cheng Yi's study.
Mu Su gestured for him to leave, then quietly withdrew.
......
Yu Wu stood there, enduring the goosebumps all over her body, her mind racing as she considered whether there were any omissions in this version of the plan.
Her mind was racing with wild thoughts, but she didn't dare glance at him.
His bone structure was too superior, and his eyes and brows were too cold and deep. Yu Wu could only look into his eyes for two or three seconds at most each time, and in those two or three seconds, she felt that the nonchalant evil aura emanating from him was so bewitching that it made her lose her mind. Usually, she was the one who couldn't resist and looked away first.
Cheng Yi quickly skimmed through the project proposal, then glanced at her with raised eyelids, "Ms. Yu, you need to elaborate on your thought process."
Yu Wu quickly organized her thoughts, walked to the desk, and leaned slightly forward to explain to Cheng Yi.
After finishing his explanation, Cheng Yi pointed his slender fingertips to a certain spot, and his deep voice rang out again, meticulously explaining some details that needed to be modified.
It must be said that although Cheng Yi is young, his market sense is incredibly sharp. He pointed out the subtle problems incisively, and Yu Wu felt she had learned a lot.
Today she was wearing a business suit: a white silk blouse that hugged her waistline, a black knee-length pencil skirt that accentuated her full hips, and below that, her straight and slender legs.
A person so thin, you could easily pinch their waist with a single finger.
She was lost in thought when she snapped out of it and noticed that Cheng Yi was staring intently at something. She followed his gaze and saw that he was staring at her waist.
Her face flushed instantly, and she coughed dramatically.
Cheng Yi lowered his brows and withdrew his gaze, a meaningful smile flashing in his eyes. That smile disappeared so quickly that Yu Wu even wondered if she had seen it wrong.
*
At 2 a.m., all the project details were finally finalized. Yu Wu rubbed the back of her neck and politely said goodbye.
Today went smoothly overall; he wasn't as arrogant as he used to be.
Cheng Yi gave a faint "hmm," without any further formalities. He didn't even offer her a cigarette, but instead frowned, took one out of the pack, and lit it between his slender fingers.
Yu Wu stepped out of the study and found that all the main lights in the house were off, with only the wall lamps on both sides emitting a warm orange glow.
After walking for more than ten minutes, Yu Wu arrived at the car and looked for the keys in her bag, only to find that the car keys were missing.
She searched carefully several times before finally having to accept the fact that she had lost her car keys.
Frustrated, she walked back, looking down for her keys. She couldn't find Mu Su or the housekeeper, only a few servants on night duty. Yu Wu asked a servant if they could turn on the light, but the servant said only the housekeeper's word mattered.
Before returning to Cheng Yi's study, she mentally prepared herself again, and then knocked on the door.
"Enter."
Yu Wu pushed open the door and went in, explaining that she might have left her car keys at his house and asking him to help her look for them.
"There's a teddy bear up there, it's easy to find!"
Cheng Yi calmly placed a car key with a teddy bear attached into the drawer and locked it. Then, he slowly looked up and his gaze fell on her. He casually flicked off his cigarette ash and said in a cold tone, "I have no obligation to help you find your key, nor am I obligated to make the maid who has already gone to bed take the blame for your mistake."
Yu Wu stood there properly, lowered her eyelashes, and pursed her lips, saying, "Sorry, I'll look for it myself."
"Hmm." He leaned back lazily, looking down at her, exhaling a puff of white mist that slowly brushed against his cold, thin eyebrows.
Yu Wu sighed and went outside to carefully search the way she had come. The manor was like a maze, and she almost got lost several times.
The night breeze was cool, the lights were dim, the lake was tranquil, and the moonlight reflected on its shimmering surface. It must be admitted that the scenery here is exceptionally beautiful and captivating.
Unable to find her car keys, Yu Wu had no choice but to return to the study.
She knocked on the door, but there was no response.
She waited a little while and then had to call Cheng Yi.
The other end answered.
"I can't find my car keys. Could you look for them in your study?" Yu Wu asked softly, holding her phone.
“No.” He refused bluntly. “Don’t waste time, just stay the night.”
"I....."
"I'm coming to find you." The phone hung up after she said that.
Yu Wu stared at her toes, a wave of annoyance washing over her. Staying overnight—how embarrassing! She racked her brains, but couldn't recall exactly when she'd lost her car keys.
After a while, Cheng Yi came over, his face still expressionless, showing no impatience whatsoever because of her mistake.
He had just showered; his dark hair was still dripping wet. He wore a white bathrobe, the shirt slightly open, revealing his well-defined, muscular chest. He exuded an air of extraordinary nobility. After his bath, he was less aggressive, appearing gentle and clean.
Yu Wu's face flushed, and she quickly looked away.
After following him for a while, they arrived at the third floor. He pushed open a room door and slightly raised his eyebrows, gesturing for Yu Wu to go in.
"Okay, thank you. I'm sorry to have troubled you today. It's getting late, you should get some rest."
Yu Wu politely said goodbye, went inside, and casually turned on the nearest warm wall lamp.
A clear sneer came from behind me, followed by the click of the door being locked from the inside.
Yu Wu turned her head and looked at him in surprise. His dark pupils were fixed on her as he walked over steadily, step by step.
Yu Wu had nowhere to retreat and was cornered against the wall. She resisted and struggled, but he remained unmoved until his waist was forcefully pressed against her, pinning her down so that there was not a single gap between them.
In the dead of night, the air was utterly still. Their bodies pressed together, the subtle breaths and heartbeats of their hearts trembling in unison—hers rapid, his slow.
Even the slightest movement reveals his intense presence; every touch is amplified by his convulsions, screaming in despair.
Her heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to pierce her chest. Her whole body was tense and she dared not move. Her stiff back was like a fully drawn bow.
Only then did Yuwu realize the danger of a lone man and woman being alone in a room late at night, and despair washed over her like a tidal wave.
His sculpted features were shrouded in a faint shadow, his thin eyelids pressed down, and his dark, inky pupils gazed at her with an intense, alluring intensity.
His deep, hot breath brushed against her ear.
Do you have a boyfriend or not?

Cheng Yi had previously heard that Yu Wu and Ke Yanchen were already dating, so he was extremely concerned. This misunderstanding will be addressed in the extra chapter.
